A 75-year-old man who shot an intruder later told officials he did so despite being legally blind. The intruder, an acquaintance, is being charged with burglary and battery. Police say 28-year-old Cevaughn Curtis Jr. knocked on the door of Arthur Williams' home around 3 a.m. Friday and asked to be let inside. When Williams refused, police say Curtis pushed the door in anyway. Williams went into his bedroom, called 911 and then shot Curtis in the neck, said Sgt. Barry Kays of the Gainesville Police Department. |
