FULL TEXT BELOW:
Madam, – In light of the recent shooting tragedies at Cumbria, I urge your readers to exercise caution in jumping on the gun control bandwagon. I reside in the United States, where homeowners have successfully prevented rapes, robberies and homicides in their homes, thanks to their Second Amendment right to bear arms.
Burglary rates in this country are lower than they are in Western Europe for the same reason, and the assertion that greater gun control necessarily leads to greater crime control is a myth that is causing too many law-abiding European citizens to become unnecessary crime statistics. – Yours, etc,

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.— Benjamin Franklin Historical Review of Pennsylvania. [Note: This sentence was often quoted in the Revolutionary period. It occurs even so early as November, 1755, in an answer by the Assembly of Pennsylvania to the Governor, and forms the motto of Franklin's "Historical Review," 1759, appearing also in the body of the work. — Frothingham: Rise of the Republic of the United States, p. 413. ] |
