"Sen. John McCain spoke to the National Rifle Association in Louisville last Friday, and the reaction seemed mixed. I had a few thoughts of my own after watching his speech ..."

"First, featuring Sen. McCain at their convention as their potential endorsee for President shows how tough a political year the NRA is facing in 2008."

"'A' rated candidates like Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Fred Thompson dropped out of the Republican race long ago ... Instead they seem to be settling for 'C-plus' rated Sen. McCain, someone they once called 'one of the premier flag carriers for the enemies of the Second Amendment.'" ...

And the idiots at NRA seem never to have registered that A+ rate Ron Paul is still (technically) in the race.

Note, while McCain seems to have the nomination sewn up, most delegates are not bound to vote for McCain. Since most conservatives won't support him, his chances of winning are pretty slim compared to someone with Ron Paul's record (if the press would ever let that record be known!)

As a Life Member of the NRA, I'd hate to see the organization endorse McCain. If anyone, endorse Ron Paul, or Bob Barr (Libertarian). But McCain, Hillery or Obamarama - makes no difference. Those three are the same.

Links to anything on huffingtonpost.com should come with a warning, so those of us who couldn't care less what huffingpuffing thinks won't waste our time.

Read the URL, "huffingtonpost/paul helmke." That's why I don't like tinyurl.com, because it hides offensive sites' URLs.

It's a proven fact that Oil compnay owners buy up and suppress technology that would allow cars to get 90 Miles to the Gallon. Better carbs and transmissions.
But? Let's not look at that Problem. Let's just keep sending our Kids off to die for Oil hungry bigots.
Who are mostly foreigners.
While REAL Americans have offered Oil companies, Land offers that would give America, $16-$18 a barrel oil, for the next 50 years out of Alaska.

Comment by: Tim (5/21/2008)
Oh? And I've seen the Paper work from the Land owner up there. The Oil Survey.
This Family has 250,000 acres. They have more oil under their land than Saudi Arabia.
Something in the order of 1,100 Billion barrels down there!

Comment by: Tim (5/21/2008)
BUT! The Oil companies will not buy and drill their Land? I imagine not. Not while they can exploit the middle-east Oil thing with the help of the MSM, Corporate owned Media.
That everyone keeps allowing to brainwash themselves with.
It's On The TV! It MUST be TRUE!

McCain is a terrible candidate but give the man credit in the few places it's due:

He did sign the congress/senate amicus curae in support of Heller against DC in the SCOTUS case.

He did vote against the AWB every time it came up.

He did serve and almost sacrificed his life for this country.

You can't say that about the other 2 knuckleheads in the race.

That said he is still terrible on just about every other issue and he has my thanks for his service, but he still won't get my vote.

Ron Paul has introduced legislation to repeal gun control laws for years and his bills never go anywhere and never receive NRA support. The NRA rates him I believe with a “C” because he refused to support some of NRA’s legislation. Ron Paul tried to stop HR 2640 and was demonized by the NRA for it. Ron Paul doesn’t believe you should demonize a health problem and use it to disarm people.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
You need only reflect that one of the best ways to get yourself a reputation as a dangerous citizen these days is to go about repeating the very phrases which our founding fathers used in the struggle for independence. —CHARLES A. BEARD
