The Nebraska Supreme Court has issued an order announcing that it will hear the Liberty Justice Center’s legal challenge to several Lincoln weapons ordinances and an executive order by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird banning firearms on city property—even parks and trails—because they violate a state law protecting the right to bear arms statewide and banning local weapons regulations.
In April 2023, Nebraska enacted Legislative Bill 77, which establishes “constitutional carry” across the state, nullifies local laws that regulate weapons, and prohibits local governments from enacting new weapons regulations not expressly authorized by state law. |

The Nebraska Supreme Court has agreed to hear the Liberty Justice Center’s legal challenge to several City of Lincoln weapon ordinances and an executive order by Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird.
The Court issued an order granting the Liberty Justice Center’s petition on Thursday. A hearing date has not yet been announced.
The litigation firm alleges the city’s ban on firearms on city property—including parks and trails—violates a state law protecting the right to bear arms statewide and banning local weapons regulations. |

The prohibition on carrying guns in the State Capitol was expanded this year to include lawmakers, but it didn’t come with any new security protocols or enforcement.
Colorado lawmakers face a new rule this year: They can no longer bring guns into the State Capitol.
The ban is part of a state law passed last year that generally prohibits carrying guns in so-called “sensitive spaces,” including government buildings, polling places, childcare facilities, and schools. The law went into effect for most locations last summer. |

Next week, tens of thousands of gun makers and sellers will gather in Las Vegas for the annual Shooting, Hunting, Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show hosted by the National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF), the gun industry’s trade association. The NSSF boasts that SHOT Show attendees can walk “13.9 miles of aisles” to see all the new firearms, ammunition, and accessories on display. |

NRA Women have traditionally enjoyed shooting the variety of Heckler & Koch pistols, and the German-made pistols have consistently scored respectably in our Ladies Pistol Projects. But how about a made-in-America H&K? That’s right. Even those Heckler & Koch’s new CC9 pistol boasts German steel, the 9 mm Luger-chambered micro-compact is notable for more reasons than its size. The CC9 marks the first official product made at the Heckler & Koch facility in Columbus, Ga., meaning that it doesn't have to conform to German firearm export laws or U.S. firearm import laws like all Heckler & Koch's previous firearms. |

A husband and wife are no longer facing charges in connection to the stabbing of a MOD Pizza employee, prosecutors say.
Both Corey and Catherine Harper were arrested back in November and charged with malicious wounding, with Corey facing an additional charge for brandishing a firearm.
However, the Norfolk Commonwealth's Attorney's Office said the charges were dropped Tuesday. They said after reviewing a video of the entire incident, alongside additional evidence, they determined the couple was acting in legitimate self-defense. |

The Founding Fathers expressly warned against this. Choosing simply to ignore the Constitution, they believed, would enable tyrants to overstep their bounds.
Just as opponents of the Eighteenth Amendment had to repeal it by amendment before they could legislate against it, the same applies today, for example, to opponents of the Second Amendment.
The meaning of the text is unmistakably clear. “A well-regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” To in any way infringe upon that right is unconstitutional.
Ed.: Also, a President can't just tweet a new amendment into existence. |

Sen. Steve Daines is set to introduce a bill Thursday afternoon to prohibit the federal government from using taxpayers’ funds to enter contracts with anti-Second Amendment companies.
“Democrats and woke corporations have proven over and over again that they want to carry out an unconstitutional, overreaching, gun-grabbing agenda, and under no circumstances should our federal government use taxpayer dollars for these efforts,” said Daines, R-Mont. |

Amid multiple recent challenges to state gun control laws, the Illinois Supreme Court heard arguments on Tuesday concerning the constitutionality of concealed carry licenses and open carry bans.
Under Illinois’ aggravated unlawful use of a weapon statute, individuals are not allowed to carry a firearm in public unless the person has a valid Concealed Carry License. Tyshon Thompson, the defendant, was convicted of violating the statute in March 2022 after having been involved in a highway shooting two years earlier. |

On Wednesday, Donald Trump’s Attorney General pick described herself as a Second Amendment advocate who would “enforce the laws of the land.” When asked about her support for new gun restrictions during her time as Florida’s AG, including backing age restrictions and helping craft a “red flag” law, she pointed to her experience responding to mass shootings as formative for her gun views. While she declined to endorse any particular gun-control proposal, her explanation of her beliefs sounded a lot more like what you’d expect from a modern Democrat than the next Republican AG.
More troubling for gun-rights activists than Bondi’s comments, though, may be who they were in response to. |

The State of Illinois’ Democrat Governor J.B. Pritzker announced Monday that he will sign House Bill 4144, a bill born as a measure dealing with the disruption of fire hydrants that was later gutted to incorporate “Karina’s Law.” The new measure now strips away the Second Amendment right to possess a firearm from anyone who is the subject of a domestic violence order of protection.
As reported by The Center Square, the now amended bill will require Police Departments to confiscate firearms from anyone who has an order of protection against them as opposed to the current statute which gives them the opportunity to hand over their firearms to a qualified, third party of their choice. |

Note “reported” is in quotes. It’s not the first time a “real reporter” has filed a one-sided PR piece masked as news. This “journalist” ought to go far—until the publisher figures out AI can parrot talking points a lot cheaper. |

On January 13, the United States Supreme Court declined to hear two Second Amendment-related cases, the first being a challenge to Delaware’s “assault weapons” and standard-capacity magazine ban and the second covering Maryland handgun licensing requirements. As I intend to be critical of the High Court, I offer in fairness to concede that its previously issued rulings that should have been considered by state legislation, especially in the case of Delaware, but were not. I understand the monotony of redundant legal challenges the justices have already ruled upon. However, ignoring or turning away these redundancies fails to address the real issue: lawmakers’ refusal to adhere to the Supreme Court’s decisions. |

U.S. Senators Roger Marshall (R-KS) and Jim Risch (R-ID), along with a coalition of pro-Second Amendment lawmakers, have introduced the Sporting Firearms Access Act, a bill designed to prevent the ATF from arbitrarily blocking the import of firearms and ammunition into the United States. The legislation seeks to provide clarity to the “sporting purposes” test used by the ATF to regulate imports under the Gun Control Act of 1968. |

The focus is a massive, nearly billion-record gun registry that has alarmed gun rights advocates and spurred action from Congressional leaders. |

In 2022 NRA Women was lucky enough to participate in a women-only shoot at the famed Gunsite Academy for the purposes of testing the then-new Mossberg 940 Pro Tactical 12-gauge semi-automatic shotgun. The gun was so well-received, we ultimately awarded it the NRA Golden Bullseye for Long Gun of the Year.
We’re happy to report that for 2025 Mossberg has refined the widely popular shotgun, adding sought-after tactical features, and calling it the 940 Pro Tactical SPX. Based on Mossberg’s cleaner-running and redesigned 940 Pro gas-operating system, this feature-rich, optic-ready platform is available in 8-Shot or 5-Shot versions with 18.5” AccuChoke-compatible barrels. |
