Meghan McCain made it crystal clear to her co-hosts that “gun grabbing” by politicians equals not voting for them as she said point-blank she refused to live “without guns.” The fireworks came Tuesday during the first episode back for “The View” co-hosts as they kicked-off of season 23 while discussing the mass shooting in Odessa, Texas over the weekend that left seven people dead, according to the Daily Beast.

Former Vice President Joe Biden suggested on Monday that it was "absolutely mindless" the United States doesn't ban firearms and magazines that hold "multiple bullets." "The idea that we don’t have elimination of assault type weapons, magazines that can hold multiple bullets in them," the Democratic frontrunner told reporters. "It’s absolutely mindless. It’s no violation of the Second Amendment. It’s just a bow of special interests of the gun manufacturers and the NRA."

Under Senate Bill 535, licensed holders are now allowed to carry handguns in churches and established places of worship. Senator Donna Campbell of New Braunfels filed the bill, that went into effect on September first. Campbell said the previously existing statute was "confusing and clunky." The new bill clarifies "the Legislature's intent to treat churches in the same manner as other privately owned establishments in Texas." Churches can still prohibit guns with signage if they choose to do so.

Walmart rejected claims by Second Amendment advocates that it was giving in to antigun lobbyists when it announced Tuesday that the super chain would discontinue handgun sales in Alaska and the sale of short-barrel rifle and handgun ammunition nationwide. In a statement to Fox News, Walmart spokesman Randy Hargrove said the store was bringing its "ammunition offerings in line with our firearms assortment."

In a unanimous opinion issued Aug. 29, judges Kenneth Ripple, David Hamilton and Amy St. Eve, of the U.S. Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, said the two Cook County residents who appealed a dismissal of their Second Amendment challenge argued from the same losing position as the plaintiff in a 2015 case. The law at question is the Blair Holt Assault Weapons Ban, a November 2006 amendment to the Cook County Deadly Weapons Dealer Control Ordinance that “defines ‘assault weapon’ and ‘large-capacity magazine,’ and makes it illegal to ‘manufacture, sell, offer or display for sale, give, lend, transfer ownership of, acquire, carry or possess’ either item in Cook County.”

It's no secret that Chicago has some of the strictest gun control laws on the books. Sadly, the Windy City is also one of the most violent hotbeds in the nation. During Labor Day weekend, 25 people were shot. Seven died from their injuries. Texas Sen. Ted Cruz (R) used the example to show, once again, why disarmed law-abiding Americans is a bad idea.

I’m from the first mass shooting generation. I was nine years old in 1999 when Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold killed 12 students and one teacher in the Columbine shooting. I remember the lock-down drills that followed in my elementary school; listening as my principal came over the loudspeaker reciting the name of a long-dead actor as our codeword: “Cary Grant is in the building. I repeat, Cary Grant is in the building.”

Kroger is asking shoppers to leave their guns home – stopping short of banning the "open carry" of firearms in states like Ohio and Kentucky where it is legal. The retailer also endorsed laws strengthening background checks and for keeping guns out of the hands of people deemed at risk of waging violence.

In the space of 25 months, there have been at least six major mass shootings in Texas. Eighty-one people have died in these incidents. Nearly 100 people were injured, some in ways that are debilitating. I don’t live in Texas any longer, but these attacks feel personal all the same: The El Paso shooting happened in the neighborhood where I grew up, and my mother’s family lives in the area where the latest West Texas shooting took place.

The state isn’t here to give you everything you want—not even if what you want is extraordinarily popular with your fellow Americans. This is, no doubt, disorientating for voters who grew up believing they live in a “democracy.” In reality, our un-democratic constitutional bulwarks temper the vagaries of the majority. “Had every Athenian citizen been a Socrates,” James Madison quipped, “every Athenian assembly would still have been a mob.”

Lawmakers around the country are making a renewed push to ban high-capacity magazines that gunmen have used in many recent massacres, allowing them to inflict mass casualties at a startling rate before police can stop the carnage. Nine states have passed laws restricting magazine capacity to 10 to 15 cartridges, and the Democratic-led U.S. House plans to consider a similar ban at the federal level in the coming weeks.

Lorin Michki is a young artist who is making a lot of noise with his detailed firearm illustrations. In an era of digital design, Lorin has gone old school, leveraging his traditional skills with pen and ink to visually connect with the golden age of firearms, illustrating gunpowder, steel and wood in all its glory. I found it quite interesting to meet a member of the next generation of American gun owners—a man who celebrates his Second Amendment rights with a pistol and a pen, and finds them both mightier than the sword.

During a September 3 appearance on The Hugh Hewitt Show Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) pledged votes for any gun control supported by President Trump. He made clear there will be no votes for gun control without Trump’s support, as that would simply signal votes for legislation that will not become law.

Mormon church declares: No guns in church. This is the new rule from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Note, it makes an exception for “only ones” law enforcement officers. Since the Mormon Church is always lead by a man said to be a prophet of God (the highest prophet since he leads the Church), this is a big deal. Unless LDS members can challenge the authority of their President, they MUST accept this ruling as from God.

If timing is everything, the management at Walmart may have just made a decision that—at least in Washington State—may hurt its bottom line, as the store announced Tuesday it is discontinuing sales of handgun ammunition, according to the Washington Times.

The Washington Department of Licensing reported Tuesday that the number of active concealed pistol licenses in the Evergreen State has risen to more than 629,000. That’s up more than 1,550 CPLs from Aug. 1, and for the year, an increase of more than 29,500 active licenses since the first of the year.
