The University of Georgia teaching assistant under scrutiny for racially charged comments about white people is back at it. After Campus Reform reported Thursday on Irami Osei-Frimpong saying that “some white people may have to die for black communities to be made whole in this struggle to advance to freedom," Frimpong took to his YouTube channel on Friday. At the beginning of his 45-minute long video, he addressed how he had gotten himself into "hot water." Minutes later, he made even more racially charged comments.

Arizona law allows people to fight — and sometimes kill — to protect themselves or others. But what's legal and what's not isn't as simple as pulling a trigger. The state's justification statute is similar to "stand your ground" laws elsewhere in the U.S. The statute says "a person is justified in threatening or using physical force against another when and to the extent a reasonable person would believe that physical force is immediately necessary to protect himself against the other's use or attempted use of unlawful physical force."

Study cures ignorance, but it is the comforting lies we cling to that cause us so much trouble. Where did we learn the foolish falsehoods we hear about civilian gun ownership?

Here is what makes these lies so attractive.. and so dangerous.

Last fall, when Second Amendment groups joined forces to fight a gun control initiative in Washington, they said the fight was to “stop this nonsense before it spreads like a cancer to other states.”

The measure, Initiative 1639, did pass, and as Alan Gottlieb, chairman of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms predicted, the cancer is spreading to neighboring Oregon.

There, a group led by Portland-area clergy is spearheading a renewed effort to completely ban so-called “assault weapons” in the Beaver State, as reported by KATU.

The National Rifle Association's (NRA) insurance policy known as NRA Carry Guard is for concealed carriers who want personal liability insurance. The insurance policy protects carriers from civil liability and "provides them with immediate access to attorneys, supplementary payments as needed for bail, criminal defense legal retainer fees, lawful firearm replacement, compensation while in court, psychological support and cleanup costs for any covered claim resulting from the use of a legally possessed firearm—including an act of self-defense."

Police say as the responding officer arrived at the scene, he observed someone who was in the process of burglarizing the vehicle.

As the officer made contact with the teen, he exited the car on the passenger side and fled on foot holding a gun, which was later determined to be a replica model airsoft gun.

The officer briefly chased the boy and gave one verbal command of "let me see your hands" before firing two shots.

Members of Antonio Arce’s family spoke with ABC15 and say they want justice for his death.

Submitter's note: Sounds to me that justice was already served.

Maryland-style gun control isn’t coming to Virginia this year, as expected. The core of the Virginia Democratic push for gun control ended this week when the Republican majority in the state legislature killed a dozen anti-gun bills in committee. Some of the worst proposed, like the one-gun-a-month bill, universal background checks, and the ban on magazines that hold more than 10 rounds were defeated in committee. Keep in mind, the 10-round limit was also going to be the basis for a new assault weapons ban, any firearm with a magazine that holds more than ten rounds would’ve been banned, and there was no grandfather clause (via Richmond Times-Dispatch)

When Kirsten Gillibrand moved left on guns in 2009, she did it fast. The moderate Democrat from upstate New York had just been appointed to the Senate and liberals were in an uproar. Then a congresswoman, Gillibrand had an A-rating from the National Rifle Association. She co-sponsored bills to roll back restrictions on firearms in the District of Columbia and to limit disclosure of gun trace information by law enforcement. Gun control advocates were stunned that she was chosen to fill the seat.

In response to an appearance by anti-gun activist and soon-to-be Harvard student David Hogg, pro-Second Amendment students at Penn State University put together a march for their own cause on January 18. Dubbed “Come and Take It” and organized by the PSU College Republicans’ Aidan Mattis, the march included demonstrators who carried American flags and signs which read “If gun-free zones work, how come 98% of mass shootings happen in gun free zones?” and “Gun rights are women’s rights.”

As lawmakers push to toughen gun sale rules amid outrage over random mass shootings like the November massacre at a Thousand Oaks country music bar, a new federal study says few criminals who had a gun bought it from a retailer. According to the January special report by the U.S. Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Statistics, about one in 10 state and federal prisoners convicted of crimes involving a firearm said they got the weapon through a retail source like a sporting goods store, pawn shop or gun show.

Famous outdoor writer Gene Hill said it best when he wrote, “I love waterfowling — and all that goes with it.” And the late Canada goose season, Jan. 15 – Feb. 15 has become the favorite of waterfowl seasons for many serious hunters, especially here in Southeastern Massachusetts, which is steeped in goose-gunning history. Wildfowling is a vintage pastime that involves rugged guns, sturdy dogs and equipment. There’s nothing featherweight about it. The guns are tough and well-worn with character from being exposed to the harsh elements, scratched and bumped in blinds and boats and dragged in sleds across frozen stubble fields. Heavy magnum goose loads tug at your pockets. They have a powerful roar and shoot with a purpose.

William Barr’s nomination for attorney general is very troubling for gun owners. Even the most liberal, anti-gun justice on the Supreme Court — Ruth Bader Ginsburg — didn’t sit in the witness chair in the Senate Judiciary Committee and tell us she intended to shred the Second Amendment. Yet that is what Barr did this week when he told senators he supported gun confiscation orders.

A man previously unknown to law enforcement has returned 27 guns that were stolen last spring from the home of the Kettle Falls police chief. The man called Chief Chris Courchene’s office on Monday, a day after The Spokesman-Review broke news of the April 6 burglary and the complicated, nine-month investigation that followed. The man, whose name was not released, told authorities he had received the guns from Courchene’s ex-girlfriend, Alayna R. Smith, as collateral after she approached him asking for a loan, saying her aunt was sick. The man said he didn’t know the guns were stolen until he learned about it from the newspaper.

Normally, one of the more-difficult elements to conceal on a CCW handgun is the length of the grip frame. Thus, guns with a shorter grip frame and longer slides are becoming more-popular with concealed-carry holders, since the longer slide and barrel allows for a greater sight radius and improved ballistic performance, while shorter grip frames enable the guns to remain concealable. The new Springfield Armory XD-E 4.5 takes full advantage of this concept, coming equipped with a 4.5-inch barrel while preserving the short grip frame found on earlier 3.3 models.

The quieter nature of suppressor-equipped guns is being appreciated by more American shooters today than ever before, but the NFA-regulated nature of sound suppressors makes their acquisition expensive and time-consuming. To bridge the gap, some rimfire ammunition manufacturers have worked to produce quieter .22 LR loads that don't produce the supersonic crack at the muzzle, which can damage hearing instantaneously without protection. However, reliability is often far from assured with these low-velocity loads, but CCI Ammo is solving the issue in 2019 with its new Quiet-22 Semi-Auto ammunition designed for today's .22 LR semi-automatic rifles.
