There’s a blind spot in gun control – call it a “loophole,” a term the gun prohibition lobby likes – and it is being illustrated by the case against an alleged gun shop thief now facing charges in Denver.

The suspect is 18-year-old Viet Trinh, the alleged getaway driver in gun shop robberies last November. According to the Denver Post, a crew has been robbing gun shops across the Denver area.

St. Louis community activists hoping for a conviction in the murder trial of Jason Stockley said to expect mass disruption if no conviction is given. The bench trial for Stockley ended several weeks ago. Stockley is charged with first-degree murder of Anthony Smith. A verdict could come at any time; but the only deadline is by December 31, 2017, when Judge Timothy Wilson retires.

Every time somebody comes up with a new, more powerful hypervelocity rifle cartridge, I have to get my hands on it and see what it is like to shoot. How powerful should a rifle be for hunting game on the North American continent? The answer to that question will vary, depending on who you ask. If you ask the salesman at your local gun shop, I think most will ask you some questions about yourself and where and how you plan to hunt. Then they will give you some options that should handle your needs.

In our previous post we explained some major failings of Congressman Chris Collins’ bill as drafted. In our next post we will set down our own suggestions for a possible redraft of pertinent federal legislation that, in our humble opinion, will, we feel, more adequately accomplish Congressman Collins’ objective, and transcend it.

A proposal that would repeal Indiana's gun permit law — which has failed in the last two legislative sessions — has made an unwelcome return. Last week, a legislative committee began reviewing the proposal that would have Indiana join a dozen other states that don't require a license to carry a handgun in public — the so-called "constitutional carry." State Rep. Jim Lucas, R-Seymour, wants to repeal the gun permit law, arguing that law-abiding citizens shouldn't have to get state permission to carry out their Second Amendment rights.

After pointing out the hypocrisy of gun controllers who fight to deny weapons for the common man yet surround themselves with layers of armed guards, Fox News’ Tucker Carlson said he will disarm as soon as Michael Bloomberg does. He made this point after taking apart gun controller Mark Glaze’s arguments line by line.

According to the Crime Prevention Research Center (CPRC), 2 million Americans obtained concealed carry permits in 2016, establishing a new annual record for the fourth consecutive year and bringing the total number of citizens with concealed carry permits nationwide to 16.3 million. That is a remarkable number — one in every 20 citizens has a concealed carry permit (CCP) — considering only 4.5 million Americans had a CCP in 2007. Equally remarkable is the biggest growth in CCPs is among women and minorities.

No guns, no pets, no smoking: these are the rules at the Red Cross shelter in Winnie, Texas. Yet as super storm Harvey forces more and more Americans to flee their homes, few are complaining. In this small town, a school cafeteria has been transformed into a clean, dry resting place for more than 400 people who may need it. Brisket with baked beans and potato salad was offered for dinner.

During the closing weeks of the Second World War, Free French and British SAS troops carried out an operation in the Netherlands codenamed Operation AMHERST. The mission had the objective of attacking and capturing a series of airfields, bridges and canals in an area 80 miles northeast of Amsterdam. The men who participated in this operation carried two submachine guns in combat—the M1928A1 Thompson and a new design that presented an altogether different appearance. This new Sterling submachine gun (SMG), featuring a unique underfolding stock and straight-walled, side-feeding, detachable-box magazines, can be seen in at least one photograph snapped during a lull in the wartime fighting.

There are many questions about Arkansas’ new “campus concealed carry” law, but the most basic is: when does it go into effect? The simple answer is that the law goes into effect on Friday, Sept. 1 – but there’s a catch. The law doesn’t take effect on the University of Arkansas campus until the Arkansas State Police develops a training process for “enhanced” concealed carry permits, which are required under the law.

The parking lot of the Super 8 at I-29 and Highway 175 fills each fall with trucks pulling boats covered with duck blinds. For hunters, the bread and butter at Tieville Bend is the fall duck migration and if you want to know how the hunting is, go to Onawa and stop in Dave’s World Truck Stop and Restaurant, Suds and Jugs, or Millers Kitchen.

U.S. Rep. Tom Reed is adding his name to a bill that would limit a state’s authority to regulate rifles and shotguns. During a Tuesday conference call, Reed, R-Corning, said he’s cosponsoring U.S. Rep. Chris Collins’ Second Amendment Guarantee Act bill that would keep states and local governments from further regulating or prohibiting a rifle or shotgun. Collins unveiled legislation in July in a bid to do away with the Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act in New York state.

This Friday, Arkansas' expanded concealed carry law formally goes into effect. People will soon be able to take guns into places they never have before, such as bars, as long as they have an enhanced carry permit. But once that law goes into effect, it may not be obvious to tell which establishments have opted out of expanded carry as "gun free zones."

Responsible gun owners defended themselves, but you didn't hear it in the news. Instructor Elizabeth Hautman talks about three new examples.

First story- Are you armed at home?

Someone is banging on your front door. You move your children upstairs, grab your handgun, and call the police.

Second story- Are you armed in the grocery store parking lot?

Third story- Are you armed at work?
