A man who shot an intruder as he entered his home armed with a semi-automatic rifle Monday morning acted in self-defense, Miami Gardens police concluded.
And the man shot is now in jail facing attempted murder and home invasion charges, per his arrest report.
Around 11:40 p.m., Miami Gardens police say 18-year-old Ezekiel Manthon Leatherwood and three other men walked up to a woman sitting in her car in front of a house, at the 3000 block of NW 204th Terrace. They were armed, wearing masks and all-black clothing. |

A 21-year-old man was fatally shot Monday night after allegedly confronting another individual with a rifle during a dispute at an apartment complex, according to the Cocoa Police Department.
The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m. in the parking lot in front of the 1634 Building at Oak Meadows Apartments. Authorities say Jyuri Smith, 21, approached a 22-year-old male with whom he had an ongoing conflict. Witness statements indicate Smith was armed with a rifle at the time.
In response to the perceived threat, the 22-year-old shot Smith. A witness transported Smith to Cape Canaveral Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. |

The group initially launched a raffle over the summer to raise funds through its Precinct 91 chapter and stated that they received approval from the Tennessee Registry of Election Finance (TREF) before proceeding.
However, just before the scheduled drawing in September, TREF clarified that political action committees (PACs) are not legally allowed to conduct raffles.
“With frustrated hearts but a firm commitment to follow the law, we dutifully canceled the raffle in September,” the officials said in a statement. “To honor the good intentions behind the original effort to bring Republicans together, we are hosting this No-Cost, Equal-Chance Giveaway at our October meeting.”

“Black people, brown people of all stripes, whether you’re an Indian-American or a Mexican-American or whoever you are, go out in your place where you live and get a gun. Legally,” Lemon said.
A person fired at ICE agents with a pistol when ICE raided a California marijuana farm in July after obtaining a warrant, with the FBI offering a $50,000 reward for information leading to the suspect’s identification, arrest and conviction.
“Get a license to carry legally,” Lemon said. “Because when you have people knocking on your door and taking you away without due process as a citizen, isn’t that what the Second Amendment was written for?”

This shutdown, which began on September 30, 2025, has left the ATF operating with a reduced workforce, furloughing critical employees, including National Firearms Act (NFA) application examiners. The lawmakers argue that this situation unconstitutionally infringes on Americans’ Second Amendment rights, sparking a heated debate over government priorities and constitutional duties.
The letter highlights the political divide that precipitated the shutdown. Senate Democrats voted against the bill, which would have funded the government through November 21, 2025, opting instead to push for taxpayer-funded health insurance for illegal aliens. |

The fight for the Second Amendment rights of 18-, 19- and 20-year-old Florida citizens is beginning to heat up again.
In late August, Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to hear a case challenging the state’s ban on firearms purchases by adults under 21. In the case of NRA v. Glass, however, AG Uthmeier is on the side of young adults, and his petition asked the court to strike down the law. |

A federal appeals court has ruled that New York’s ammunition background check requirements under the Concealed Carry Improvement Act (CCIA) can remain in effect, for now. The Second Circuit Court of Appeals denied a request for an injunction filed by gun rights advocates, affirming a lower court’s ruling that found the law does not meaningfully restrict a person’s right to keep and bear arms under the Second Amendment. |

A coalition of 30 pro-Second Amendment lawmakers led by Rep. Ben Cline (R-VA) formally urged the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) to reinstate furloughed National Firearms Act (NFA) examiners during the ongoing federal government shutdown. The call to action resulted in a breakthrough: ATF examiners will return to work Monday to resume processing NFA applications, which had been paused due to the lapse in government funding. |

The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) might not be directly involved in the new lawsuit challenging California Gov. Gavin Newsom’s Glock ban, but the organization’s leaders still had some choice words for arguably America’s most anti-gun governor.
On October 14, CCRKBA posted a news item to its website in which it weighed in on the unconstitutional law, the new lawsuit and on Gov. Newsom personally. |

Charlotte's city code says these violations can lead to an arrest or a $50 fine. A CATS spokesperson told WCNC Charlotte via email that anyone who sees prohibited activity while using the system should tell a nearby security officer or report it via the CATS mobile app.
North Carolina law states that you currently need a permit in order to carry a concealed weapon. However, that could change soon; the General Assembly passed a bill this year that would allow concealed carry without a permit. Governor Josh Stein did veto the bill, but the state Senate voted to override it and the state House has a veto override vote scheduled for Monday, Oct. 20, 2025. |

Jack Harrington, 18, claims the search — which did not turn up anything — violated his Fourth Amendment rights against unreasonable searches and seizures. The case is being supported by the Second Amendment Foundation, which works to protect legal gun ownership.
The search was prompted by a conversation Harrington had with a fellow student about a handgun he owns, according to the complaint. The dialogue, which occurred on a bus ride to a school baseball game, involved Harrington mentioning that he had recently been subjected to a police traffic stop while the gun was in the glove compartment of the truck. |

Some in the 2A community are, once again, angry and upset with Attorney General Pam Bondi and the Department of Justice. At issue is a brief filed by Solicitor General John Sauer, urging the Supreme Court to deny certiorari to Rush v. United States, a challenge to the inclusion of short-barreled rifles in the National Firearms Act.
SBRs and the NFA have been a hot topic since Joe Biden’s ATF reclassified pistols with stabilizing braces as short-barreled rifles. This meant owners of these pistols had to register them with the federal government, pay a $200 transfer tax, go through the approval process, and comply with all the NFA rules for owners of NFA firearms. |

I now think the only way to control handgun use is to prohibit the guns. And the only way to do that is to change the Constitution. — M. Gartner, then President of NBC News, USA Today, January 16, 1992, pg. A9 |
