Designed for handgun hunters, the .460 S&W is possibly the most versatile and powerful revolver option available, not only in America, but throughout the world. This ammo is big. It’s powerful. And it’s the fastest revolver cartridge ever made. The .460 S&W features a heavy, .452-inch diameter tipped bullet that sits in a rimmed, straight-walled case. The average bullet weighs 300 grain (gr), but factory loads can be found with bullet weights ranging from 200 gr through a massive 395 gr.

Since her improbable and nationally noteworthy June 30 primary win over seemingly entrenched five-term Republican U.S. Rep. Scott Tipton, the nicknames have been piling up for Republican Rifle resident Lauren Boebert: “Yosemite Samantha”, “Annie Oakley”, and “QAnon Karen”. I interviewed her by phone in early May right after heavily armed anti-lockdown protesters stormed the Michigan capitol. I asked the fervent gun-rights advocate about that form of threatening protest, long before the largely peaceful and unarmed George Floyd police-brutality demonstrations, and just how she became so synonymous with Second Amendment rancor.

Emergency medical technicians who work with SWAT teams and administrative assistants working at the front desk of police departments who get permission from their police chief would also have been allowed carry a handgun while at work. House Bill 652, which cleared the Republican-controlled House and Senate with bipartisan support, could still become law if it receives the necessary three-fifths support needed in each chamber to override Cooper’s veto.

Deer hunters can soon start to apply for their 2020-21 antlerless deer license. But make sure you have a new general hunting license before you turn in that application. Because hunters can't apply for an antlerless deer license without a current general license, which went into effect on July 1. Pennsylvania residents are given preference in applying for antlerless licenses and can apply for their first licenses beginning July 13.

As of Wednesday, July 1, there is no longer a fee for residents to secure a state-issued, five-year permit to carry a concealed handgun in Indiana. The Hosier State is the first in the nation to remove the economic barrier, a welcome relief for those whose tight budget or fixed income prevented them from using the self-defense option. “Hoosier gun owners are now able to exercise their right of carrying a handgun without the financial burden of paying this unnecessary government fee,” NRA-ILA stated in a news post.

Eighty-five years have passed since the introduction of the most versatile handgun cartridge of all time. On April 8, 1935, Smith & Wesson announced a brand new high performance cartridge for an equally new top-of-the-line revolver: the .357 Magnum. In the years preceding that day, there had been a wave of interest in more widespread use of the revolver as a sporting arm and at greater ranges than ever before. Early luminaries of the handgun world—Phil Sharpe, Elmer Keith, Julian Hatcher and Ed McGivern—all contributed to a growing trend.

Firearms safety is something Second Amendment supporters have backed for a long time. In fact, the National Rifle Association has been at the forefront of providing firearms safety and education since its founding in 1871. So it is very frustrating and aggravating to see anti-Second Amendment extremists try to make any claim that they stand for firearms safety. Especially when you hear the advice that Vice President Biden has given in the past – advice that any rational person would discard as likely to land you in hot water.

It comes down to the Gun Control Act of 1968, which set new criteria for the importation of guns. While many Americans will go to any length to buy American and will choose a Smith & Wesson or Colt when it comes to handguns, just like many Americans swear by Ford and GM, there are those who prefer what the Europeans use. In the case of cars it might be BMWs and Mercedes. In handguns, it means Sig Sauer and, more commonly, Glock.

This century’s summer of love hasn’t blown over quite yet. Demonstrations and protests are still going on, though they are mostly confined to major cities. While the Seattle PD may have gone in and finally cleared out the CHOP (aka the artist formerly known as CHAZ) those protesters aren’t likely going anywhere, and it’s a similar story elsewhere.

I am one of those hunters who enjoys traveling to other states to hunt. My spring is nothing more than a giant road trip in search of gobbling turkeys to chase as seasons open up, starting in the south and gradually moving across the country. I look forward to my hunting road show every spring and, to be honest, it keeps me smiling with thoughts of joy during the dark days of a long winter.
