In what the mother of a Manville High School senior describes as a retaliatory act by the district, the state department of child services stopped by her home Wednesday morning to speak with her son.
Mary Vervan's son, Frank Harvey, was suspended from Manville High School on Tuesday and ordered to undergo a psychological exam for completing an anti-gun-control school project he was assigned last year, she said.
Manville school officials said Harvey must undergo the psychological evaluation before he will be allowed back in class, said Vervan. She said she will not subject her son to such an evaluation for no reason.

Given the increased frequency of terrorist bombings and mass shootings and an under-lying sense of havoc fed by divisive election politics, it's no surprise that home security is going over the top and hitting luxurious new heights. Or, rather, new lows, as the average depth of a new breed of safe haven that occupies thousands of square feet is 10 feet under or more. Those who can afford to pull out all the stops for so-called self-preservation are doing so — in a fashion that goes way beyond the submerged corrugated metal units adopted by reality show "preppers" — to prepare for anything from nuclear bombings to drastic climate-change events.

The officer, Robert Scheuerer, was driving his 2000 Nissan Pathfinder in the wrong direction on the westbound side of the the highway when he crashed into a Ford van between exits 39 and 40 in West Islip shortly before 5 a.m., Suffolk County police say.
The van caught fire, and the driver, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Scheuerer was being treated at a hospital for serious injuries. Suffolk police say he was been suspended without pay, and is being charged with felony first-degree reckless endangerment.

A high school senior says he was suspended and ordered to undergo a psychological exam for completing an anti-gun-control school project he was assigned.
Frank Harvey said a Manville High School teacher instructed him to create a video arguing against gun control for a junior college readiness class last year, according to News 12 New Jersey.
Harvey produced a video that provided examples of people who used guns to defend themselves from home invaders, the report said. His video also displayed anti-gun-control political cartoons.

Remember how vulnerable the ladies are in their dimly lit bedrooms. Remember how shadowy predators assail the ladies as they wait for the police to arrive. Remember how Hillary Clinton wants to sneak into those dimly lit bedrooms and take away all the guns. Wait… what?

You haven’t heard about Clinton’s plan to take away all the guns? Is that because it’s been hidden like Trump’s tax returns or Trump’s wife’s immigration papers or Trump’s investments in Russia?

Nope. Clinton’s gun-grabbing plan only exists in the minds of the people who spent the last seven years insisting that Obama is coming for your guns, as soon as he finishes his next round of golf.

A Montana legislator is asking the state's attorney general to review the legality of a city ordinance requiring background checks for private gun sales.

Speaker of the Montana House of Representatives Austin Knudsen said in a statement Wednesday that Missoula's new ordinance is in direct violation of state law, KGVO-AM reported. The Montana Code says a local government may not restrict or regulate the purchase, sale or transfer of a firearm.

Knudsen also argued that the new rule violates the Montana Constitution and the 2nd Amendment of the U.S. Constitution

Perhaps one of the greatest areas of division in our nation today is the debate over guns. For the last several decades we have seen politicians, celebrities, corporations and even religious groups come out against the idea that Americans should be able to own guns, and carry them on their person. Firearms known as “assault rifles” -- in particular AR-15’s -- have been heavily targeted by activists and politicians.

The National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA-PVF) is proud to endorse Senator Lisa Murkowski in her re-election bid for the U.S. Senate.

“Lisa Murkowski has a proven record of fighting for our Second Amendment freedoms. She has demonstrated her strong support for law-abiding gun owners in Alaska and throughout the United States,” said Chris W. Cox, chairman, NRA-PVF. “We can trust Lisa to continue her opposition to the Obama/Bloomberg/Hillary Clinton gun control agenda.”

Second, the modes of protection shouldn’t be so clearly gendered. I understand that one could argue that an innocuous, pretty-looking pepper spray can might blend in better, hiding the fact that it’s actually a weapon until it’s in use. However, why is it that brands like Mace don’t think girls can use gender-neutral forms of defense? A girl could just as easily carry a black pepper spray can, and no one would be the wiser. Why is it that, even in the context of defending oneself from attack, males and females are separated by archaic gender divisions?

When Ryan James Martin walks around the Virginia Tech campus, he wears an empty handgun holster at his side as a silent reminder to his fellow students that he is not allowed to bear arms there.

Martin, a 22 year-old senior, is an advocate for the Constitution's second amendment and a vocal critic of the university's prohibition on carrying firearms around school buildings, dorms and classrooms in Blacksburg, Virginia. Martin believes the school's policy is an infringement of his rights and prevents him from being prepared to keep himself and other students safe from harm should an active shooter storm the campus.

Trump casts himself as an ardent protector of the Second Amendment and proclaims that if more “good guys” were armed with firearms there would be fewer gun tragedies. He even went a step further than the National Rifle Association after the Orlando nightclub shooting, suggesting that if it weren’t a gun-free zone, a patron would have been able to stop the bloodshed. (The NRA, while supporting Trump, said it’s not a good idea to allow firearms where alcohol is being served.)

Trump also has vowed that on his first day as president he would end gun-free zones at schools and on military bases. He also supports reciprocity among all 50 states for concealed-carry permits.

Burkhart is a felon, with a 2007 Class C Felony drug conviction in Camden County.

As a felon, he barred from owning or possessing a firearm. As a result, he has been charged with Unlawful Possession of a Firearm — the only charge stemming from the Aug. 10 gun battle. But now he claims the state law that prohibits him from owning a gun violates his constitutional right to keep and bear arms.

Should felons be restricted in their right to defend their home? Does the 2nd Amendment—the right to keep and bear arms—apply even to felons, who though prohibited by state law from owning a firearm, seek to defend their home or loved ones from an attacker?

Venson got his gun and went outside to see two men exiting the shed, according to police. He ordered the men to stop. Police said that one escaped, but the other halted and told him, “Yeah, I’ll stop.”

But Venson said the unknown man then reached toward his waistband, police said. It was at that point that Venson fired once, striking the 53-year-old man in the neck. The man fell to the ground, police said. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition.

Police said the man who was shot did not have a gun.

Venson's arrest is likely to reignite the vigorous debate over whether a property owner has a right to shoot trespassers he believes to be a threat. It is at least the third case of its kind in New Orleans since 2013.

The newest addition to the Wilson Combat line of carry 1911s features a compensated barrel that reduces muzzle flip and perceived recoil when using high-powered self-defense ammunition.

The compensator itself is machined into the barrel as a one-piece assembly, so there are no threads or joints to tighten on the gun. The design of the compensator itself is also streamlined to ensure that the pistol will fit into a standard 1911 holster.

Regarding the supposed apathy of the NRA towards gun-owning minorities, he is just flat wrong. It was a black man, Otis McDonald, who was aided by the NRA as he sued the City of Chicago for unlawful infringements of his 2nd Amendment rights. McDonald, 76 (in 2010, when the case was decided by the Supreme Court) was refused permission to own a handgun for self-defense, despite living in a neighborhood infested with drug dealers and gangbangers. His home had been robbed five times, but he was denied the ability to defend himself. The NRA helped McDonald win a landmark case for individual gun rights.

Ed.: Otis McDonald, RIP, was aided by SAF, not by the NRA.

Candy Sugarman, a California native who now calls Fayetteville home, doesn’t want any woman to find herself in that position. To that end, Sugarman has organized Feminine and Fierce: A Self-Protection & Defense event on Saturday, Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the AIT Building at 421 Maiden Lane in Downtown Fayetteville.

Surgarman, who is also a member of the Gun Powder Gals, an area shooting organization for women, realized that many women may not feel comfortable with guns and may want another alternative for self-defense. That idea had Sugarman looking for a way to educate and inform women on how they can protect themselves.

Following the passage of recent Missouri gun legislation, Washington University—though a private campus with an anti-firearm policy—may see setbacks to the progress made by an anti-gun violence public health initiative led by Risa Zwerling Wrighton last year.

Earlier this month, Missouri passed pro-gun legislation that loosens regulations regarding who can buy weapons and how. Previously, people looking to acquire firearms had to get a state permit and complete an educational class before being allowed to handle concealed weapons, as well as pass mandatory background checks. With this new law, background checks are not required and once firearms have been purchased they can immediately be carried and concealed.

Before deputies arrived, Setti told the dispatcher he armed himself and shot the alleged intruder.

Deputies arrived within 10 minutes, and found a car with Georgia tags in the driveway and Setti’s front door, partially obscured by a bush on the right, ajar.

The door was broken at the hinges and a man’s body, later identified as his neighbor, James Sasser, 31, of Sarasota, was lying in the doorway.

No charges have been filed in the case, which remains under investigation. According to Florida’s “Stand Your Ground” law, a person may use deadly force in self-defense if he or she reasonably believes that force is necessary to prevent death or bodily harm.

SilencerCo. sat down with Donald Trump, Jr., son of Presidential candidate Donald Trump, to talk about firearms and firearms-related issues.

According to SilncerCo’s CEO Joshua Waldron, meeting with Trump Jr. is a risky move for his company but it’s something they felt compelled to do because of the need to protect the Second Amendment.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing)
