AFTER Andrew Parker watched his daughter Alison die on live television, he insisted that “it can’t be that hard” for America to act against gun violence. He is right that our task is clear: We must directly confront the law and our culture that have created an intolerable moment in our country’s relationship with guns.

We think guns are supposed to be loud. Eardrum-damaging loud. Gunpowder-exploding-next-to-your-ear loud. Well, a lot of manufacturers are now showing that guns don’t have to roar, potentially cause hearing loss, and annoy the neighbors. Gun-rights groups have been lobbying state by state to change laws and allow citizens to purchase and use silencers (also known as “suppressors”). They’ve had a lot of beneath-the-national-radar success. People in 41 states can now legally buy silencers (see the American Suppressor Association’s website for all the details on your state). This has set of an innovative race by manufactures to create smaller, better, more practical silencers.

The two Milwaukee Police officers - Bryan Norberg & Graham Kunisch - are suing the gun store that sold the gun in this case. Badger Guns was known for having lax background checks.

This lawsuit was filed shortly after Officer Norberg and former officer Kunish were shot while confronting a criminal back in 2009.

The officers claimed the suspect shot them with a gun purchased at Badger Guns, a shop that's consistently identified as one of the nation's leading sources of so-called crime guns. The store had its license taken away after the lawsuit was filed, but the officers are suing the former owners for negligence.

Tenn. Pub. Acts Chapter No. 80 (July 1, 2015).

A Houston-based gun advocacy group has sent a letter of complaint to the Dallas Zoo arguing that signs there forbidding visitors from possessing a firearm are illegal.

Edwin Walker with Texas Law Shield say cities and other government bodies have too broadly interpreted state law to believe they can restrict gun possession. He says concealed weapons can be carried on public property, including the Dallas Zoo.

Submitters note: This is after the Houston Zoo was forced to remove their gun prohibition signs.

Open carry conjures up images of an overweight mall ninja in Texas, dressed in surplus Flecktarn camouflage, carrying a “tactical” SKS into a Mexican restaurant. In the court of public opinion, these big eaters cost us a lot.

I’m not an open-carry advocate. Why advertise that you’re armed? Bad guys are going to engage anyone who’s armed first, right? At least that’s the theory.

The need for more regulation of firearms is there, a four-person panel asserted at St. Ignatius in Baltimore Sept. 21, but at least one panelist had major doubts as to whether there is sufficient will. “If the tragic death of children in Connecticut – if that didn’t move this nation to think about meaningful reform … we’re not going to see it in our lifetime,” said Baltimore County Police Chief Jim Johnson, who is also chairman of the National Law Enforcement Partnership to Prevent Gun Violence.

Her aim wasn't great, but it was good enough to send her ex-boyfriend packing.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said a Pontiac woman scared the man off when she pulled out a handgun and fired several shots Sunday after he broke into her home and threatened to "knock her out."

The victim said she was in fear of her safety when he came back and began to push her around, so she pulled out her 9mm, semi-auto handgun and fired several shots at him, according to the release. The woman has a valid CPL license, police said.

The man was not hit and fled the residence in a vehicle being driven by another another person. The victim provided a vehicle description to deputies, who later found the man and arrested him.

Some local Oregon police departments have returned their military-supplied rifles and other weapons, slightly dropping the number of guns that came to Oregon through a nationwide program that equips police with gear left over from wars.

The number of M16 rifles that ended up in armories of police and sheriff’s departments statewide, from Bend and Deschutes County to Malheur County, has dipped about 23 percent since August 2014, according to inventories from the state’s 1033 program collected and analyzed by The Bulletin newspaper during the past 13 months.

As the 2016 elections approach it is time for each of us as gun owners, Second Amendment advocates, freedom lovers, and patriots to prepare the single most effective form of advertising media there is. The best part is that for all the multimillion dollar media buys the candidates pay for, all the mass emails and websites created, this form of advertising has something the candidates can’t buy at any price. It has millions of outlets, with a reach that is unparalleled in modern advertising. Even more unique is the fact that we control it, can make it available 24 hours a day, and have the ability to change the message as needed.

A West Virginia school district is training its students to counter school shootings in a manner that leaves open the option to physically confront the shooter.

Schools in Kanawha County School District are now learning under the Medina, Ohio-based ALICE Training Institute’s program, which teaches the “run, hide, fight” method, The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports. If students cannot exit a room safely or barricade the door, the program says, students should counter the attacker by throwing objects at them or swarming them.
