A California police officer was arrested last week after authorities say a college student used a Snapchat gender-altering filter to trick him into thinking he was a 16-year-old girl who'd agreed to meet up for sex.

Robert Davies, a 40-year-old police officer with the City of San Mateo, was arrested Thursday and charged with contacting a minor to commit a felony, the San Jose Police Department said in a press release.

A warrant for Davies arrest was issued on Thursday and he was charged with one count of contacting a minor with the intent to commit a felony.

The Orioles’ team shot a combined score of 429, which earned them first place for the second year in a row.

“Our team championship squad went through and shot really well and I had a chance to watch some of our Pro Am’s too,” said Matt Weaver, Quincy’s clay target coach. “Next week is our state shoot so we’re going to keep on practicing right up through that.

A Chicago police officer is now facing reckless homicide and DUI charges after he allegedly crashed his vehicle into a restaurant while racing at speeds of around 75 mph, killing a woman inside the business.

Terrance Finley, 24, was off-duty and had a blood alcohol level of .083 when he plowed into the side of Tony’s Philly Steak location early Sunday morning in the city’s Gresham neighborhood, prosecutors say. The officer, who had been on the job for two years, was trying to make a left turn onto a street when another car cut him off, causing him to swerve and lose control of his vehicle, they added.

Investigators told the station that Finley’s car was traveling around 75mph in a 30mph zone just before crashing into the restaurant.

In honor of Wheel Gun Wednesday, here is a popular S&W snub, the Model 642, right from the collection inside the Guns.com Vault.

The original S&W 642 was introduced in 1990 as an update to the company’s 1950’s era aluminum-framed Model 42 Centennial. A double-action-only 5-shot .38 Special with a fully concealed hammer, the 642 sports a 1 7/8-inch stainless steel barrel and cylinder along with a matte-finished alloy frame. Weight, unloaded, is 15-ounces flat while overall length is 6.3-inches and ties with its matte black/carbon steel brother, the S&W 442, as the company’s smallest .38.

To call the Model 19 a classic .357 Magnum revolver is a bit of an understatement. Introduced in the late 1950s, the Model 19 was the result of a collaborative effort between famed Border Patrol agent, gunfighter and author Bill Jordan and Smith & Wesson.

When it comes to defending our Second Amendment rights, there are a lot of potential fights. We are seeing attacks on multiple fronts, along with efforts to move forward on some other issues. But what should be the biggest priority? Do we fight bump stock and suppressor bans? Do we focus on getting judges who will enforce our Second Amendment rights? What about the many fights at the state and local levels of government?

With a growing population of 100,000 people to protect and 19 vacant law-enforcement jobs, a Georgia sheriff recently told residents to obtain a firearm for self-defense.

“If you don’t have one, please go get one,” he said. “Please, folks, we have to arm ourselves.” The sheriff urged people not only to obtain a firearm, but also a Georgia Weapons Carry License.

Should you handload your own ammo?

I know most of you reading this do not hand load your own ammo. Let me attempt to convince you that you should. These are my reasons.

First is always economy. It doesn't matter what cartridge you want to load, once you have the empty cartridge case, that you will throw or give away if you don't reload it, you will be able to load it for at least a 50 percent savings. If you cast your own bullets (primarily for handgun cartridges) the savings is approximately 90 percent.

In truth, gun lock laws didn’t even reduce accidental gun deaths among children or teenagers. Few accidental gunshots take place in law-abiding, normal homes. In fact, most accidental gunshots that result in the deaths of minors are fired by adult males who have criminal histories and are in their mid-to-late 20s. Many are drug addicts or alcoholics.

It’s a characteristic of American society that is not shared by any other civilized country. I find it really mind-boggling that my suggestion that we ought to approach the problem by just getting rid of the Second Amendment really has not captured more popular support, because it’s so obvious that it’s an undesirable part of our government structure.

It never ceases to amaze me how quickly people believe distortions printed by the media -- particularly in their efforts to help the enemies of freedom and the Second Amendment and to try to destroy the NRA. Nor does it cease to amaze me how willing the media are to deliberately distort and mislead.

Keith Byrne was trying to do the right thing. After the Marine Corps veteran accidentally cut off another car, he was ready to apologize at the next light.

Before he could, a passenger got out of the cut-off car and shot him square in the chest.

The mortally wounded Byrne, 41, was also prepared to fight back. With his own gun, he fired two shots at 22-year-old Andre Sinclair, and Sinclair died of his injuries at the hospital two days later. Byrne died on scene.

“In fact,” he continued, “if I thought that Judge Sotomayor’s presence on the Court posed a threat to my Second Amendment right, I would not be supporting her here today.” Earlier in 2009, Canterbury also testified in support of Eric Holder’s nomination as attorney general.

Sotomayor’s view of the Second Amendment? In 2004, she argued, “The right to possess a gun is clearly not a fundamental right.” And in 2010 she was on the wrong side in McDonald v. Chicago. We also know Holder’s record is not only anti-Second Amendment but practically criminally so through the Fast and Furious gun-running scheme.

Rejecting suggestions of an underlying insidious plan to degrade Second Amendment rights, the Town Council last week backed a resolution declaring June 7 as National Gun Violence Awareness Day in town.

The council voted 5-1 for the resolution, with Council President Peter Bradley the nay vote.

A call to action was issued prior to the June 5 meeting urging supporters of gun rights to show up at the meeting, and many ended up turning out.

Steve Felano with 2AWNY says Wingo has been unfairly punished by being subjected to an 18-month ban from school property, and he's ready to file suit against Buffalo Public Schools.

"What I'm looking for out of this, and I think what most Second Amendment advocates are looking for, is for this school board to stop this childish behavior of unduly punishing Mr. Wingo and the school principal," Felano said.

Let’s work together to reduce gun violence. Require gun violence incidents, violent behavior, restraining orders, mental health records, “no fly” lists, criminal warrants and convictions and the like to be recorded in a nationwide automated system with effective retrieval to restrict purchase of all guns, and allow judges, if warranted, to remove guns from people on those lists.

Require and fund a CDC study on gun violence. Ban high-powered rapid-fire weapons, large ammunition clips, and bump stocks.

A case challenging Illinois’ Firearm Owners Identification card law is headed to the Illinois Supreme Court, but a gun rights group said it could end up in the nation's highest court.

Illinois State Rifle Association Executive Director Richard Pearson said the case out of White County involved a disabled woman who had a single-shot .22 caliber rifle.

“The judge in White County said the FOID card is unconstitutional in the home,” Pearson said. “So that’s where we stand today and the state of Illinois doesn’t agree to that.”
