UPDATED: Evergreen State gun prohibitionists moved quickly to exploit the tragic hate crime shooting at a Pittsburgh synagogue in their effort to justify gun control Initiative 1639, a proposal they now claim in a fund-raising email blast would “address the root causes of mass shootings.” Saturday’s shooting left 11 people dead and others, including four police officers, injured. The suspect is described as “a Trump-hating anti-Semite who regularly complained on social media about the president and ‘the infestation of Jews.’”

If you have ever seen the sitcom “Parks and Recreation,” one of the “villains” of the series was “Tammy Two,” the ex-wife of one Ron Swanson. She was a terror, always trying to find ways to ruin people’s lives. Well, Second Amendment supporters can top Tammy Two with Tammy Baldwin.

It was just a few short months ago that newspaper headlines were screaming about the need to gut the right to keep and bear arms. Former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens wrote that, in his opinion, the Second Amendment should be repealed outright. Anti-gun activists declared that it was time for a ban on commonly owned semi-automatic rifles, shotguns and handguns. Lawmakers from coast to coast introduced legislation making it a crime to continue to possess guns and magazines legally purchased from federally licensed firearm retailers.

Gov. Steve Bullock’s consideration to run for President of the United States has started to move his policy opinions to the far left. These politically motivated policies threaten Montana’s economy and our state budget. If the last few months are any indication, the Democratic nominee for President will hold the more radical views of this new Democratic Party. To the detriment of Montanans, it’s not surprising that Bullock is currently looking to expand his leftist resume to increase his viability as a presidential candidate among a changing and radicalized Democratic primary base.

Attorney General Patrick Morrisey announced his office has affirmed concealed carry recognition with Ohio and New Hampshire. Ohio’s acknowledgment means the West Virginia Attorney General’s Office has yet again maintained concealed carry recognition with Kentucky, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Virginia – every bordering state except Maryland, which does not enter into reciprocity agreements and does not recognize handgun carry permits issued by any other state in the nation.

Things took an aggressive turn on Monday's episode of The View, when Meghan McCain and Joy Behar came to blows over the issue of gun control. The conversation was precipitated by the shooting at a Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania synagogue over the weekend, which took 11 lives and injured six others. The cast of the day-time talk show reviewed the story and were left in awe of the carnage, as well as the increasing prevalence of domestic terrorism in the United States.

A security guard often places their life in the hands of the very weapons they carry to defend the people or property they are guarding. For many security guards, the work may require you to carry a gun, and as you may already know, there are hundreds of gun options out there, so how can you determine the best one for you? While it can be a tough decision to choose the gun that will be perfect to carry, you should know which guns have proven reliable and which are often named as being in the top for security guards and law enforcement officers who carry guns.

The school board president said he imagines a sign posted outside each building, something like: "Staff members at this school are armed. If you wish to do harm, enter at your own risk." Others in the Schuylkill County town imagine very different scenes when they think of the Tamaqua Area School District's new policy to arm employees: A student stealing a teacher's gun. An employee accidentally firing a loaded weapon. A chaotic hallway, a stampede of students, a teacher not sure exactly who to aim at.

‘How do we stop mass murder?’
I keep seeing this question on social media after the murders at the Pittsburg Synagogue.

Most of the people asking this question feel strongly about things they don’t understand. They have not studied the issues of physical defense or contemporary mental health. I’m sorry to give them the bad news, but there is no magic button to fix the human condition.

We can not eliminate mass murder, but we can reduce it.

In the aftermath of a wave of political violence, bomb threats, and a grisly mass shooting, Donald Trump and his team have found its villain. And, once again, it’s the media. The pin-it-on-the-press campaign has played out on Twitter, the airwaves and in the briefing room in recent days, morphing into various talking points and done with little apparent subtlety.

A lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Charlottesville wants to make it legal for people between 18 and 21 to buy handguns and ammunition from federal firearms licensed dealers, claiming the restriction violates the Second and Fifth amendments. The suit was filed on behalf of 20-year-old University of Virginia student Tanner Hirschfeld and 18-year-old Albemarle County resident Natalia Marshall. Both tried to purchase handguns from Charlottesville-area handgun dealers and were denied the purchase because of their ages.

Virtue-signaling by Dick's Sporting Goods has a cost that goes beyond alienating gun-owners and Second Amendment-supporters. When the national store announced at the end of February this year that it would no longer sell assault-style firearms and high-capacity magazines, nor sell any guns to people younger than 21, it left some of its suppliers in the lurch. One of them, ammunition-maker BBM, which supplied house-brand ammunition to the company, has sued.

Gun injuries, including many from assaults, sent 75,000 U.S. children and teens to emergency rooms over nine years at a cost of almost $3 billion, a first-of-its-kind study found. Researchers called it the first nationally representative study on ER visits for gun injuries among U.S. kids. They found that more than one-third of the wounded children were hospitalized and 6 percent died. Injuries declined during most of the 2006-14 study, but there was an upswing in the final year.

With autumn’s chill in the air and the leaves beginning to fall, it was time once again for the National Association of Sporting Goods Wholesalers (NASGW) to host its annual meetings and trade show. This year, attendees traveled to Pittsburgh, Pa., to get a glimpse of the firearms slated to arrive at the end of this year and into 2019. Along with a solid selection of new additions to existing product lines, there were also new options we haven’t seen before. The popularity of short-barreled, non-NFA 12-ga. pump action firearms, including Mossberg's 590 Shockwave and Remington's 870 Tac-14 introduced in 2017, has sent ripples through the industry resulting in a hard to miss theme for 2019.

It seemed a little disconcerting to be there. Just three days after a man walked into a Jeffersontown Kroger store and gunned down two African Americans, and on the same morning that another hate-filled white supremacist opened fired in a Pittsburgh synagogue killing 11, it seemed far too soon.
