Boxer primer is the most popular primer style in the United States, due to its ease of reloading – also making it the primary choice among military and civilian ammo manufactuers. Created by Edward Boxer, this popular ammo was patented in England in 1866 and in the U.S. in 1869.

The weapon's firing pin strikes the base of the primer cup, which causes the primer mixture to be crushed against the anvil. This creates a flash that goes through the flash hole, igniting the powder in the cartridge.

The mainstream media lies to us. They feed us propaganda. They don’t want us to know that gun ownership is widespread, or know that armed defense is common.

Let me show you where the propaganda starts at the top.

After what was to many gun-rights supporters a prolonged hiatus, a case squarely involving the scope of the Second Amendment is back before the U.S. Supreme Court. On April 26, the Court granted cert in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. Brought by NRA’s New York state affiliate, with NRA’s backing, the case provides the Court with the opportunity to affirm that the Second Amendment protects the right to bear arms for self-defense outside the home. Given some of the lower federal courts’ intransigence in the wake of D.C. v. Heller and McDonald v. Chicago, in which the Court recognized that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to keep and bear arms, the stakes in NYSRPA v. Bruen couldn’t be higher.

The Supreme Court Monday declined to take a challenge to a Wisconsin law banning state residents who have been convicted of felonies – including non-violent crimes – from owning handguns for the rest of their lives. Leevan Roundtree challenged his conviction after police found a revolver and bullets in his home and charged him in 2015 with possessing a firearm despite a prior felony conviction. Twelve years earlier Roundtree pleaded guilty to failure to pay child support for more than four months, a felony in Wisconsin.

But what is untold in the new FBI numbers for September is the continued trend of women buying weapons for the first time and new owners expanding their arsenals.

The U.S. Supreme Court convened Monday amid a swirl of controversy as the justices, with what many believe is a clear conservative majority, look at cases challenging abortion, religion and gun rights, the latter being the long-awaited case of New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen.

As noted by the Associated Press, this is the first time in 18 months the court will be together in the courtroom, though Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh will be out of the room after having been diagnosed with COVID-19. The AP said he will participate remotely from his home during oral arguments this week.

Not long ago, firearm instructor Karl Rehn of KR Training and I discussed why some people attend defensive firearm classes for little reason beyond recreation. In addition to having taught thousands of students, Karl’s an engineer, thus analytical by nature, and he hit the nail on the head. He said people do what they want or need to do, and while many gun owners want to shoot guns for fun, most don’t think they’ll need to defend themselves, so they don’t take defensive training seriously.

A New York man kept an “arsenal” of so-called “ghost guns” and other firearms, as well as thousands of rounds of ammunition and high-capacity magazines, at his Brooklyn home and a storage facility, federal authorities said Monday. Gary Brown is set to be sentenced in his federal gun case on Oct. 12 after pleading guilty to being a felon in possession of the weapons in April, the feds said in a sentencing memo filed in Brooklyn federal court.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
What is ominous is the ease with which some people go from saying that they don't like something to saying that the government should forbid it. When you go down that road, don't expect freedom to survive very long. — Thomas Sowell
