"The absence of carefully trained, armed pilots to protect the aircraft for which they are responsible by law is the single fatal flaw in our national aviation security strategy."
"We need be less concerned about the consequences of arming qualified pilots, and more concerned with the consequences of a failure to do so." |

The lack of armed educators is the weak link in school security also. With rare exception all school shootings have lasted less than 3 minutes. Trained and armed school personel provide the only solution capable of immediate response. Educators should be able to carry magna-trigger equipped revolvers (the only proven "smart gun" technology) which would prevent students from being able to use the guns. Its for the children! If we only save one life, its worth it! |

| It is incomprehensible to me to allow men/women to pilot a $100 million aircraft and be responsible for hundred's of passengers, and not be considered responsible to be armed and protect all those they are responsible for. It is part of our "schizophrenic" mentality and irrational attitude toward guns. |

I don't see why pilots should be armed. After all, if a plane gets hijacked, the Air Force will shoot it down, so we are safe.
And if you'll buy that, I have some beachfront property in Arizona to sell you. |
