In the midst of an already shaky legislative session both politically and socially speaking, bills are still being introduced in dribs and drabs. There is a lot of doom and gloom in both arenas, as we as Americans, try to wrap our heads around recent events. Some things are business as usual, and really, given the history of this proposed bill, it should not be…The passage of this bill is long overdue.

#7 Steel Shot Ammo: #7 Steel Shot Explained

#7 shot is primarily used for target shooting, clays and medium-sized birds like grouse, partridge, quail, and snipe. Old-timers will usually refer to #7 and #7.5 as “dove shot,” because it excels at hitting birds and small animals that are roughly the size of a large dove. As with any steel shot, you will sacrifice a bit of power and penetration compared to the lead equivalent, but you will gain the ability to hunt in all the places where lead is banned. Steel shot is also one of the lower-priced, “non-toxic” types of ammo. So if you love hunting, clay shooting and target shooting – this ammo should meet all your needs. Today, #7 shot is most commonly found in 12 and 20 gauges, from manufacturers like RIO, Fiocchi and Winchester.

2020 was a record year for gun sales but they shot up late last week after the attack on the U. S. Capitol.

Bill Kucyk own Action Impact on West 8 Mile Road in Redford Township. He says people have been lined up out the door since that attack happened as people want to stay safe.

His display cases have gaps where handguns and long guns were on display. There’s been a shortage of guns and ammunition because of COVID driving reduced raw materials and overall production.

Many stores are not selling ammunition.

Kucyk says if you buy a gun at this store you will get ammo too saying, “I have enough ammunition to sell with my guns. I’ve made sure of that because that would be like buying a car and not getting gas.”

With a smaller pellet diameter than all other sizes of buckshot, #2 shot grants you a larger number of pellets per shot. But even though #2 shot is a versatile ammo choice, it isn’t ideal for use when hunting deer, moose, bear or other large game. Most use steel shot for hunting waterfowl and predator control.

Joe Biden announced last week that he will nominate yet another opponent of the Second Amendment to his proposed cabinet: Judge Merrick Garland. Garland, currently a judge who serves on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, is Biden’s nominee for attorney general. Garland is perhaps most famous for being former President Barack Obama’s nominee to fill the late Justice Antonin Scalia’s seat on the U.S. Supreme Court following Scalia’s death in 2016—a seat eventually filled by Justice Neil Gorsuch.

HR38 would amend Title 18 of United States Code. The bill does not facilitate reciprocity at the scale its name implies. It does provide for recognition of non-resident licenses by states that already have a concealed carry permitting process or Constitutional (unregulated) carry. It would not alter existing state limitations on concealed handgun carry — visitors would have to comply with existing state terms to remain legal when traveling.

The Second Amendment Foundation (SAF) reacted to President-elect Joe Biden’s pledge to “defeat the NRA” by suggesting his real target is “every gun owner.”

Breitbart News reported Biden’s weekend pledge to go after the NRA, noting his decades-old support for gun control, including bans on certain categories of firearms.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The NRA has a point about the inadvisability of simply taking guns away from the populace. If that were possible, it would not disarm that small percentage of the population willing to break the law.... Punishing people who obey the law is backward thinking. — Hugh Downs, Veteran ABC newsman
