The Kel-Tec P32 is a .32 ACP, locked-breech semi-automatic pistol with a double-action-only trigger pull. However, it is not a true double-action-only in that it doesn’t have second-strike capability. It makes use of a hammer, but the slide partially cocks the hammer.

A study published this week in JAMA Pediatrics reinforces a sobering reality: that far too many minors are gaining access to firearms and either committing suicide or accidentally killing themselves — or others. Last year more than 4,500 children age 17 or younger were killed or wounded with guns. While suicide statistics for 2018 aren’t available, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has reported a sharp rise in recent youth suicides, about half of which historically have involved a gun.

Gun Owners of California joined the California Rifle and Pistol Association to file an amicus brief with the U.S. Supreme Court regarding New York State Rifle and Pistol Association v. City of New York, to decide whether New York City’s ban on transporting a licensed, locked and unloaded handgun to a home or shooting range outside city limits is consistent with the Second Amendment, the commerce clause and the constitutional right to travel. Their joint brief supports the parties challenging New York City’s restrictive handgun licensing prohibition scheme as a violation of the Second Amendment and other constitutional rights.

Despite the long-standing effort by ATT proponents to present the Treaty as a purely international instrument affecting only export and import of firearms, lurking within its broad parameters and underlying authorities is a catalog of gun control measures that each signing country (which had included the United States) commits to act consistent with. This list of what Menendez and Stohl (and others) describe as “common sense” measures includes, among others:

“Not quite,” indeed. As the subtitle indicates, the “1st in a series” book by the father/son authors features “23 Inspirational True Crime Stories of Survival with Firearms.” And “inspirational” by no means covers the gamut of emotions I felt when going through gripping tales of real people defending themselves and others, compiled from news accounts, police reports, 9-1-1 calls, court transcripts and interviews with the people involved.

Epps, 51, was jailed last week without bail on charges stemming from the fatal shooting death of 45-year-old Marcus Polk at Epps’ Glen Park home in 2016. At the time, Epps claimed self-defense, and the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office declined to charge the filmmaker, citing insufficient evidence.

Kudos to Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Florida legislators for allowing teachers to be armed.

Many well-educated teachers are military veterans and/or extremely well trained in self- defense and the use of firearms and are willing and able to offer their students protection.

As a high school teacher and coach in the late 1960s, I was present at a school shooting.

At the end of the school day, students were in the lobby awaiting their buses, and an armed student opened fire. He wounded 5 students near me. Had I been armed, I know I could have saved some of them from harm.

A Republican governor pushing even a small restriction on firearms kept at home in gun-friendly Texas was a landmark shift after two decades of loosening weapons regulations. And it put Texas in line with other states exploring ways to prevent not just mass shootings, but thousands of lethal gun incidents involving minors.

But the state’s effort was met with a swift and severe rebuke from gun-rights advocates who have all but killed the issue. The anniversary of the shooting at Santa Fe High School is Saturday.

Texas lawmakers have passed legislation lifting the state ban on brass knuckles, kitty keychains and other self-defense items.

The Texas Senate gave the bill its final OK on Wednesday morning; it now heads to Gov. Greg Abbott for his signature or veto. Abbott's staff did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday. Bill author Rep. Joe Moody, D-El Paso, said the bill was "another step" toward getting rid of" antiquated laws regarding weapons."

But though the Ninth Circuit noted that some courts have taken this approach in cases involving illegal aliens, it wasn't willing to endorse that approach. Instead, the court chose to "'assume (without deciding) that the Second Amendment extends to' nonimmigrant visa holders"—and yet it held that the ban on gun possession by the lawful visitors was still constitutional.

Beloved by many, despised by many others, the AR-15 is the most controversial firearm in America. The gun’s notoriety primarily stems from its use in some of the deadliest mass shootings in United States history, including Parkland, Sandy Hook, and Las Vegas. Critics suggest that it is a military-grade killing machine that is too powerful for unrestricted civilian use, while the AR-15’s millions of owners suggest that its power is the exact reason why it is so valuable for self-defense and sport.

Among their product line is a low recoil Steel Challenge 9mm Luger load with a 100-grain bullet. It’s rated for 1090 fps which produces a power factor of 109. It is designed with Steel Challenge matches in mind. Steel Challenge does not have a minimum power factor requirement, and some shooters load their ammo very light to keep recoil low but with enough energy to reliably cycle the gun. Less recoil means you can get the sights back on target faster.

And then there is the U.S. Senate, one of the most unrepresentative bodies in any democratic nation. Fact: The two Dakotas (population 1.6 million) have equal representation with New York and California (population 59.1 million). The House easily passed two bills in February strengthening background checks for gun purchasers, but they face a blockade in a GOP-led Senate where rural states have outsized power.
