"Attempting to bring an end to an ordeal that began in 2011, former gun dealers Rick and Terri Reese filed a settlement agreement with the U.S. government Friday ... In addition to over $11,000 and property, the government, if it adheres to arbitration negotiations between attorneys, will be keeping 'approximately 1,191 firearms' and 'approximately 4,761 ammunition magazines.'"

"The family will get to keep real property including 85 acres with structures in Deming, gold and silver coins, four vehicles and 17 gun safes. A specific condition that 'items being released to Claimants shall be in substantially the same condition they were in when they were seized' is the result of previously seized vehicles being returned with damage ..." ...

"Predicting that confirmation of Loretta Lynch for Attorney General will constitute 'the Supreme Court’s fifth vote in waiting,' Gun Owners of America posted an alert Thursday urging members and supporters to contact their senators, especially Republicans, to oppose the nomination process 'at every step.' The key, GOA asserts, will be if Majority Leader Mitch McConnell requires the Lynch nomination to 'clear a 60-vote hurdle ... rather than just passing with a mere 51-vote majority.'"

"... In a letter sent to Senator McConnell on Monday by a coalition of gun rights leaders, he was reminded Senate rules established under Harry Reid still apply." ...

"The chairperson of Gods Before Guns penned an editorial for cleveland.com entitled Guns, like cars, should include tough licensing and manufacturing requirements. 'Many of the same kinds of regulations that are making steady progress in motor-vehicle safety could also be effective in reducing the toll of shootings,' Dave Eggert asserts. 'And because guns, unlike vehicles, are specifically designed to kill, additional measures are also appropriate. These include universal background checks, special protections for children and youth, and special measures to keep guns away from criminals and domestic abusers.' Yup, this again. For those of you who just joined us . . ." ...

"Today is Patriots Day, the 240th anniversary of the battles of Lexington and Concord, the bloody first attempt at government gun control on American soil, and they’re celebrating today and tomorrow in Massachusetts, a state with some of the strictest gun control laws in the nation. Go figure."

"Where is Capt. John Parker when the country could really use him? He was the commander of the militia group that formed on Lexington Commons, and, according to popular history, uttered a phrase that today is the flash remark for political and philosophical fury: 'Stand your ground.'" ...

"One of the wonders of modern times is that reality is often seen as a social construct and therefore optional." ...

"Gun control advocates argue that stricter gun control laws would reduce murders. They ignore the fact Brazil, Mexico and Russia have some of the strictest gun control laws but murder rates higher than ours."

"On the other hand, Switzerland and Israel have higher gun ownership rates than we but much lower murder rates. These are realities that gun controllers ignore."

"Another reality completely ignored in the gun control debate is the reason the Founding Fathers gave Second Amendment protections." ...

"Advocates of gun control may argue that 'America is such a violent country' or 'the UK bans guns and they have almost no homicides.' What they may not tell you about are the 21,603 murders that occurred in Russia, which has ten times less guns in circulation than America, while America has half the number of murders and ten times more guns. They would also leave out Chicago, which has the strictest gun laws and the highest crime rate in the United States. Point being, gun control is a shortsighted view of how we can fix crime problems in the United States." ...

"Slidefire was the first to recognize that there’s a market for a device that allows the average shooter to bumpfire their rifles, and they’ve dominated the market ever since. But as with all things, there are cheaper alternatives appearing on the market all the time. One such alternative comes from Bump Fire Systems, a company out of Miami, Florida that is selling a competing stock with the same features for damn near half the price. They sent us one to review, and after a little while on the range playing with it I’m back to report — and ice down my burned thumb." ...

"At the SHOT Show this year, Magpul unveiled their latest creation: replacement GLOCK magazines. Designed for the G17, these mags will fit anything in that same line including the popular G19. Their main claim to fame is that they’re cheaper than the factory GLOCK mags and made of a single material instead of the composite metal and plastic magazines that GLOCK offers. Things were looking peachy as the first batches left the factory, but there were apparently a few minor errors that are causing problems, and as a result Magpul is replacing every magazine free of charge . . ." ...

"Since converting my GLOCK 21 to 10mm, I’ve tested a few different types of ammo from it, but the requests just keep coming — everyone wants to see DoubleTap ammo tested in 10mm. The reason is simple — most major manufacturers are selling 'watered-down' versions of 10mm ammo. A simple example is Federal’s Hydra Shok. The 10mm version is barely, scarcely any more powerful than the .40 S&W version. ..." ...

"Two people can look at the same thing and see something totally different. One person can look at one thing and see two totally different things. We’re talking the NRA convention and the works of M. C. Esher [not shown]. Of the two, the NRA convention is the more germane. Which why the TTAG team attended the Nashville get-together of the nation’s oldest civil rights organization. We saw proud manufacturers and peaceful gun owners celebrating their gun rights. Josh Sugarmann of the Violence Policy Center probably didn’t attend the Convention. But that didn’t stop him from portraying NRAAM as a gathering of unregulated death merchants and their willing enablers. ..." ...

Tough gun laws can save lives, but rigid penalties for sometimes minor crimes risk needlessly ruining lives, along with the rationale for those laws.' . . ." ...

"I am struck by the glib contradiction that underlies advocacy for background checks for firearms purchases."

"Part of the contradiction stems from the oft-quoted recitation of 'the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' 'the people' doesn't have any modifiers, and is read elsewhere to apply to all people. Yet background checks are intentionally designed to infringe on the rights of many people, and there is no statutory or judicially-defined limit ... on the number of people whose rights may be infringed by background checks."

"The other part of the contradiction is that background checks don't work to limit access to guns by people whose possession of a gun should give you the willies. ..." ...

It is a constitutional right to protect your children, your family, your home, our lives, and to serve as the ultimate check against governmental tyranny — for the protection of liberty.'"

"On Sunday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) appeared on CBS’s Face The Nation to announce the he has decided not to run for governor of West Virginia in 2016."

"Ironically, Manchin’s announcement comes just two weeks after The State reported that the NRA’s Chris Cox said, 'The NRA is more popular than Joe Manchin in West Virginia.'"

"Manchin’s gun control reputation precedes him. He opposed recent efforts in the state to establish Constitutional Carry by doing away with a concealed carry permit requirement. He did this by suggesting the Second Amendment is not a sufficient carry license. He believes people have to be 'properly trained' before they can exercise their right to keep and bear arms." ...

"It's the BIGOT GAME."

"And here's how it works."

"Senate Republicans have a real problem with AG nominee Loretta Lynch. She was, to put it charitably, weasely under oath. "Vermont, a 'constitutional carry' state, currently has few restrictions on guns, but that could change soon. An important gun control bill is close to passing the Vermont legislature. The state’s house gave initial approval for the passage of one bill that has already passed the senate. The House voted 79-60 in favor of the bill (SB 31) and a final vote is expected today. "A disturbing pattern at the Statehouse is just how easily Republican majorities in both chambers bend to the will of the gun lobby. Time and again, an expansive view of Second Amendment rights has trampled reasonable objections, even from representatives of police departments and sheriff’s offices."

"The latest example is a bill that would do away with permits, training and background checks to carry a concealed weapon. Introduced by Ron Hood, a Republican member of the Ohio House from Ashville, the legislation would allow those 21 and older and not otherwise banned from having a weapon to carry a concealed firearm." ...

Spicer maintains that he was trying to abide by the country’s convoluted gun laws and that his prosecution was malicious.  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
There are other things so clearly out of the power of Congress, that the bare recital of them is sufficient, I mean the "...rights of bearing arms for defence, or for killing game..." These things seem to have been inserted among their objections, merely to induce the ignorant to believe that Congress would have a power over such objects and to infer from their being refused a place in the Constitution, their intention to exercise that power to the oppression of the people. —ALEXANDER WHITE (1787)
