Wichita amassed more homicides in 2018 than in any year since 1995. The Wichita Eagle reports that at least 43 people died by homicide in Wichita over the past year, up five from 2017. Wichita police say the increase can in part be attributed to self-defense killings, which increased by five from three to eight. Kansas is among several states where residents have no legal obligation to retreat from an attacker in a place where they are lawfully present.

Walther rocked the action pistol world with the Q5 Match, a gun immediately embraced by competitors and so seemingly flawless that it begged the question of whether it could be improved upon. The answer may well be no, as far as the limits of the material from which it is fabricated polymer. So, what did the company do to satisfy its own impulse to innovate? It changed the frame material.

The Second Amendment is one of most fundamental provisions of the Bill of Rights, and one of the most fiercely debated. Since it was first put to paper, legal scholars, gun owners and anti-gun activists have engaged in an endless discussion over the meaning and scope of the Second Amendment, and for most of that time, gun owners have been on the losing side of the argument.

Hundreds of gun owning Floridians have been ordered to surrender their firearms under a new Red-Flag law signed by the governor just three weeks after a gunman entered Stoneman Douglas High School and opened fire. The Risk Protection Order, signed by Florida Gov. Rick Scott, essentially strips a persons second amendment rights if a task force team and a judge believe it is warranted meaning if the person shows any signs of being a threat to themselves or others.

Tired of making the same old resolutions year after year? If my guess is correct, most of us still need to shave off a few pounds, get organized, learn a new skill or spend more time with the folks we care about. But rather than trot out the hackneyed goals that we've all learned to ignore by mid March, I decided that 2019 would be a good year to slate some resolutions that are not only do-able, but enjoyable too. Here are six New Year's resolutions for fans of the shooting sports.

For the second year in a row, gun violence in Chicago fell. Homicides in 2018 dropped nearly 28 percent over 2016, to 561, and shootings plunged nearly 33 percent, to 2,391.
