"I would like to comment on the Dec. 28 News editorial, 'Credible action in Albany.' If the governor and State Legislature were serious about public safety, they would abolish the Sullivan Act and bring New York law in line with other states like Pennsylvania and Ohio, which allow ordinary people to carry a concealed handgun so they can protect themselves. ..."

"Meanwhile, legislators in Albany continue to defy common sense by thinking that violent thugs with felony rap sheets a mile long will obey new tougher laws against 'illegal' guns. Other states don't export their guns to us. New York imports thugs from other states, who know liberals are working hard to perpetuate an environment where they can ply their trade with little fear ..."

FULL TEXT BELOW:

A robbery suspect is in the hospital after attempting to steal from an Elkhart County business.

At around 12:30 Monday afternoon a teenager tried to rob the Media Madhouse store on U.S. 20.

The teen walked into the store and pointed a gun at an employee.

A second employee told the robber he would meet his demands. Instead, he took a gun from behind the counter and shot him in the chest.

The robbery suspect was later dropped off at Elkhart General Hospital for treatment. There's no word on the extent of his injuries.

Elkhart County Police are investigating the robbery.

"This story suggests that this was an apparent random act by a convicted felon in a place where explicit permission to carry a handgun for self defense must be obtained. Under current Ohio law, CHL-holders are banned from attending worship services (or even entering the church building) while armed, unless the church authorizes entry."

"Most multiple victim public shootings take place where guns are banned. ..."

... "Each time a woman living in our midst suffers a violent death at the hands of a husband or lover ('Police arrest husband after trying to save wife,' Register-Guard, Dec. 24), we all lose."

"In November, Kelly filed a restraining order against her estranged husband. In her petition, Kelly wrote that her husband had access to a rifle and a shotgun: 'There are two loaded guns in the house and I'm afraid he might use them.'"

"Tragically, prophetically, Kelly also wrote: '(The) shotgun is loaded.' One month later, a loaded gun would be the instrument of her death." ...

"Some incidents, such as the December 26 shootings on a crowded downtown Toronto street that left a 15-year-old girl dead and six others wounded beg for a response from all levels of government. When one of these governments is in the middle of an election campaign, it is easy to label statements that are made or actions undertaken as simply playing politics for electoral gain. Keeping that caveat in mind, the federal Liberals went way over the top in exploiting what will be forever known in the history of the city, once known as Toronto the Good, as the 'Boxing Day shootings'." ...
