Ms. Samples,

Your January 12, 2002 column ("Books validity questioned") contained an offensive pejorative term--"gun nuts." This term is intended to denigrate people who defend their Second Amendment rights. As a gun owner and opponent of gun control, I am deeply offended.

Would you say David Horowitz's anti-reparations newspaper ad had been criticized by "niggers"?

Would you say Phyllis Schafly was embarrassed when her son declared himself a "faggot"?

Why is bigotry against gun owners any more acceptable than bigotry against blacks and gays?

You owe America's 80 million honest gun owners an apology.
