"Franklin aldermen took a stand as a city against 14 bills in the General Assembly, all in various stages of discussion by state lawmakers, that limit cities’ abilities to regulate everything from zoning laws to the sale of fireworks. Franklin aldermen unanimously approved a resolution that called the bills “vague, undefined and broad reaching” because they could ultimately hurt the city’s economy since the city would no longer have control."
