"During his presidential campaign, Barack Obama assured gun owners that he was no threat to gun rights. And so far, his administration has publicly steered clear of the issue. After all, Obama knows that a direct assault on the Second Amendment would be political suicide."

"However, behind the scenes, he and his staff have shown support for the U.N. Gun Ban, an international treaty on small arms sales that could sidestep established American gun rights and pose a serious threat to the Second Amendment."

"But how could a U.N. Gun Ban affect the rights of Americans?" ...

Nearly 1,500 essays were submitted this year." ...

Where does Political Correctness end?

"Hell's Bells! Will Political Correctness be the undoing of the United States? We already turned a blind eye to the foreshadowing behaviors of the shooter at Ft. Hood, and now the US military is all excited to remove very subtle references to the Bible from gun sights because they might upset our allies in Iraq and Afghanistan. The gun sights are manufactured by a company called Trijicon and at the end of their serial numbers, they included endings such as JN8:12. They have been doing this for nearly 30 years and the sites worked just fine. All the verses pertain to 'light' which I find to be rather clever since the sights use Tritium which glows for about 10 years to allow the sights to be used in dim light. ..." ...

"Yesterday, the Supreme Court struck down some longstanding restrictions on political advocacy spending."
"In a 5-4 decision, the court ruled that laws barring corporations from advocating explicitly for candidates and from having even issue ads run within 60 days of a general election are an encroachment on their freedom of speech."
"As Justice Kennedy wrote for the majority opinion:"
"The government may regulate corporate political speech through disclaimer and disclosure requirements, but it may not suppress that speech altogether."

"The United States government has filed a Motion to Dismiss the lawsuit filed by the Montana Shooting Sports Association and the Second Amendment Foundation. The suit was filed the support the Montana Firearms Freedom Act which declares that any firearms made and retained in-state are beyond the authority of Congress under its constitutional power to regulate commerce among the states."

"The argument is that the Federal government has overstepped its authority in attempting to regulate and tax firearms that never cross a state border. The Feds counter that it is a valid exercise of commerse power because even sales of firearms that don't cross state lines have an effect on interstate commerce." ...

"It's the third day of the SHOT Show for the dealers attending, the fourth day for the professionals who got there early for set-up and networking and advanced product testing."

AR15 rifle variants are everywhere. One theme this year of our host, the [NSSF], is that 'AR' stands for 'America's Rifle.' It's good to see new companies coming in and being innovative. American Spirit Arms introduces an AR15 with a bolt operating lever located on the left side above the magazine, like an FN FAL. This eliminates the one non-ergonomic feature of Gene Stoner's Armalite design in this writer's opinion: the awkward T-handle at the rear of the action. The price is competitive, the action is smooth, and the handling IS faster. ..." ...

"Neither gun manufacturers' profits and quasi-interpreted Second Amendment rights, nor the convenience of packing heat are valid reasons to endanger innocent lives any longer."

"Six police officers were shot and killed within two months in Puget Sound. A young man was shot over an iPod and two teenagers were shot in Burien at an apartment complex."

"Enough. We need gun control, and we need it now."

"Why would someone need more than say, five weapons? I mean really, from Saturday night specials to pearl handled .45 automatics, the obsession has verged on psychosis ..." ...

Submitter's Note: Not that I need to justify myself to you, but: .22 pistol and rifle for inexpensive plinking and target practice, full size double-stack .45 for carry when concealment is not vital, 9mm backup gun in the pocket (or when the .45 has to stay home), .45 Long Colt lever gun for deer hunting in the brush, .308 bolt rifle for deer hunting on the plains, 28 ga shotgun for doves and such, 12 gauge for geese and ducks, let's see, that's eight, um ... oh yeah! a half-dozen of cheap (but accurate) .308 Enfield bolt actions for sniping and dumping, .308 FAL for medium range fighting, 12 ga mag fed semi-auto for room clearing and a .50 BMG for hard targets like limos. That's 17. You can try to limit me to 5, but please come for them yourself, don't send someone else's sons and daughters into harms way. III
