"Living close to nature got a little too intimate for a Banning family."

"A 16-year-old girl was alone Saturday afternoon in a ranch home near the foothills of Mt. San Gorgonio when a mother bear and two cubs got into the home ..."

"The girl called her uncle who found the adult bear in the driveway when he arrived."

"He shot it with a rifle, and the injured bear ran into the brush ..."

"Police arrived and said they saw two cubs looking out of a window."

"The young bears left the house and disappeared into brush going in the direction of their injured mother, he said."

"No people were hurt, but the mother bear was found dead in a nearby wash with a gunshot wound to her neck, Loader reported." ...

Well that didn't turn out good for the cubs.

Stupid a$$holes. If you live in bear country, keep the f*cking door closed.

What is this? The tenth time I have read a tragic bear story on here? WTF is wrong with people in California? Every yahoo nut with a rifle is just itching to kill a bear, I guess. He probably could have fired into the air and the mother would have still run off. Now three bears will be dead.

Any bear that enters a home is as good as dead. Better that she was put down before someone got hurt or killed.

Who said her door was open? If a bear smells food in your kitchen and it decides it wants in- it is coming in. Short of steel bars across every door and window there is no effective way to keep one out.

This was not the first time bears had come to this person's house as he had a depredation permit to take the bear.

You guys need to get clued into reality. Your teenaged female relative calls you telling you that bears have entered the home. You arrive to find an adult bear in front of your house and you are going to "shoot into the air" hoping to scare the bear off? I think not.

He should have shot in the air--we don't need "he-men" blasting animals in the front yard. I'll bet these same men in Banning are hoping to shoot the cubs--one has been killed already. Brave men. Send those guys to Iraq.
