The St George Clay Target Club held its monthly shoot on Sunday.

Twenty-five shooters attended, five of which were new shooters, and two became members. It is great to see so much interest in the club.

Conditions were near perfect for shooting, with plenty of sun and a light breeze.

The affordably priced Renegade features TenPoint’s new Fusion UltraLite™ stock. Configured with optimal comb-height and length-of-pull, the Fusion UltraLite stock, made from PolyOne OnForce™ LFT long-fiber thermoplastics, employs strategically placed cutouts in the fore-grip and butt stock to reduce weight and provide superior handling and balance. The fore-grip cutouts also allow shooters to wrap their thumb and fingers “into” the grip. This feature and the glass-reinforced nylon safety wings located on the stock above the grip both help to keep the shooter’s fore-grip hand safely below the arrow flight deck.

The House on Tuesday began consideration of a Senate bill changing the state’s “stand your ground” law to make it easier to claim self-defense. But the House soon amended the measure (SB 128) to change the burden of proof to overcome self-defense to “clear and convincing evidence,” a lower threshold than the Senate’s “beyond a reasonable doubt.”

A Belfair homeowner has posted a $250,000 bond and is free from jail, as Mason County Sheriff’s investigators look into the possibility that the man he shot and killed was “confused” and thought he had entered a friend’s house two doors down street.

“It may be a case of wrong place, wrong time,” Mason County prosecutor Michael Dorcy told KING 5 on Tuesday.

Dorcy cautioned that the shooting on East Trails Road early Saturday morning is still under active investigation and, although homeowner Bruce Fanning was booked for investigation of murder in the first degree, he still has not been formally charged.

UPDATED: Evergreen State conservatives are suggesting that Seattle Mayor Ed Murray epitomizes the problem with liberal Democrats everywhere: He’s scrapped an idea to tax Seattle homeowners to finance programs for the homeless in favor of a bigger and more far reaching tax plan.

On Monday, Murray announced he was giving up on a proposed Seattle property tax hike to raise $275 million for the homeless effort and instead going for a county-wide sales tax hike. The idea seems to have King County Executive Dow Constantine – like Murray, another liberal Democrat former state lawmaker – and venture capitalist Nick Hanauer on board.

One reason Sacramento police have adopted new technology to help pinpoint locations of shootings within city limits is because shootings, particularly in high crime areas, often go unreported.

When Luis Serrato heard the pop of a semiautomatic handgun near his Del Paso Heights home Sunday night, he says he didn’t think much of it.

“I hear [gunshots] and I’m like, oh, there goes another round. But you know, you get used to it,” Serrato said.

The lever-action rifle stands tall within America’s gun culture. Much of this esteem stems from the days of westward expansion, when the lever-action repeater was the gun of choice. Even long after the frontiers were conquered, the appeal of the slim, tube-magazine repeaters from Marlin and Winchester remained strong. Of all the various models of that late-19th-century era, none are better remembered than the Winchesters, whose origins can be traced back to the fertile imagination of John Browning.

As the only independent, state-based gun violence prevention organization in Minnesota, Protect Minnesota strongly opposes the passage of Stand Your Ground legislation. This bill is unnecessary. Minnesota law allows individuals to use deadly force in self-defense from grievous bodily harm or death. There is nothing confusing about it: Minnesotans can already use deadly force in self-defense.

I understand that it is generally illegal to openly carry a holstered pistol, such that the pistol itself is visible, and that Florida state law defines a “concealed firearm” as follows:

“790.01 (2) ‘Concealed firearm‘ means any firearm, as defined in subsection (6), which is carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the firearm from the ordinary sight of another person.”

The NRA moves the target around quite a bit when it comes to Supreme Court nominees and gun rights, however.

A bill that would bar local governments from passing gun restrictions that are stricter than state law drew strong objections Tuesday from some Omaha and Lincoln senators who want to protect their cities' ordinances.

Lawmakers kicked off a debate on a measure that would allow residents to sue cities and counties if they are adversely affected by a local gun rule.

Supporters say the bill would eliminate a confusing patchwork of local gun ordinances, particularly in Omaha and Lincoln. Law enforcement groups and some elected city officials oppose the bill, arguing that it fails to consider differences between higher-crime urban areas and the rest of the state.

Once inside, the group can be seen busting through doors and smashing display glass trying to locate guns.

The 2nd Amendment is perhaps the most contested portion of our constitution today. Even among the astoundingly divisive platforms of conservatives and liberals, no statute possesses such a stunningly dichotomous interpretation as does the right to bear arms. And while I am neither academically acquainted with constitutional law, nor do I possess a Juris Doctor, I will attempt to lend a libertarian perspective as to its importance and necessity.

The false-positive results surrounding a California law reached the culmination of bureaucratic and political incredulity, as the court ordered all firearms and ammunition to be handed back to the family of the owner in December of last year. However, that is just a single part of the narrative that turned into a nightmare for one California man.

A couple dozen citizens including all five Crossville City Council members attended Saturday’s “test shoot” held at the site of the proposed shooting sports park now planned for property located off Albert Frye Rd.

The test didn’t sway the minds of local residents who moved to the area for basically the same reason proponents of the park like the same area: the remote location.

There are only eight households located on the dead-end road but those attending Saturday morning’s test said they moved or built their homes off Albert Frye Rd. because of the peaceful serenity the area offers.

The Iowa Senate voted Tuesday to approve legislation making sweeping changes to the state's firearms laws, including a controversial stand-your-ground provision authorizing deadly force.

House File 517, which has already passed the Iowa House, was approved on a 33-17 vote. Because the bill was amended, it must return to the House. But House Republican leaders are expected to accept the changes, which means it will likely be headed soon to Gov. Terry Branstad, who is expected to sign it.

On 3 April 2017, President Trump signed H.J. Res. 69, a joint U.S. House and Senate resolution nullifying Obama-era regulations banning the use of certain “predator control” hunting methods on the 76.8 million acres of federally-protected national preserves across Alaska.

The repealed restrictions were enacted in 2016 by the Fish and Wildlife Service after years of disputes between the U.S. government and the state of Alaska over the legality of such practices as bear baiting, hunting via aircraft, killing hibernating bears, and “denning” (killing wolves, coyotes, and offspring in their dens) on or near federally protected lands.
