A councilwoman is proposing a ban on assault weapons in the township. The resolution, proposed by Democrat Sekela Coles, was transferred to another committee for review. Shortly after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida in February, Coles proposed a resolution be adopted banning assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in the township. “Obviously there was a lot of national attention after the shooting in Parkland,” Coles said. “And there was another shooting incident the same week and I thought we should adopt a resolution. This is not a new issue. It’s just garnering more attention.”

Question #1: Do you hear “Yanny,” “Laurel,” or something entirely different? Question # 2: Do you consider it as “common-sense gun safety regulations,” as “an assault on our basic freedoms and on the Second Amendment,” or something entirely different? While the first question depends on one’s internal neural wiring and on the differences in electronic computer devices, the latter hinges on many factors, including one’s social, political, regional, and spiritual environment and development.

The headline of the USA Today op-ed said it all. Anti-gun Congressman Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) last week advocated for legislation to ban an as-yet undetermined class of semi-automatic firearms and to “go after resisters” who refuse to relinquish their lawfully-acquired firearms. Lest anyone mistake his intentions, Swalwell followed up with a lengthy NBC News interview this week in which he made clear that his own proposal is a departure from prior gun bans that allowed those who obtained the firearms when they were lawful to keep them.

The first rule of social networking protocol seems reasonable, “don’t post if you are angry or intoxicated, because the internet has a flawless memory.”

Apparently, this wisdom does not apply to an extremist reactionist, as her thoughtless tweet inadvertently revealed the insidious leftist playbook to destroy the fundamental rights guaranteed by the Second Amendment. Twitchy.com shares the amorally concise, unintelligent, and hate-filled string of words directly attacking gun owners and escalating the battle between sensibility and ridiculousness to a whole new level of ugliness.

This discusses a reaction to the gun control debate.

I am convinced that the left's war on the Second Amendment has nothing to do with public safety (even if some of their foot soldiers believe it individually, and even though the argument is renewed frequently, especially but not exclusively if a gun is used in a crime).

The Texas lieutenant governor, speaking two days after 10 people were killed in a school shooting in his state, said abortion, divorce and violent video games and movies show that 'we have devalued life,' which he pointed to as a cause of school shootings. With the recent tragedy in Texas, gun control laws are on the minds of many throughout the nation. The Norman chapter of 'Moms Demand Action' meeting on Sunday had a little extra meaning. “We are an organization that supports the 2nd amendment but, at the same time, feels like there needs to be a balance with public safety," said Neil Hester, chapter spokesman. "We try to provide that balance to the gun lobby’s 'guns anywhere any time for anybody' agenda."
