Even as they mourn tragedies, the Ohio state GOP is pushing legislation that will make our communities less safe.
The Second Amendment Preservation Act, currently making its way through the legislature, is a perfect example of political posturing disguised as principle.
If passed, this law would prohibit local agencies from participating in the enforcement of federal gun regulations. That means agencies could use federal tools like ballistics databases but not assist federal investigations — despite those tools being inherently federal. |

A teen arrested for the July stabbing death of his father has been released. The State Attorney General (FGE) of Quintana Roo has concluded their investigation of a domestic violence call that left one person dead.
On July 20, police were called to the private community of Paseso de Xcacel around 4:00 p.m. in response to domestic violence reports that lead to a stabbing. At the scene, police found an adult male laying dead near a security booth.
FGE head Raciel López Salazar reported that the case is not a homicide, but rather an unfortunate accident in an act of defense of his mother and himself. According to their investigation, the teenager was cutting food in the kitchen when he heard cries from his mother. |

Jlil claimed he acted under Florida’s stand your ground law, but the evidence didn’t support that defense, according to the judge. During his bond hearing, Judge Mindy Glazer emphasized that Jlil admitted to stabbing Mason and referred to the incident as a road rage case, an unfortunately common occurrence in South Florida.
Mason was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital, and the local community, deeply fond of the long-time mailman, launched a GoFundMe to help cover medical costs. |

This week’s “Wied Wire” from our U.S. Congressman, Tony Wied, proudly proclaimed that he had introduced “commonsense legislation” to rectify a great injustice. Yay! His Freedom from Improper Regulation and Enforcement (FIRE) Act “ensures the protection of Second Amendment rights by preventing state and local bans on magazine capacity.” Wait, what? You are introducing a federal act to reduce state and local rights? About high-capacity magazines?
First, Tony, the Second Amendment is mute on high-capacity gun magazines, but it is a pretty safe bet that the Founding Fathers did not have high-capacity magazines in mind when it was written. |

The tragic and senseless murders of four people in a New York City office building underscores the horribly misguided gun control mindset, which disarms good people and doesn’t stop bad ones, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) stated.
That the crime occurred in the middle of Manhattan’s business district—where local and state law makes it virtually impossible to legally carry a defensive firearm—is even more proof that New York’s policies are literally “dead wrong,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. |

In the wake of a horrific shooting in a New York City office building, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) has issued a scathing indictment of existing gun control policies, asserting that the tragedy underscores the fundamental flaws in disarming law-abiding citizens.
The organization’s strong remarks came Wednesday as details emerged about the senseless murders of four individuals in what is considered one of the most heavily regulated environments for firearm ownership in the nation. |

As usual, the anti-gunner left couldn’t wait more than seven seconds after news reports about the mass shooting in Manhattan surfaced. Once the news broke, they did their usual routine of jumping on the airwaves and interwebs to scream at the rest of us about why we should give up our Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. |

In an escalation against Silicon Valley, Missouri’s Attorney General Andrew Bailey issued a formal demand letter to Google YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram on June 27, 2025, probing alleged censorship of gun-related content on the world’s largest social media platforms.
Bailey’s move, marked by a Civil Investigative Demand (CID)—a powerful statutory tool under Missouri law—signals the latest step in a growing clash between Republican state attorneys general and Big Tech schemes to undermine free speech online. |

Today’s post is a little different. Over the last few days, a stack of packages showed up, and I also picked up two new guns from my local shop. Instead of breaking this up into multiple short posts, I figured I’d do a “mail call” style write-up and video to show everything at once.

There’s a new report out this month that says thefts of firearms from parked cars are growing at an alarming rate, that they're on pace to eclipse home burglaries of guns and that stolen guns are increasingly a major source of guns used in violent crimes.
Of course other reports, looking at slightly different data sets, say gun thefts from cars crossed the 50 percent mark a couple of years ago to become the top source of stolen guns. But either way, Stateline.org reports, stolen guns are becoming “a key, but often overlooked, source of weapons used in crimes,” and parked cars (and trucks) are increasingly the go-to location for those thefts. |

Officials have described the incident as an attack, leading some to ask 5NEWS what options are available for self-defense while hiking, including whether it’s legal to carry firearms in Arkansas state parks like Devil’s Den.
According to state law, individuals with a valid concealed carry license are allowed to carry handguns in Arkansas State Parks, as long as the weapon is not visible. The public display of any firearm is prohibited.
Before 2003, concealed carry was not permitted in state parks. That changed when Act 1110 was passed and revised the law to allow it in most outdoor areas. Still, some park buildings remain off-limits.

Just minutes into a special Vacation Bible School Sunday service at CrossPointe Community Church in Wayne, Michigan, on June 22, parishioners found their morning worship interrupted by the terrible crack of gunshots outside.
A man clad in a tactical vest and carrying numerous firearms had driven erratically onto the premises of the church, apparently intent on killing as many worshippers as he could that morning.
Fortunately for the nearly 150 people inside—including numerous young children—some of the gunshots they heard were, in fact, the sounds of two armed church members returning fire and killing the gunman before he could enter the sanctuary. |

A married couple that was e-biking along a Canadian trail startled two bears that attacked them over the weekend, requiring one person to undergo surgery, according to local officials.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, July 26, as the husband and wife were e-biking along the Kootenay River when two grizzly bears attacked them, according to information shared by the Conservation Officer Service (COS) in British Columbia.
Officers interviewed the couple, assessed the area and spoke to a carnivore specialist, who stated the bears likely acted in self-defense. |

If you want a silencer for your hunting rifle, you should reserve it now before the federal tax is lifted.
You read that right. Buy it now, but take possession of it only after Jan. 1, when the National Firearms Act provisions of the One Big Beautiful Bill take effect.
Jeb Burnett of Roland, owner of Armtac USA, makes custom silencers, and he also sells silencers from multiple manufacturers. A major provision of the One Big Beautiful Bill removes the compulsory $200 federal tax on silencers. Removing that significant expense, Burnett said, will stimulate intense demand and exhaust existing inventories in a short time. |

American gun owners join the NRA for many reasons that pertain to their individual shooting sports activities, but all join for the common goal of the protection of their Second Amendment rights. According to the NRA, in the Basic Instructor Training Course (BIT), the mission statement of the organization and its members is the “Constitution of the United States of America with a focus on the Second Amendment.”
I am fortunate enough to live in the most gun-friendly state in these United States—Texas! What makes it even more special is that I am an NRA Training Counselor and recently retired as the Hunter Education Training Specialist and Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) Coordinator after 27 years of service. |

On a July 14 podcast with former U.S. Navy SEAL and CIA contractor Shawn Ryan, California Gov. Gavin Newsom — widely considered a top Democratic candidate for president in 2028 — insisted he supported the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms.
He even accepted a gift Sig Sauer P365 XMACRO pistol. “This is fabulous,” the governor said. “I’m not anti-gun at all. I’m just for gun safety, common sense. The vast majority of folks on the right and the left agree.”
That’s one way to frame things.
Over the years in California, Newsom has backed numerous gun-control laws. One was Proposition 63, which voters passed in 2019 with strong support from Newsom when he was lieutenant governor. |

Whenever a victory for gun owners happens, a setback often follows. While many are still celebrating the success in the OBB—a reduction of the NFA tax stamp to $0—this has opened another can of worms. Currently, there’s a bill moving through Congress titled “H.R.3944 – Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, 2026.” Sounds harmless, right?
But It’s About Guns? While this is essentially a budget bill dealing with military and agency affairs, anti-gun senators took the opportunity to enter Senate Amendment 2973 to H.R.3944. It reads: |

California Gov. Gavin Newsom is doing all he can to obfuscate his abysmal record to prepare for a White House bid in 2028. His latest stunt – he received a SIG Sauer P365X-Macro from Shawn Ryan while he was sitting for a podcast interview.
It gets better. Gov. Newsom actually said, “I’m not anti-gun at all. I’m just for some gun safe common-sense. I’m challenged by large capacity clips in urban centers, weapons of war sometimes outgunning the police. But otherwise, man, people have the right to bear arms. I got no ideological opposition to that at all.” |

Following the recent shooting in New York City, one could barely count to five before gun control advocates started spewing their predictable calls to outlaw so-called “assault weapons.” This time, it was a race between New York Gov. Kathy Hochul and Jessica Tarlov, Fox News’ token leftist on the wildly popular program The Five, to see who could beat the anti-gun drum first. However, President Donald Trump wasn’t having any of it and called Tarlov on the carpet when she issued an appeal for another assault weapons ban. |
