State legislatures from coast to coast are working to crack concealed-carry regulations and restore freedom to their citizens.

While pro-Second Amendment legislation like National Reciprocity and the Hearing Protection Act weave their slow, methodical course through Congress—countered at every turn by gun control Democrats and their surrogates in the media—state legislatures around the country are working to repeal gun control and to expand the exercise of our Second Amendment-protected rights via pro-self-defense legislation.

On his personal Twitter account (@michaeldcargill), Cargill responded: “This nomination has nothing to do about guns, and all they can say is ‘no, because he likes guns.’"

Cargill certainly likes guns – he owns the gun shop Central Texas Gun Works and is a prominent teacher of gun training courses – but the Council members who opposed him insisted their votes were not about guns nor about Cargill’s political opinions. (Cargill is also executive director of the libertarian Texans for Accountable Government.)

The University of Michigan’s campus gun ban has been upheld by the Michigan Court of Appeals.

In a 2-1 opinion, the court said a 2001 ban making all properties owned, leased or controlled by the university weapons-free doesn’t violate the U.S. Constitution.

In an opinion issued for the majority, Judge Mark Cavanagh upheld the ban and disagreed with plaintiff and Ann Arbor resident Joshua Wade, who argued it was unconstitutional under the Second Amendment.

The measure was among 16 bills that Scott signed, including a bill that gives students and school employees a broader right to express their religious viewpoint in schools.

They are the pictures and emotions we all felt.

Friends and partners out for a fun night, ending with a mass shooting.

Our hearts broke as millions of us watched parents such as Christine Leinonen begging to find her son.

"For the parents who had gay sons, they saw me desperate to just spend one more second with my gay son. What I wouldn't do to find out he was alive."

Christopher Leinonen died along with 48 other people.

In the year since the gunman bought guns at a local gun store and went on the murder spree, we found there have been no new national restrictions on gun purchases.

American Outdoor Brands (NASDAQ:AOBC) made two announcements yesterday that should make investors consider taking a closer look at the company as a potential long-term investment.

Gun Business Remains A Cash Cow

First, the company announced that its quarterly earnings release and conference call would take place after market close on June 29th. Though AOBC has a tendency to plunge in price following quarterly conference calls due to the company practice of issuing very conservative guidance, there are several reasons why investors should be bullish about June 29th:

At Central Texas Gunworks, owner Michael Cargill says signups for his safety classes are down.

"It was actually very surprising," Cargill said. "I didn't anticipate people would actually wait. And we're telling people, go ahead take your class now because what's going to happen is it's going to cause a backlog starting September 1."

The new law reduces fees for first-time licenses from $140 to $40, and renewal fees from $70 to $40.

On Wednesday, June 7, the Senate Environmental Conservation Committee was scheduled to hold a hearing on S.1209A by Sen. Robert Ortt. However, the bill was abruptly removed from the agenda. This important Second Amendment legislation would “remove the prohibition on firearm silencers.” Contrary to inaccurate Hollywood portrayals, “silencers,” or suppressors, do not silence firearms. Rather, suppressors simply reduce decibel levels to thresholds which are not as damaging to hearing. S.1209A would also permit suppressors to be used for hunting.

Late Wednesday night, the Connecticut General Assembly adjourned sine die, marking an end to the 2017 legislative session. This session saw the introduction of a number of anti-gun bills, which your NRA-ILA and the freedom loving people of Connecticut fought very hard against. The Legislature will return for a special session later this month to discuss the state budget and your NRA-ILA will be vigilantly monitoring these proceedings to ensure there is no attempt to egregiously hike permit fees for law-abiding gun owners in Connecticut. Below are some of the anti-gun bills which were introduced this session, all of which failed to pass out of committee.

On Tuesday, June 20, the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (“DNR”) has scheduled a public meeting in Mason County to provide an update on planning for the possible construction of a target shooting range in the Tahuya State Forest. Last year, DNR held a series of public meetings for the people of Washington to voice their opinion on how to preserve and enhance recreational opportunities in Washington’s state forests. One of the proposed ideas was to develop a shooting range to provide gun owners with an environment where they can practice using their firearms safely and effectively. A number of possible sites have been identified for a new range and DNR would like to hear input from the public on these locations.

Throughout the 20th century, various nations in Europe tightened their controls on guns owned by law-abiding citizens. In many cases, the new controls amounted to bans on entire classes of firearms, licensing and registration requirements for the few firearms that could be owned, rules on storing guns and ammunition, and bans on possessing the guns in public for self-defense, whether said guns were carried openly or concealed.

Britain proved to be a microcosm of this gun control beginning shortly after World War I, when steps were taken to curtail and control the private ownership of firearms.

Massachusetts U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren is one of the right’s favorite liberal bogeymen. Passing references to her left-leaning ideology, rumored presidential ambition and rise to fame as an architect of the divisive Consumer Financial Protection Bureau are frequently invoked with contempt in Republican circles.

What’s less common is using the first-term Democrat to pressure Republicans to buckle on policy issues.

Democrats on Capitol Hill introduced legislation Thursday backed by gun control groups to strip Second Amendment rights from those who commit misdemeanor hate crimes.

The measure, termed the Disarm Hate Act, comes near the anniversaries of the mass killings at the Pulse Nightclub in Orlando and Emanuel AME Church in Charleston and would ban the sale of firearms to those convicted of vandalizing a place of worship or assaulting someone based on their perceived race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
...but if circumstances should at any time oblige the government to form an army of any magnitude, that army can never be formidable to the liberties of the people, while there is a large body of citizens, little if at all inferior to them in discipline and use of arms, who stand ready to defend their rights... — Alexander Hamilton speaking of standing armies in Federalist No. 29.
