A 20-year-old police officer died after shooting himself in the head with his pistol Saturday at a police station in Tomakomai, Hokkaido, police said.
The policeman, who is unnamed for reasons of privacy, was found bleeding from the temple in a men's room at around 8:50 a.m. shortly after he started the day's duties, the police said. He was rushed to hospital but died four hours later. Fellow officers said they sensed nothing unusual when he attended a morning staff meeting. No suicide note was found. |
