A recession could be coming to America, but it appears that boom times are ahead for historians, at least those who specialize in guns. That possibility emerged as a federal district court judge in Mississippi, Carleton Reeves, snapped back at the Supreme Court.

Trust me on this, the world’s troubles — or at least your share of them — disappear in a hunting camp just as soon as breakfast bacon begins sizzling in a slowly-warmed cast iron skillet, to which eggs are added at the appropriate time.

There may be nothing more pleasing to the spirit, and the senses, than the smell of bacon cooking, especially on opening morning of the fall general deer hunting season. Boiling coffee in the percolator? Not a chance. Smoke from the campfire? Not even close.

A woman was forced to use her gun to defend her husband as he was getting beaten over a dispute in a parking lot.

On Sept. 28, 2022, a husband and wife were leaving a Meijer superstore in Greenfield, WI, “in search of her favorite hash browns.” Surveillance footage shows the couple in their Toyota 4Runner stopped at a crosswalk in the superstore’s parking lot.

Another man walks toward the store in front of the couple’s vehicle. A confrontation started between the driver and the other man who walked in front of the vehicle. According to the victim’s wife, the other man started punching her husband in the face.

Prosecutors said Friday that the man arrested in connection with a homicide early this week made a strong claim of self-defense and will not be charged.

Deandre L. Buckner, 28, of St. Paul, died shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday off Payne Avenue on the western edge of the Dayton's Bluff neighborhood, police said.

A 20-year-old man was quickly arrested near the shooting scene on suspicion of murder.

However, Ramsey County Attorney's Office said in a statement late Friday afternoon that "we declined to file charges in this incident due to facts uncovered in the police investigation that strongly support a self-defense and defense-of-others claim by the person who fired the fatal shot."

A court injunction is now temporarily blocking part of Ohio's expanded self-defense gun law. A Franklin County judge has granted the preliminary action, limiting House Bill 228, which was originally passed in 2018.

The injunction stems from a lawsuit filed by the City of Columbus, blocking a section of the law that partially prohibits Ohio cities from passing local gun control ordinances.

Other portions of the law that eliminate some duties to retreat before legally using a firearm in self-defense are still in place

"WE ARE SICK & TIRED OF HAVING TO WATCH OUT FOR MEN JUST BECAUSE WE BREATHE. Carry keys to stab someone, carry tasers, stun guns, mace, bear spray, loud alarms. Knowing self-defense, becoming a gun owner, never going anywhere alone. HOW ABOUT MEN DO BETTER," a Twitter user wrote at the time.

A man arrested in connection with a deadly weekend shooting has been released after prosecutors declined to charge him criminally, a decision based largely on the man’s claim he was defending a relative being beaten up by a group of men in front of his home, authorities said.

The shooting was reported around 11:25 p.m. the night of Oct. 29 at a home near Melbourne Boulevard and Kaufmann Court, off McLaughlin Avenue.

Authorities say four men went to the home looking for a man living there, and when that resident came out, the men started to assault him. At some point during the assault, a relative of the resident emerged from the home with a gun and opened fire on the group.

"There are two different kinds of people who have firearms," he says. "You have law-abiding New Yorkers who want to safely and securely carry a firearm, solely for self defense. Then you have criminals with illegal firearms committing crime after crime after crime, but they're still out on the streets. We need to put them in jail, we need to hold them accountable. Maybe it's raise the age, maybe it's cashless bail, maybe it's one of the other laws...not all crimes committed are crimes committed with guns. What we need to be doing is have a crackdown on a criminal with an illegal firearm committing crime after crime after crime."

The Pennsylvania Legislature has ended the state’s prohibition on automatic knives.

Also known as switchblades, these knives are tucked into the handle until the user presses a button and the blade snaps out.

Just four states now ban the use of switchblades: Washington, Minnesota, Hawaii, and New Mexico.

Pennsylvania law prohibits repairing, selling, dealing, using, or possessing “offensive weapons,” which the law defined as bombs, grenades, machine guns, blackjacks, sandbags, metal knuckles, stun guns (including Tasers), automatic knives, and a few related weapons.

The new law, which takes effect Jan. 2, 2023, was authored by Republican Rep. Martin Causer.

Montana Attorney General (and TTAG Contributor) Austin Knudsen Demands YouTube Restore Gun Videos

The letter was prompted by YouTube’s takedown of videos that gun dealer Jason Schaller had published showing how to complete a firearm including unserialized parts including an 80% lower. That activity, if you’re keeping score at home, is still perfectly legal in 45 states or so.

YouTube zapped the videos after a coven of some of the usual Senate suspects made veiled threats against the publisher if they didn’t sufficiently throttle back particular kinds of firearm-related content. In other words, federal officials demanded that a private company do what they can’t legally accomplish on their own via the legislative process.

You would be wrong if you figured Kyle Rittenhouse's legal battle ended when a court acquitted him of murder and other charges for justifiably shooting 3 men in self defense. This is yet another example of why, if possible, avoiding conflict is always the wisest action.

But a Gov. Zeldin would be awful for New Yorkers’ safety. The root of this concern is pro-gun Zeldin’s support for the Supreme Court’s decision in New York Rifle & Pistol Association Inc. v. Bruen, the case that invalidated New York City’s century-old law limiting concealed-carry permits as a violation of the Second Amendment.

Under Zeldin, New York would not only face a possible flood of guns on its streets, but also the repercussions of additionally weakened gun laws. And if New Yorkers want a glimpse of their future with a gun-friendly governor, all they need do is look to Missouri.

YES. Wisconsin Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes, the Democratic candidate for U.S. senator, tweeted in July 2013 that he "could not care less about a 2nd Amendment 'right.' Bear arms all you wish, but you should pay for your mishandling." Other tweets written minutes later reveal that he was reacting to the acquittal that day of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. "Our own individual liberties should never be able to trump another's life, liberty, or pursuit of happiness," Barnes wrote.

State Sen. George Borrello, R-Sunset Bay, met Thursday with members of the Olean Rod and Gun Club to discuss Second Amendment concerns and shoot some targets.

Borrello met earlier with members at the town of Olean club after a state Supreme Court judge rules much of the state’s new gun control laws unconstitutional.

The Appellate Division has since stayed that ruling until the state files an appeal in the cases, Borrello noted. The new gun laws — including areas where handguns may not be carried — remain in effect.

Here is a great example of the uphill struggle that Florida’s gun owners and Governor Ron DeSantis are fighting.

They have no desire to visit the United States. And why, might you ask, are they not interested in visiting one of the greatest countries in the world?

In one word: guns. No, make that two words: gun violence. Guns are of course ruining our way of life and Europeans as well as other folks around the world can see this in an obvious sort of way while in America there are too many of us who refuse to see guns as a problem and you “damn well better not do anything to take away our second amendment freedoms,” which as a result kill a whole bunch of people in the process and make us feel unsafe to live in what was once the greatest country in the world.

Hardaway and Boyd have been joined in their efforts to block provisions in the CCIA by two pro-gun groups, Firearms Policy Coalition, of La Vegas, Nevada and Second Amendment Foundation, of Bellevue, Washington. Sinatra previously ruled that the two groups did not have legal standing to challenge the New York gun law.

Sinatra’s temporary restraining order had already blocked the enforcement of the places of worship restriction in the CCIA, while the court weighed the overall constitutionality of the place of worship restrictions and the entire CCIA.

The preliminary injunction continues the ban instituted by the TRO pending a decision by Sinatra on the merits of the pastor’s lawsuit.

Delaware’s top Second Amendment advocacy group has filed a lawsuit challenging new legislation that forbids 18, 19 and 20-year-olds from purchasing and owning most firearms.

The law is one of several passed by the General Assembly at the end of the last legislative session — and one of many being challenged in courts due to questions surrounding their constitutionality.

Other new laws ban the possession of AR-15s and other semi-automatic firearms and limit magazine capacities.

With the messaging from Dems leaning into abortion, progressive politics, and gun control, while the Republicans are fighting back with ads on inflation, gas prices, border security, and pro-Second Amendment politics, there is a divide.

The last day to vote is almost here. Your ballot must be returned by Tuesday.

Currently Ballot Measure 114, which will cripple the Second Amendment, destroy small businesses, expose and endanger the most vulnerable Oregonians and turn countless law abiding Oregonians into criminals, is polling almost dead even.

In a state where most of the media has joined forces with the frauds who are promoting this dangerous and unconstitutional attack on liberty and common sense, that alone is amazing.

But what it means is that every single vote is going to matter. Every single one.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"Secrecy is the keystone of all tyranny. Not force, but secrecy ... censorship. When any government, or any church, for that matter, undertakes to say to it's subjects, 'This you may not read, this you must not see, this you are forbidden to know,' the end result is tyranny and oppression, no matter how holy the motives. Mighty little force is needed to control a man whose mind has been hoodwinked; contrariwise, no amount of force can control a free man, a man whose mind is free. No, not the rack, not fission bombs, not anything. You cannot conquer a free man; the most you can do is kill him." --Robert A. Heinlein, "Revolt in 2100" (Pg. 68-69, Baen Books paperback edition, 1999 printing)
