The .4” buckshot size doesn’t get as much use by shooters as it probably should. A very nice home-defense round, .4" buck is also a lot of fun to shoot on the range. Pumping a few rounds into various-sized targets is very satisfying with this ammo type because the power and penetration is just staggering.

It had been the hunt of a lifetime, Blake Stephens said. Last December, Stephens, a school counselor in Locust Grove, hunted in the Wichita Mountains after his name was drawn from a lottery. His elk mount from the hunt boasts roughly 240-inch antlers, though still running short of making it into the record books when he brought it in to be measured at the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.

In Ohio, about one out of 18 citizens have a permit to carry a concealed firearm in public. Those statistics hide a terrible truth. The concealed carry laws in Ohio disarmed over a million eligible adults.

The results are exactly what you’d expect after we denied the right of armed defense to law abiding citizens. Each year, 57 citizens who are no longer alive to tell us that gun-control disarms the victims. When it comes to saving innocent lives, being average isn’t good enough.

With the legislative session winding down, the Virginia General Assembly approved more gun-control initiatives Saturday that were part of Gov. Ralph Northam’s 2020 agenda. The governing body passed a resolution supporting the rights of gun owners during its last council meeting. Councilman Thomas Russo had proposed the resolution during a recent council meeting but said he pulled it as he wanted to revise the wording of it. “It’s a resolution supporting the second amendment in town. I felt we should add more to protect gun owners in Howell Township. I wanted to do more research on it,” Russo said during that council meeting. The resolution would not have any authority to change current, township, state or federal regulations.

January 2020 was a record-setting month for the FBI’s NICS Office and our coverage noted that law-abiding gun owners buy firearms whenever anti-gun politicians start targeting them instead of criminals. A couple of things have happened since January: failed candidate Mike Bloomberg and others kept talking about their gun control aspirations, and law-abiding gun owners kept buying firearms and getting permits for concealed carry.

Gun buyback programs are one of the favorite programs the Democrats believe will stop gun violence. There is no actual data that backs that assumption up but they still like that program. Republicans and one Democrat in the State House of Representatives wanted to prevent local municipalities from using Michigan taxpayer funds to buy unwanted guns from law-abiding people.

New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, recently signed controversial legislation that created the state’s first red flag law to take firearms from potentially dangerous people. The annual High Desert Gun Show, which serves as a major fundraising event for the High Desert Sportsmen’s Club, saw a steep decline in participating vendors this year over previous years, as well as lower overall attendance than last year. The event was held Saturday and Sunday at the Grant County Veterans Memorial Business and Conference Center. Thanks to last year’s passage of the “Firearm Sale Background Check” bill by the New Mexico Legislature, firearm sales between individuals or at gun shows require a federal instant background check be completed at the time of the transaction, closing the so-called gun show loophole in the state.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The U.S. Supreme Court has declined to hear an appeal for a former Oklahoma City police officer convicted of raping and sexually assaulting black women he encountered while patrolling the city’s low-income neighborhoods.

It comes after Attorney James L. Hankins asked the highest court in December 2019 to review a ruling against 33-year-old Daniel Holtzclaw issued by the Oklahoma Court of Criminal Appeals.

Per the Associated Press, Oklahoma’s criminal appeals court rejected his appeals last August

The Supreme Court rejecting the appeal means the lower court’s decision stands.

Prosecutors alleged Holtzclaw preyed on black women and girls while on duty in 2013 and 2014.

He was sentenced to 263 years in

The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is hosting several firearms safety classes in 2020. The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office wants gun owners to know the responsibility that comes with owning a firearm. Part of the class is on the range where people will get to shoot the firearms they learn about. The other half is in the classroom where the sheriff’s office will also teach folks about Alabama’s self-defense laws and what to do if you have to defend yourself or your property.

Writing in the Atlantic, Aaron Tang, Professor of law at the University of California, creates a profoundly misleading comparison of the Second Amendment with a fabricated entitlement to an education. Tang attempts to make the case that Second Amendment supporters and proponents of a theory the Constitution guarantees a right to an equally funded state education are rough equivalents.

Last week, New York billionaire Michael Bloomberg joined the growing list of Democrats who have abandoned their dream of taking on President Donald Trump this November. His effort will be remembered as one in which he spent big but accomplished little. Like other failed candidates before him, Bloomberg made his anti-gun platform the centerpiece of his campaign, even shelling out $11 million to run an anti-gun propaganda piece during this year’s Super Bowl. But he simply could not raise his campaign to the heights necessary to secure any meaningful support.

Colorado gun owners who don’t lock up or properly secure their weapons in homes where there are children or adults prohibited from accessing guns would be subject to jail time under legislation introduced last week at the state Capitol. House Bill 1355 – a so-called safe storage measure – would also require gun shops to distribute trigger or cable locks with every sale or transfer of a firearm. The legislation was reviewed by The Colorado Sun ahead of its introduction.

Far left Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren ended her presidential campaign Thursday, essentially leaving the race to Joe Biden and Bernie Sanders, although Hawaii Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard has not yet thrown in the towel.

According to the Boston Globe, “The decision came in the wake of a poor performance in Super Tuesday contests that she once hoped would lift her campaign, but left her with nothing better than a third-place finish in any of the first 18 states to vote — including in Massachusetts.”

Many years ago, I decided to liberate a .22 LR rifle that hadn’t seen recent use and was occupying needed storage space. While detail cleaning it prior to a sale, I discovered something that was both amusing and horrifying: One of the internal trigger-group parts had been damaged and repaired with a thin strip of duct tape. I immediately realized the culprit was a teenage version of me, as I’d purchased the rifle new and had already developed a penchant for stripping my firearms down to raw components by that time. I somehow managed to break a chunk off one rather critical part and in my impatience to get it running, had built it back up with tape—and then I promptly forgot about it.

Extending gun season from 9 days to 19 days. To me, that is a good thing. More opportunity means more people will hunt! Heck, in Florida and Georgia where I hunt, our gun deer seasons are 2 months long or more, and we are far from running out of deer. Those who wish to do so may bowhunt during that time. Jeff just makes the assumption that more days won’t matter to most hunters.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Wherever standing armies are kept up, and the right of the people to keep and bear arms is, under any colour or pretext whatsoever, prohibited, liberty, if not already annihilated, is on the brink of destruction. — St. George Tucker, in his edition of 'Blackstone's Commentaries,' 1:300 (1803).
