The 223 Remington round has been the gold standard AR-15 cartridge for well over 60 years. It has been the ammo issued to our frontline soldiers for over a generation and has seen combat on 5 continents in the hands of the U.S. Military, our NATO allies, and law enforcement officers.

When someone starts talking about exquisite Italian engineering, the average person will naturally think of names like Ferrari, Lamborghini, and Ducati. And although Italy is very well known for their luxury car brands, if you’ve ever put any number of rounds of Fiocchi ammo through your favorite Glock, Sig Sauer, or Smith & Wesson, you know that Italian ammo is good stuff!

NRA filed an amicus brief with the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Nguyen v. Bonta.

Nguyen is a challenge to California’s law prohibiting the purchase of more than one firearm within any 30-day period. The case of Nguyen v. Bonta centers around a contentious law introduced by the state of California that limits the purchase of handguns to just one per month. This restriction was challenged in December 2020 by several gun rights advocates, including the plaintiff, Nguyen, who argued that the regulation infringes upon their Second Amendment rights.

YouTube announced this week it will place new restrictions on the types of gun-related videos that can appear on the video-sharing platform, including a ban on videos that directly promote the sale of firearms and new 18+ restrictions on videos about 3D printing guns. And, as you can imagine, people who create 3D-printed weapons, often referred to as ghost guns, are not happy about any of it.

The prosecution laid down a strong hand in its case against Hunter Biden over illegal gun possession in court this week, but the President’s son may have an ace up his sleeve.

In evidence ranging from Hunter’s own description of his drug addiction from around the time period of his October 2018 gun purchase in his autobiography to his conversations about doing drugs he had with his daughter and ex-girlfriends to drug residue being found on the leather pouch he kept his gun in, the government went a long way in establishing that Biden was addicted to drugs when he bought the revolver.

When it comes to long range shooting, two calibers that cannot be ignored are the 6.5 Creedmoor and the venerable 308 Winchester. Although the 308 Winchester (7.62 NATO) has been a staple in the long-range target shooting community since its inception over 60 years ago, the 6.5 Creedmoor simply outperforms the 308 Winchester in almost every category when shooting out past 500 yards.

Amid legal disputes and the Supreme Court’s refusal to hear a challenge to Maryland’s “assault weapon” ban, the Second Amendment Foundation’s fight against the Biden administration’s new AR-15 pistol regulations is gaining momentum.

The Colt Python and the Smith & Wesson 686 are two mid-sized .357 Magnum revolvers that have competed with one another off and on for decades. While I have long been a fan of Smith & Wesson revolvers, Colt’s reintroduction of the Python in 2020 made me curious as to how the modern iterations of each revolver stack up. Recently the stars aligned, and I have both the new Python and 686+ in inventory.

John Browning's swan song handgun design, the Hi-Power, had reached its zenith by the mid-1980s, and a special run from that heyday is breathtaking. Mr. Browning filed patents in 1923 for what would become the Hi-Power just three years before he died in Liege, Belgium, his workshop at FN left empty. This final concept pistol, finished by Belgian firearms designer Dieudonné Saive – the man from whose mind later sprung the FN FAL – entered production in 1935 and would remain a staple of the company until 2018 when it was discontinued.

The Republican primary for governor totaled 78,667 votes. The Democrat primary for governor totaled 54,402 votes. Democratic Party Senator Tester has become an anomaly among statewide elected positions in Montana.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"You seem ... to consider the judges as the ultimate arbiters of all contitutional questions; a very dangerous doctrine indeed, and one which would place us under the despotism of an oligarchy... The Contitution has erected no such single tribunal." --Thomas Jefferson, 1820
