Results of a survey conducted at the six Kansas universities in the Regents system shows that a strong majority of faculty and staff prefers to see the state gun law changed so that handguns are not allowed inside campus buildings.

A hefty 70 percent want to keep guns out of university buildings, and overall, most survey respondents indicated that allowing concealed carry on campus would make them feel less safe, according to survey results released last week.

Secrets are tough to keep around SHOT Show time, and were glad the expiration date is up on this one: Today, the Glock 17 and Glock 19 join the list of pistols offered in the MOSModular Optic Systemconfiguration.

Not that we can blame the folks in Smyrna: If nothing else, its fun to have something new, or at least newish, to spring on industry friends and competitors alike. And we hope nobody is silly enough to think the folks at Glock didnt know that their pseudo-secret was out, or at least deduced by many. Still, the forms must be observed.

A Deerfield Beach convenience store clerk shot and killed a masked robber this weekend the second time in six years that store personnel shot a would-be robber. This time, police say Raymond B. Prescott II, 44, died in a shootout with the owner and two clerks at Snappy's Convenience Store, on Southeast 10th St., just east of Dixie Highway.

Kimberly Corban spoke at President Obamas Town Hall on Guns. She told the president.

I survived rape. Now Im a mom. Carrying a gun to protect me and my family is my responsibility. Your restrictions make it harder for me to buy a gun and carry it where I need to.

President Obama disagreed.

Kimberly knew she wouldnt change the presidents mind, but she hoped the president would at least listen to her. I think the president lied at least six times in his answer to Misses Corban, I want to focus on one thing President Obama said.

He said you are safer without a gun. Let's look at the facts.

A Saco man accused of participating in an illegal gun-running scheme made his first court appearance Friday in U.S. District Court. Charles Poe Shells, 47, was indicted last year along with three other men in federal court in New York City on one count each of firearms trafficking conspiracy, firearms trafficking and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
