Gun-rights groups are planning a peaceful show of force in Lower Merion on Sunday. But in promoting the event, they seem to have spawned a war of words. The event invites gun owners from around the state to bring lawfully owned permitted weapons to Bala Cynwyd Park at 1 p.m. to protest a township ordinance that refers to gun-carrying in public parks.

Calling it part of the right of self-defense, the state House voted Thursday to allow those with permits to carry concealed weapons to bring them into public buildings.

The 33-25 vote came over objections of foes, all but one of them Democrats. They said HB 2320 permits government agencies to keep their buildings gun-free solely by buying metal detectors and having security guards at each public entrance. Rep. Jennifer Benally, D-Tuba City, said the County Supervisors Association told her the cost just to those governments would be $59 million a year in what she called unfunded mandates.

On March 12 2015, rape victim Amanda Collins responded to an op-ed by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America founder Shannon Watts, which claimed that opening the door for women to carry guns for self-defense on college campuses could lead to more sexual assaults. The Montana Senate advanced a proposal on Wednesday to instruct Montana law enforcement agencies to disregard future federal gun laws. Two Democratic senators voted with 26 Republican senators in a 28-22 vote to give House Bill 203 an initial green light.

Arkansas House members advanced a trio of gun bills Thursday that would greatly expand where concealed firearms are allowed and provide protections for those who use lethal force.

The House voted 80-4 to allow certain elected officials to be armed at courthouses where they work and 68-9 in favor of allowing concealed weapons in most public parking lots, including universities, schools, parks and the Capitol. Those bills are headed to the Senate.

When I first joined the military, my M-16 came with a tight sling from the buttstock to the forend. It reminded me of the leather sling on my 30-06 hunting rifle I bought as a 15-year-old kid to hunt big game. The sling was nothing fancy and tight up to the rifle so it allowed us troops to sling the rifle over our shoulders (muzzle up) for drill and ceremony (D&C).

The Administration is going after ammo but thats no surprise. All Barack Obama had to do is watch the popular TV show Revolution. In that show, the totalitarian leader didnt go after the firearms, here went after the ammo. It is a simple ideal. Without ammo, a gun is no more than a high tech club!

A proposal to eliminate Tennessee's requirement to obtain a state-issued permit to openly carry handguns was defeated in a House subcommittee on Wednesday. Republican Rep. Micah Van Huss Jonesborough said he introduced the measure because he believes that "current laws here in Tennessee infringe on the Second Amendment of our U.S. Constitution."

An Arvada woman is claiming self defense in a deadly shooting against two wrench-wielding men that took place in the Colorado suburb on Monday.

As of Wednesday, Leslie Barrett, 45, and Billy Scott, 53, were being held by police for questioning in the shooting death of 49-year-old Troy Pittman, whose body was found in the garage of a home located in the 8400 block of Gray Street, NBCs local 9NEWS reported. The pair are being held on suspicion of second degree murder and the case in still under investigation.

U.S. Senator Joe Manchin says he opposes a bill that would remove permit and training requirements for carrying a concealed weapon in West Virginia. Members of the House of Delegates approved Senate Bill 347 Thursday allowing anyone over the age of 21 to carry a concealed weapon without a permit in the state. The bill as approved by the Senate would have set the age minimum at 18.

If you don't want concealed weapons in the local library, you'll have to pay to keep them out.

That's the message in a House-passed bill that allows concealed weapons in public buildings and events. If it makes it through the Senate, House Bill 2320 deserves a new veto from Gov. Doug Ducey.

Jan Brewer vetoed three such bills.

The bill, sponsored by Republican Rep. Brenda Barton, puts a heavy burden on local municipalities. If residents tell their local officials they don't want guns in their neighborhood library, for example, the local government has to cough up the money for security guards or gun lockers.

The Obama administration is reconsidering its proposal to ban a popular type of rifle bulletnamed for their distinctive green tipsafter gun owners, lobbyists and members of Congress opposed the ban, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) said on Tuesday.

At issue is whether green tips qualify as armor-piercing ammunition, and if so, whether the ATF should revoke a 30-year-old regulatory exemption for the rounds based on their popularity in shooting sports.

On March 16, 2015 (next Monday) the Illinois State Police (ISP) will start accepting the new online FOID applications.

The old paper applications will no longer be accepted. In fact if you applied and your application was not accepted by March 9, 2015, you will have to reapply on line.

If you wish to use a paper application you will have to call the ISP Paper Center and have one mailed to you. Minors under 21 without a Drivers License and Amish people will have to use the Call Center method.

The National Rifle Association is now accepting applications for its annual competitive shooting camps for junior shooters.

These camps, run by the Coach Education Program, help young shooters aged 12-21 develop their marksmanship skills from casual to competitive through challenging and rewarding lessons.

These camps have everything you need to take your game to the next level, said NRA National Coach Trainer Daniel Subia.
