You have made use of red-dot sights on your competitive guns and find them to be an advantage when shooting steel and paper targets. There have been pluses and minuses with size and brightness of the dots as well as their durability, making consideration up until now for everyday carry a definite no. It seems that durability along with co-witnessing backup sights help your concerns with the failure factor, but sometimes you have a hard time finding the dot in bright light. You hate to admit it, but your eyes aren’t what they used to be and the dots—especially when turned up to the brighter levels—do not appear round; they look like more of a smear instead of a dot.

CNN is on the warpath against politicians and gun rights activist organizations for defending the Second Amendment against efforts to erode the right to keep and bear arms, especially when remarks from Joe Biden are singled out.

In a lengthy report Friday, CNN focused on West Virginia Republican State Rep. Brandon Steele, who has been pushing a “Second Amendment Preservation Act” that would “bar state or local police from enforcing new federal gun restrictions the Biden administration might adopt.”

Attorneys for the Biden Administration argued in defense of New York gun control Wednesday and Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh responded by criticizing any law that puts Second Amendment rights at police discretion.

The case before SCOTUS is NYSRPA v. Bruengun, the focus of which is a New York statute requiring applicants for a handgun carry permit to prove they have a genuine need, or “proper cause,” to carry a gun outside the home. Similar laws exist in California and New Jersey.

I was listening to the oral arguments in the case of New York State Rifle and Pistol Association versus Bruen. I found the judges on the US Supreme court both fascinating and frightening.

To me, their questions showed the narrow life experiences of a supreme court judge. They don't know about armed defense.

Ammunition is still a lot more expensive than anyone would like; and, in this increasingly hectic world, it seems like time is also increasingly rare. At the same time, more people than ever have chosen to carry a gun for self-defense. How can we all practice life-saving skills if time and ammo are hard to get?

We all have that one drawer or box filled with holsters we never use. To minimize that ever-growing collection, here are five useful time-, cost- and space-saving considerations when buying yet another holster. Appropriate holster selection starts with identifying your intended purpose for both short-and long-term use. The question “What’s the best holster for me?” is really no different than asking the question “What’s the best gun for me?”

The US Supreme Court will “open the floodgates” to more violence in the Big Apple if it overturns a law that puts limits on carrying a concealed gun in public, NYPD Police Commissioner Dermot Shea warned Sunday. The top cop spoke out about the closely watched case being considered by the nation’s highest court — which signaled last week that it may side with gun advocates who want to expand the ability to legally carry concealed weapons in New York.

In a landmark 2010 decision , the Supreme Court ruled that in addition to the federal government, states must also respect the public's individual constitutional right to bear arms. Yet the high court has neglected to take any more major Second Amendment cases in the decade since that would have further clarified the scope of this ruling, leading conservative Justice Clarence Thomas to dub the Second Amendment a “disfavored right.” As a result, many blue states have found ways to work around Supreme Court precedent and drastically restrict the ability of law-abiding people to carry firearms to protect themselves.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation, that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands? — Patrick Henry, 3 J. Elliot, Debates in the Several State Conventions 45, 2d ed. Philadelphia, 1836
