Long-standing firearms charges against Bennington resident Max Misch were upheld by a Bennington judge as an April trial date is set.
Long-standing charges that called into question Vermont gun control law, the right of citizens under the Second Amendment, what constitutes protected behavior, and, during its long course, involved national gun control organizations. The charges were upheld by a Bennington Judge in a 15-page written decision, which, for now, dismissed the notion that purchasing or possessing large-capacity magazines is protected conduct under Federal law. |

A Republican lawmaker has filed a House Joint Resolution, the first step in amending the state constitution, aimed at reaffirming Second Amendment rights for Tennessee citizens and restricting the ability of the legislature to regulate the wearing of firearms.
HJR0053, sponsored by Rep. Jay Reedy (R-Dist.74-Erin) proposes Article 1, Section 26 of the Tennessee Constitution be amended to ensure the legislature cannot restrain a citizen’s right to keep and bear arms. |

The 119th Congress is one of the most diverse delegations in the history of the U.S. One-quarter of the members are people of color, and it represents the first time two black women have simultaneously served in the U.S. Senate. This delegation will also see the first Korean American in the Senate, among other firsts.
The breadth of backgrounds and beliefs in the 119th Congress reflects the diversity of America, and so do our nation’s gun owners.
In fact, the firearm community today is the most diverse it has ever been. More than 25 million people have become first-time gun owners since 2020, bringing with them a surge in gun ownership among communities that historically hadn’t been as keen to exercise their Second Amendment rights.

Chris Boeck, General Counsel, Silencer Shop said, “We’re thrilled to collaborate with Congressman Pfluger’s office on this transformative legislation. The PARTS Act introduces commonsense changes to the NFA definition of ‘silencer,’ ensuring that standalone parts like end caps, wipes, and adaptors are not improperly classified as silencers. We deeply appreciate Congressman Pfluger’s leadership in safeguarding Second Amendment rights and supporting the silencer community.” |

Amid multiple recent challenges to state gun control laws, the Illinois Supreme Court heard arguments early last week concerning the constitutionality of concealed carry licenses and open carry bans.
Under Illinois’ aggravated unlawful use of a weapon statute, individuals are not allowed to carry a firearm in public unless the person has a valid Concealed Carry License. Tyshon Thompson, the defendant, was convicted of violating the statute in March 2022 after having been involved in a highway shooting two years earlier. |

During a shooting incident at Antioch High School in Nashville Wednesday morning, two students were wounded when another student allegedly opened fire in the cafeteria before shooting himself. The school was placed on lockdown with police responding to the scene, and officials began gathering students in the auditorium for eventual reunification with their families.
The debate over gun reform in America is fucked. While bodies pile up in schools, grocery stores, and city streets, the political willpower to do anything meaningful about it keeps shrinking.

In a recent discussion on Four Boxes Diner, constitutional attorney and host Mark Smith delved into a crucial case that could redefine how the Bill of Rights, especially the Sixth Amendment, is interpreted in relation to our fundamental rights, including the Second Amendment.
As the case unfolds, it beckons a broader call to embrace originalism—the practice of interpreting the Constitution as it was understood at the time of its drafting. This approach is not only about preserving the integrity of the Constitution but also about ensuring that modern interpretations do not stray from the founders’ intent. |

Maury Danielle says her ex regularly threatened her with gun violence during their marriage — a common experience for survivors of domestic abuse.
“It was always the intimidation of weapons and the deep desire for them,” Danielle said.
Danielle says she would come home from church and find him looking at guns on his computer. That, she says, was one of the many ways her abuser would assert power and control. She later founded a nonprofit, B Free 2 Fly International, to advocate for survivors of domestic violence like herself. |

The 590R series feature rotary safety selectors as the newest additions to the tactical end of the pump family.
Mossberg did more than just adopt a rotary safety over its traditional tang safety. It also redesigned the more compact, ergonomic forend and integrated, full-length, single-piece heat shield over the barrel.
While the 590R uses a more standard tubular magazine, the 590RM feeds off of detachable 10-round magazines. There’s also a flat-bladed trigger, Picatinny rail, and Magpul MBUS3 sights on select models. The same dual extractors, steel-to-steel lockup, twin action bars, and anti-jam elevator remain. |

Countless new firearm models were announced at SHOT Show 2025, but, with no disrespect to any gun manufacturers intended, most are variations of designs that have been around for a long time and are usually reactions to trends rather than attempts to set their own. However, there was also no shortage of innovation and out-side-the-box thinking in evidence on the showroom floor—if you know where to look for it. Here are a half dozen of the more eccentric products that American Rifleman’s staff found in Las Vegas this week: |

New York City Mayor Eric Adams today announced that the New York City Police Department (NYPD) has removed more than 20,000 illegal firearms from New York City streets since the beginning of the administration.
Which is approximately 3,000 more guns off our streets than the previous three-year period from 2019 to 2021. Because of the Adams administration’s steadfast focus on eradicating gun violence, homicides and shootings have consistently declined over the last three years — with homicides decreasing a total of 22.7 percent and shootings decreasing 42.2 percent since Mayor Adams was sworn in on January 1, 2022. |

This letter is in response to the article printed in The Chronicle on Jan. 7 titled “Washington state lawmakers propose six gun control bills ahead of 2025 legislative session.”
These lawmakers all took an oath. That oath is very simple. It as follows:
“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support the Constitution of the United States and the Constitution and laws of the state of Washington.”
These are the names, listed in The Chronicle, of several elected officials who took that oath and aren’t keeping their promise to uphold their oath to protect the Constitution. |
