"A ninth-grader was arrested Monday morning for bringing a gun to the Academic Success Center ..."

"The juvenile was caught with an unloaded .22-caliber pistol at the 1112 29th St. school, about 10 a.m., said school principal Sandy Denham."

"When a staffer realized the boy had a gun, Denham was notified and he immediately escorted the young man into his office. The principal took the weapon from the student without incident and called police."

"'We dispatched the crisis team to make sure the rest of the building was secure,' Denham said. 'There were no other firearms and there was no disruption of the day.'"

"The student apparently brought the weapon from home and showed it to a couple of classmates, Denham said." ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Some of the worst abuses of government force in recent years were precipitated by technical and victimless gun-law violations. For example, the BATF claimed that the Branch Davidians possessed machine guns without paying the required federal tax and filling in the proper registration forms. So a tax case worth less than $10,000 led to a 76-man helicopter, machine gun, and grenade assault on a home in which 2/3 of the occupants were women and children. — Dave Kopel and Dr. Michael S.
