The .30-30 (pronounced thirty-thirty) cartridge was Americas first small bore sporting round that used smokeless powder. The round served as a transition between the traditional black powder of the 18th and 19th centuries and the smokeless powder that became popular during the turn of the 20th century and remains so today.

The .30-30 is a rimmed, bottlenecked cartridge that houses a lead, semi-jacketed bullet with a diameter of .308 inch. The .30-30 casing neck measures .330 inch, while the base has a diameter of .422 inch. The case is 2.039 inches long.

Taking on a 9-year-old boy who is about to have an act of the Legislature named in his honor is asking for trouble. There were no nays when the House last week passed a bill establishing the Ka'Mauri Harrison Act. A university president, the ACLU and the NRA all rushed in to take the lad's side, so it required guts for Jefferson Parish Schools Superintendent James Gray to remain defiant. Hats off to him for that.

For the past three years I have driven up to Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin to the Road America race track to watch a Henry Rifles sponsored race car take to the track. This year Henry Rifles was the sponsor for the feature race of the week, the Henry 180. So as in the past, I made my way to Road America, only this time there were Henry flags, Henry posters, and Henry banners everywhere at the track.

Starting at a young age, I could be found playing with toy guns, and you could often find me tagging along with my dad and uncle to the gun range. Beginning with .22 LR and .38 Spl. revolvers, I moved up to .45 1911s before I had a drivers license. Then sports, school, girlfriends and jobs happened, leading to careers, homes and family obligations that would keep me from spending much time shooting. It wasnt until I was 27 years old that I shot my first competitive shooting match. Before that I had purchased a few handguns, had my carry permit and would shoot at the local indoor range when time allowed. However, after that first match I was hooked, and 20 years later I am still at it.

Fox News is reporting that the Senate Judiciary Committee will meet again this Thursday, Oct. 22 to consider Judge Amy Coney Barretts nomination to the U.S. Supreme Court a week after committee Democrats tried everything they could to make the judge commit to how she might decide cases, all to no avail.

Judge Barrett would succeed liberal Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, who died last month following a long battle with pancreatic cancer. Barrett, by all accounts, is the opposite of Ginsburg, in that she is a constitutional originalist, where Ginsburg is considered by many to have been an activist.

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart News, the Motor City Madman and avid hunter Ted Nugent sounded off on Joe Bidens gun control proposals and the power of Michigan hunters as a voting bloc.

Breitbart News recently reported on Bidens plan to put AR-15s under the National Firearms Act of 1934, which means hunters could be required to register their AR-15s with federal authorities, submit their fingerprints and photographs, potentially submit to an FBI background check, and pay a $200 federal tax on guns they already own. A contractor working for the city's Evansville Land Bank Corp. will not be charged after shooting a man Thursday while inspecting a house on Fares Avenue. Evansville Police Department spokesman Sgt. Nick Winsett said detectives determined the contractor was acting in self defense when he fired his handgun, which he had a permit to carry.

Seven people were killed and 26 others were injured in shootings across Chicago over the weekend. One teenager is among the dead, while three other teens were wounded between 5 p.m. Friday and 5 a.m. Monday. Last weekend saw five people killed and 48 others wounded in citywide gun violence.
