Banks County, Georgia -- Authorities say a 36-year-old man is dead after a late-night domestic dispute at a home in Banks County, about 70 miles northeast of Atlanta. Police say Luther Wes Turpin of Commerce was attempting to break in to his ex-wife's house when his 16-year-old stepson shot him.

Turpin was pronounced dead at Banks-Jackson-Commerce Medical Center. The investigation is continuing. Police say they do not expect to file charges against the teenager.

Neal Bortz, Atlanta radio announcer, reported that the father had a history of beating his estranged wife.
