"The NRA has been spreading insurrectionist rhetoric for the past few decades, undermining Americans' trust in their legislators and the federal government, while passing for a patriotic organization. The result is a few million people who are convinced that any genuine firearm violence prevention effort is the first step in a scheme to take away all of their rights and disenfranchise them," says study lead author Claire Boine, a research scholar in community health sciences at BUSPH.

“This was just an attack, pure and simple, from the other side,” Jillian Wuestenberg said. “We were berated, our race was brought into it. I just wanted to go home to my children and feed my children.”

Wuestenberg acknowledged she may have bumped 15-year-old Makayla Green with her bag as she was leaving the restaurant, but said she didn’t understand how the incident escalated. Wuestenberg claims she tried to apologize to Makayla but ultimately drew her weapon — which had been holstered beneath her shirt — after she was “rapidly and aggressively approached” by “multiple people” who got “within two feet “of her. (Makayla Green and her mother, Takelia Hill, were unarmed.)

Breonna Taylor's autopsy report has been handed over to her family's attorneys, but it won't be released to the public – at least for now.

During a status hearing Friday a judge said she received an agreed protective order that will help speed up the release of records.

In the police audio interview that took place almost two weeks after the deadly shooting, Sergeant John Mattingly who led the deadly drug raid said their intentions were to get the occupants in the apartment to come to the door.

Over the years, Camden defense attorney Jeremy Pratt said he’s probably had a thousand clients who’ve faced a grand jury.

All of them were indicted.

But that streak ended this week, when a Knox County grand jury declined to indict his client Dorian Ames of Vinalhaven in connection with the death of an island man at his home last month. His client’s wife, Briannah Ames, who was represented by a different attorney, was also vindicated.

A (Caucasian, by the way) woman in a Black Lives Matter hat posted a video in which she describes a simple method for breaking a car window, cutting the driver's seat belt, and "removing" the driver "if necessary." It looks as though her idea will work in terms of (1) getting the driver beaten like Reginald Denny or (2) death or serious injury for the perpetrator along with potential felony burglary or murder charges. While nothing in this article constitutes legal advice, we will see how this individual has advised Black Lives Matter rioters (not "protesters") on how to commit acts that could turn them into roadkill or get them sent to prison for life.

The recent gun-buying surge that began with the COVID-19 pandemic panic and continued through the civil unrest and riots following the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis police custody has created millions of new gun owners who will now eagerly protect their right to protect themselves and their loved ones, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms predicts.

“Look at all of the new people who suddenly decided to exercise their Second Amendment rights to keep and bear arms,” observed CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. “We’ve witnessed something that is nothing short of a sea change, and in some cases might approach the level of epiphany, about gun ownership.

Floyd County Commissioner Tim Kamer is the latest locally elected politician to act as a puppet on a string to gun corporation-induced hysteria. In the latest resolution handed to the commissioners, the gun lobby wants them to kneel before the thrown of corporate profits and squeal uncle, stating their “inability to supersede existing laws and hierarchy.” Meanwhile, there is a pandemic that continues to spiral out of control, an economic collapse that must be addressed, and protests in the streets with root causes aggravated by loose gun laws.

GunGroup is the world’s first and most innovative gun-friendly platform where everyone has the right to buy, sell and trade guns without fear of their posts being taking down by social media moderators.

Staheli said some people don’t understand how to sell their guns privately online or even where to go, but the recently launched GunGroup is simple to use. And the best part is, it doesn’t cost a thing.

“Absolutely free and very user-friendly,” he said, adding that anyone from an 18-year-old looking to buy his first gun to a seasoned hunter can use it easily.

“It’s pretty straightforward. You can buy, sell or trade privately. If you find a gun from across the country that you like, you can access it.”

During the murder trial, prosecutors said French drove all the way from Varna to Oglesby with a weapon to look for Scaman after Scaman had allegedly harassed a woman French knew. French’s attorneys said he defended himself in an early morning confrontation in an Illinois Valley Community College parking lot. Prosecutors contended that driving so far with a weapon destroys a self defense claim because it shows French went out looking for the trouble he found.

The Kenai Peninsula Borough Assembly approved an ordinance Tuesday night that reaffirms its support for Americans’ right to bear arms.

The ordinance repeats some of the language from the Second Amendment to the federal Constitution, which protects Americans’ rights to keep and bear arms. Sponsored by Borough Mayor Charlie Pierce and Assemblymembers Jesse Bjorkman, Norm Blakeley and Kenn Carpenter, the main change in the ordinance is to declare the Kenai Peninsula Borough a “Second Amendment Sanctuary.”

But what about libertarians? To be honest, most case outcomes were overshadowed by the Court’s decision not to take up any of the slew of very good cases presenting claims regarding the Second Amendment and qualified immunity, respectively. Both areas are crying out for the justices’ clarification and legal development, the former after a decade of neglect that has allowed the lower courts to engage in massive resistance and the latter presenting a cross‐ideological alliance of policy reformers.

According to police, three armed men attempted a home invasion on a self-described gun enthusiast, and only one of the three made it out alive.

Pasco County Sheriff Chris Nocco related what the police believed happened in a video statement on Friday. The incident occurred at a home in Wesley Chapel, Florida, that morning.

Nocco said that a homeowner was playing video games by himself when he heard someone break the glass towards the back of his house.

It was a finely calibrated show, to minimize the downside and maximize the upside for the members of the House. Clearly, the Governor and House leadership know how to count votes.

69 votes were needed to override the veto, with 114 members of the House present. 67 voted to override the veto.

The 67 number is from ballotpedia. The North Carolina legislative site shows two votes, with one member changing their vote a minute later, with 66 votes to override the veto. Further research may be necessary to find the one vote difference.

o say our hopes have been dashed last month is to truly understate what occurred. Justice Thomas, joined in part by Justice Kavanaugh delivered a stunning rebuke of their fellow Justices when ten diverse Second Amendment cases, delivered to them on a silver platter, ripe for the picking, were instead thrown into the trash, like the baby with the bath water. It seems to this writer that our plea was akin to a famous movie quote: “This is our most desperate hour. Help me, Obi-Wan Kenobi. You’re my only hope.” has been ignored by our Obi-Wan, ‘our’ SCOTUS.

A Georgetown Law report suggests armed, unregulated groups who patrolled the streets of Lewiston and other Idaho towns during Black Lives Matter protests last month operated contrary to Idaho’s constitution and several sections of Idaho code.

But some local officials aren’t buying it, claiming the report, issued in 2018, omits important considerations, including a 2008 Idaho preemption statute, open carry laws, the ability for a prosecutor to bring a case and the right to bear arms.

Sawyer County’s Public Safety Committee voted July 2 to recommend that the county board of supervisors adopt a resolution affirming citizens’ rights to keep and bear firearms under the Second Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and under the Wisconsin Constitution.

If the resolution is passed at the board’s July 16 meeting, Sawyer County would join seven other Wisconsin counties and one city that have passed similar resolutions.

The Wisconsin Constitution states, “The people have the right to keep and bear arms for security, defense, hunting, recreation or any other lawful purpose.”

Want to lose your carry license and gun rights for life? It’s easy. Just pull a gun on someone because they aren’t wearing a mask inside a store. That just happened to a 59-year-old Boston man after he went Rager-Kay threatened a maskless younger man — with his gun — in a Walgreen’s parking lot.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
No kingdom can be secured otherwise than by arming the people. The possession of arms is the distinction between a freeman and a slave. He, who has nothing, and who himself belongs to another, must be defended by him, whose property he is, and needs no arms. But he, who thinks he is his own master, and has what he can call his own, ought to have arms to defend himself, and what he possesses; else he lives precariously, and at discretion. — James Burgh, Political Disquisitions: Or, an Enquiry into Public Errors, Defects, and Abuses [London, 1774-1775].
