Alan Ritchson is in the clear.

Local police concluded that the Reacher star acted in self-defense during an explosive fight with his neighbor, Ronnie Taylor, on Sunday in the Nashville suburb of Brentwood, Tennessee. As such, police have closed the investigation and will not pursue any charges in the matter, which stemmed from an altercation involving the two men over Ritchson's motorcyle which Taylor claimed was causing a noise disturbance.

"After reviewing available evidence, including video footage and witness statements, authorities determined that no criminal charges will be pursued. Mr. Ritchson's actions were found to be in self-defense," Brentwood Police Captain Steven Pepin tells The Hollywood Reporter.

MI: Cleared in Self-Defense, Charged for Carrying: Michigan Case Shows Why ‘Sensitive Places’ Fail

A licensed concealed carry holder in Michigan is now facing punishment not because prosecutors say he committed a crime in his defensive gun use, but because the state says he was armed in the wrong place when he needed that gun the most. That is exactly why so-called “sensitive places” laws remain one of the most dangerous and constitutionally suspect fronts in the post-Bruen Second Amendment fight.

According to Fox 2 Detroit’s reporting, Genesee County prosecutors determined that 23-year-old Christopher Gill acted in lawful self-defense after being attacked inside a restroom at Ballenger Fieldhouse on the campus of Mott Community College during a day of basketball games.

For decades the New Jersey State Police have maintained a “good ol’ boy” culture, according to one man who is trying to bring sunlight into the darkened corridors of police power.

“I have a tremendous amount of respect for police, but they are not more special than you or me,” said New Jersey resident, John Petrolino.

Petrolino is a U.S. Merchant Marine Officer, author, board member of the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, husband and father of a nine-year-old son.

Problems first began when Petrolino attempted to obtain a New Jersey carry permit. The four-month process cost him hundreds of dollars for the permit itself plus training and background-check fees and must be renewed every two years.

With these two bills, Wyoming returned rights to young adults and increased protections against the extreme Constitutional violations that are inherent with Red Flag Gun Confiscation Orders.

These were huge wins for Second Amendment Rights that should not be forgotten in the wake of the veto of the Second Amendment Protection Act Amendments (SAPA, SF0101).

When Gov. Mark Gordon vetoed SAPA, which would have added a civil process to Wyoming's existing criminal Second Amendment Protection laws that GOA helped pass in 2022, both he and some in the law enforcement community misrepresented many aspects of the actual bill text.

NY: Second Circuit Hints at Punting on NYC Stun Gun Ban Dispute

Second Circuit judges signaled Wednesday there’s not enough evidence to analyze whether New York City’s ban on stun guns and tasers violates the Second Amendment.

The Second Amendment Foundation, Firearms Policy Coalition, and individual plaintiffs argue the ban denies citizens the right to opt for a non-lethal alternative to handguns for self defense, but the panel said there needs to be more evidence showing they’re in common use before a court can decide whether they qualify as an “arm” under the US Constitution.

“Why was it inappropriate to then grant summary judgment on the ground that all you had provided ...

A federal appeals court grilled lawyers for California on Wednesday over the state’s law requiring background checks for ammunition purchases as judges weighed whether it violates the Second Amendment.

The full bench of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit heard arguments in a case challenging the legality of a California law that mandates background checks each time a person buys ammunition for a firearm. A three-judge panel on the appeals court struck down the law as unconstitutional under the Second Amendment in 2025, with the panel finding the law “meaningfully constrains the right to keep operable arms.” The full court heard arguments in the case in a Pasadena courtroom.

New Yorkers applying for concealed carry permits will no longer be required to share their social media accounts with police, according to a settlement proposed in federal court last week.

State officials required concealed carry applicants to provide a list of their social media accounts as part of a sweeping gun safety law in 2022. Gov. Kathy Hochul signed the Concealed Carry Improvement Act days after the U.S. Supreme Court struck down New York’s prior gun licensing regulations, finding it gave law enforcement too much power to subjectively decide who should get permits to carry guns.

The Democratic majority, led by committee chair Representative Martin LaLonde, surprised the committee by scheduling hearings on the bill just days before “cross-over.” Friday, March 20th is the day bills from both chambers are passed and advanced for consideration this legislative session.

A controversial provision in the bill that allows nuisance lawsuits against the firearms industry was stricken before the committee vote to move the bill forward. However, a key provision that restricts individuals receiving court-ordered mental health treatment from owning or possessing firearms remains in the bill.

Pro-Second Amendment groups, industry leaders, and attorneys often argue that getting the U.S. Supreme Court to issue a ruling that strengthens the natural law right of the people to keep and bear arms is a glacially slow, systematic, and intricate process.

That is, unfortunately, true. But why?
It’s true because the Supreme Court, under Chief Justice John Roberts, has orchestrated a judicial review process designed not only to slow the review of Second Amendment cases but also to indefinitely impede the review of the most significant cases.

PA: Neighboring state’s gun control push too rushed for comfort

Advocates for gun control have pushed more than a dozen separate bills through Virginia’s state legislature in less than two months.

We must question if these proposals are truly being carefully deliberated upon.

Some of these changes, such as bans on long-legal types of firearms, deserve more transparent debate in any legislature than what this rush by Virginia’s lawmakers has allowed.

As we have editorialized in the past, much of what skeptics about our Second Amendment and our right to keep and bear arms envision simply isn’t possible in a free society — we fear the mechanisms and practices that making these proposals work would require would violate much more than the Second Amendment — as important as it is.

In at least six statehouses this year, lawmakers are revisiting a long-running debate over whether guns should be allowed on college campuses.

Republican lawmakers in Florida, Louisiana, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming have introduced bills that would allow students, staff or visitors with concealed carry permits — and in some cases, without permits — to bring firearms onto public college campuses.

It is still illegal in Louisiana to carry firearms on school and college property, which are considered “firearm-free zones.”

In response to Senate Bill 727, as an Isle of Wight County resident, I believe it is imperative that our local leaders to reaffirm their dedication to safeguarding citizens' constitutional rights.

The right to keep and bear arms has consistently been acknowledged as a basic liberty under both the U.S. Constitution and the Virginia Constitution.

The Second Amendment explicitly states that the people's right to keep and bear arms shall NOT BE INFRINGED! Similarly, Article I, Section 13 of the Virginia Constitution, authored by George Mason — whose ideas influenced the US Bill of Rights — affirms that a well-regulated militia, made up of trained citizens, is essential for the safe defense of a free state.

Judge Pittman's misguided opinion upholding Texas's carry ban across wide swaths of public life-including at sporting events-isn't even in the same ballpark as the Constitution. His decision is nothing but foul balls, so we've directed our attorneys to appeal this case to the Fifth Circuit without delay. We're confident the law and the Supreme Court's binding precedent will prevail-and this insane ruling will be reversed.

The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) has a New York law that forbids legal carry of concealed firearms for self-defense in New York’s Times Square, centered in its crosshairs.

On March 20, FPC attorneys filed the lawsuit Goldberger v. James with the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. Specifically, the lawsuit challenges New York’s “sensitive location” handgun carry ban in Times Square.

As many TTAG readers likely remember, after the crucial Supreme Court decision in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, New York quickly passed sweeping gun control laws in response. Those laws included designating much of New York as “sensitive locations” where guns are banned.

On March 16, 2026, the Tennessee Legislature transmitted Bill SB0350 to Governor Bill Lee. Governor Bill Lee is expected to sign the legislation. Governor Lee signed a Constitutional Carry Bill in 2021. Bill SB0350 guarantees renters’ rights to keep and bear arms will not be subject to cancellation by rental contracts. The bill does not apply to state and federal government leases or rentals of property. The bill applies to both residential and commercial renters. While Governor Lee is expected to sign SB0350, if he does not veto the bill by the 28th of March, the bill will become law without his signature.

If New Hampshire House Bill 1793 becomes law, Durham Deputy Police Chief Jack Dalton said, he won’t enroll his daughter at the University of New Hampshire.

The bill sponsored by state Rep. Samuel Farrington, R-Rochester, who is a UNH student, would bar public colleges and universities in the state from banning firearms on campus.

Also now dead for the year is a measure that would have allowed people as young as 18 to carry loaded shotguns and rifles in public parks and greenways. Senate Bill 2467 was opposed by several law enforcement groups out of concern for public safety, including the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and Tennessee Sheriffs’ Association.

Many of the bills had already moved through committees in the House. Here is the list of bills killed by the motion:

Being able to legally carry guns on college campuses will have to wait at least another year. Oil City Representative Danny McCormick has withdrawn his bill that would have allowed anyone 18 or older to carry a gun on a public or private college or university campus. McCormick says he pulled his bill because those slated to testify in favor of it couldn’t.

“I actually had some college students that were supposed to come and testify in favor of the bill, and they had some scheduling issues and weren’t going to be able to make it,” McCormick explained.

McCormick says this move in no way alters his stance on the issue.

The data shows guns are trafficked in four main ways: A straw purchaser buys a gun from a licensed seller for someone prohibited from owning one; a buyer gets guns from a licensed dealer to resell them as an unlicensed dealer who doesn’t do background checks; people steal guns from licensed sellers and sell them on the black market; and people steal guns from cars and homes and resell them.

Three of those methods involve licensed gun sellers, advocates noted, making them the front line in preventing trafficking.
