Ask the Sheriff!

KeepAndBearArms.com -- Broward County Sheriff Ken Jenne has been "busted" for faking demonstrations on a CNN segment about "assault weapons." Misleading the public into thinking "firearms banned under a 1994 law are more powerful than similar, legal weapons," Jenne, who knows better, had a deputy deploy a select-fire AK-47 (not covered by the ’94 gun ban, but regulated by the 1934 National Firearms Act) for the cameras.

According to The Washington Times, "In the first of the two segments that aired Thursday, a Broward County detective fired the AK-47 in semiautomatic mode, and the camera showed bullets hitting a cinder-block target. The detective then fired a legal semiautomatic weapon, and CNN showed a cinder-block target with no apparent damage."

"Now," Sheriff Jenne said, "this is automatic."

The detective then fired on full-auto, obliterating the blocks.

One other big credibility problem per The Times: "On Friday, CNN admitted that the detective had not been firing at the cinder block" with the "legal" weapon! No wonder the "scary" gun, which uses identical ammunition, did so much more damage!

I have been told by a reliable source that pro-gun LEO deputies in Broward County say Sheriff Jenne doesn’t carry his own weapon, and is escorted by two bodyguards. Real law enforcement professionals in his department dismiss the reliability of crime statistics he uses to advance his political agenda and re-election campaigns.

Sheriff Jenne has an intriguing email address: ask_the_sheriff@sheriff.org.

Can you think of anything you’d like to ask him?

Why not do so?

RE: Asking the Sheriff

Dear Sheriff Jenne,

I noticed on your official website you have an "Ask the Sheriff" option. Here are a few questions for you, relative to your "assault weapons" demonstration on CNN. Now that it's common knowledge that you deceived people into believing a machinegun was a semi-auto, these questions are quite fair:

1) Is every deputy underneath you also a complete fraud, or are you unique in that regard?

2) Does being a liar come naturally, or did you develop these skills over the course of your career?

3) If all firearms proposed for ban under Rep. McCarthy's new House bill actually do get banned, do you think people will remember that you were the dishonest cop who used his position of power to deceive government into raiding their gun safes?

4) Who came up with the idea to lie to the American people? Was it you? Or was it CNN?

5) Are you going to apologize publicly for being so overtly deceitful?

I look forward to hearing back from you at your earliest convenience.

Sincerely,

Angel Shamaya
