PORTSMOUTH, Va. (AP) - A would-be robber was shot and killed by a customer carrying a concealed handgun Saturday during a hold-up at a Virginia Alcoholic Beverage Control store.

Police said Neshawn N. Claiborne, 18, from Suffolk, entered the store about 6 p.m., showed his weapon and said he wanted to commit a robbery. A customer who has a valid concealed-weapon permit then pulled out his own gun and shot the robber.

Police are withholding the name of the man who shot Claiborne.
