... "Colandro has put himself on the line with his candid and honest responses. For guts alone he deserves a nod. Name one other candidate who has publicly given this much specific information and indicated a willingness and approachability to give more. For that reason, and because of my agreement with most of what he pledges, he has my support and endorsement, and will likely be the only candidate who does unless more choose to unequivocally and properly answer these questions." ...

... "That this has evidently not happened yet may just be a bit of payback, or, if his resentment for past attacks is strong enough, DeBlasio may wish to pursue an independent 'gun control' agenda without giving any support to the Bloomberg efforts altogether. If that turns out to be the case, it would be a major embarrassment, not to mention a supreme irony, for Bloomberg to lose his flagship New York City at the same time he is expanding MAIG efforts into the states." ...

... "MAIG had not yet merged with MDA at the time the information requests were filed, and the question of whether city facilities, assets, personnel and clock time were used to work on the Moms’ group operations and activities, in addition to MAIG’s, merits being looked into. Such an audit should include as many other personnel as may have been involved, along with relevant phone records, emails and time reporting, if applicable. Of interest would be if political advocacy posts on social media coincided with working hours, suggested by a preliminary investigation." ...

"To the official of the Connecticut State Police who attempted to call me last night:"

"Yeah, your caller ID showed up on my television screen, so yes, I deliberately ignored you. There were a couple of reasons for this. Number one, although I would have loved to get your voice on tape (Alabama is a one party state), I was upstairs and my recording equipment is downstairs. Number two, you called quite late at the end of a long and fatiguing day and frankly I just wasn't in the mood for whatever tyranneau games you were attempting to play. (Tyranneau is my new favorite French word. It means 'petty tyrant.' Something you Connecticut bureaucrats are getting pretty good at with your own people these days.)" ...

"As can be seen above, 'The dog that didn't bark' is an expression from a Sherlock Holmes mystery. This by now well known observation referred to an important clue that led to identifying the criminal. The killer entered and left the estate grounds one night but without the guard dog barking an alarm at the intruder's presence as expected. ..."

"The odd thing about the Toys for Totalitarians campaign is the almost total absence of both press coverage and official reaction from the recipients in the four affected states and the District of Columbia. Apart from Connecticut, where there was some small coverage by the Red Queen here and here and the official response (see here and here), the silence has been bloody deafening." ...

"'A gun is just a tool. No better and no worse than any other tool, a shovel or an axe or a saddle or a stove or anything. Think of it always that way. A gun is as good — and as bad — as the man who carries it.' Shane, by Jack Schaefer, 1949."
"No one could call me a gun nut. I go shooting with friends at most once or twice a year ... But as far as I’m concerned, the wisdom above from the best western novel I ever read (and reiterated in the famous 1953 film) doesn’t go far enough. A gun is not just a tool, it is the great democratic tool, the tool that put an end to knights in armor and gave (and gives) the little guy and gal a fighting chance against the powers that be." ...

"Laitres’s lecture on gun ownership is silly, irresponsible and juvenile at best. No responsible gun owner says or implies guns are 'the answer to any disagreement or offense' as he insists. Owning a gun certainly rids one of the 'fear and paranoia' he accuses gun owners have. Yes, everyone does express 'horror' at mass shootings. That’s the perfect example of the necessity for concealed carry. If just one person in the Aurora theater had a concealed weapon, he could have taken out the mad gunman and saved many lives and thousands of taxpayer dollars to hire lawyers to protect the killer." ...

"The versatility of the 300 AAC Blackout cartridge may be its biggest weakness. The wide variety of bullet weights that you can use, and the vast differences between supersonic and subsonic velocities, means that one single BDC reticle doesn’t really cut the mustard. You need a purpose built reticle to handle the caliber, and until now that has meant a hefty price tag. But Pride Fowler Industries have come out with a budget scope for the 300 AAC Blackout caliber called the RR-Evolution BLK that claims to do it all." ...

Their first offering is a $4,000 .308 Winchester bolt action rifle, and I’m not feeling it. It might be that the barrel uses button rifling instead of the more precise cut rifling process that high-end rifle manufacturers use, or that the stock is basically a chopped up Magpul PRS, or that it looks as ugly as the rest of MPA’s line of firearms, I can’t put my finger on it. "North Texas Custom Kydex (NTCK) is a small, family-owned company manufacturing custom holsters and magazine carrier systems. The owners, Steve and Janelle Krivoruk, are based out of the small town of McKinney, Texas. In April of last year, the Krivoruk family contacted me via TTAG after reading my article on the Steyr M9. In that article, I had lamented that there weren’t many holster options available for the gun. Steve and Janelle wanted me to know that they produced a Kydex holster that would fit the M9, and offered to send me one to review. I gladly accepted, and ended up liking it so much, I had them make me another holster for my CZ 83. Here’s the scoop . . ." ...

"Judicial Watch has obtained via a lawsuit what the Second Amendment Foundation hasn’t gotten by request – records and e-mails showing the very tight relationship between the office of former New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg and [MAIG] – and Wednesday’s report in The Blaze only scratches the surface of what those documents reveal."

"SAF was joined in its request by the [CCRKBA], and Tom Gresham, host of the nationally-syndicated 'Gun Talk.' The Judicial Watch lawsuit, filed in October, sought much of the same information: records relating to Bloomberg’s Mayors group after newspaper allegations that city resources had been used to support MAIG’s gun control efforts. "It boggles the mind that marriage licenses and driver’s licenses are recognized in every state of the union, but not my concealed handgun license. You’d think that the 'full faith and credit' clause would take care of that, since all 50 states now have some sort of concealed carry law on the books and the court recognizes that carrying guns is a constitutionally protected act. Senator John Cornyn, from the great state of Texas, just proposed a new bill that would eliminate that double standard and provide for universal reciprocity. I’m guessing that it’s the result of the pressure he feels from his fellow Texas Senator Ted Cruz to make him stand out in an election year, but either way I’ll take it. ... "... The officer — from the Transportation Authority Police, as it turns out, Maryland’s version of the New York-New Jersey Port Authority — strolls up, does the license and registration bit, and returns to his car."

"According to Kally and John ... what happened next went like this:"

"Ten minutes later he’s back, and he wants John out of the Expedition. Retreating to the space between the SUV and the unmarked car, the officer orders John to hook his thumbs behind his back and spread his feet. 'You own a gun,' the officer says. 'Where is it?'"

"'At home in my safe,' John answers."

"'Don’t move,' says the officer."

"Now he’s at the passenger’s window. 'Your husband owns a gun,' he says. 'Where is it?'"

"First Kally says, 'I don’t know.' Retelling it later she says, 'And that’s all I should have said.' Instead, attempting to be helpful, she added, 'Maybe in the glove [box]. Maybe in the console. ...'"

"The officer came back to John. 'You’re a liar. You're lying to me. Your family says you have it. Where is the gun? Tell me where it is and we can resolve this right now.'" ...

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. — JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821)
