"The 'rationale' used here, that OIG is required to make disclosures, is one we’ve seen in the unfolding Fast and Furious story, along with DOJ misusing the disclosed information, so this is neither a new, nor an unfounded concern."

Gun Owners of America: Must Stop Obama's Second Term

The race for the Republican nomination for President is neck and neck. The four remaining candidates are spending millions of dollars tearing each other apart for the chance to take on President Obama in November. But while all eyes are on the Republican presidential primary, GOA also has to prepare for something that American gun owners don’t even want to think about; the possibility of a second Obama term. Think about it. A second term for Obama means he will be unencumbered with thoughts about reelection. His political appointees are already radical gun haters. His future picks will be even worse. Executive actions, such as illegally requiring gun dealers along southwest border states to report multiple long gun sales, will increase.

... "Warning: You are under video surveillance," reads the bold message on the side of the truck.
From the front bumper of the menacing vehicle, another sign taunts: "Whatcha gonna do when we come for you?"
The truck is a new weapon for the Fort Lauderdale Police Department in the fight against drugs and neighborhood nuisances, and it looks like a Winnebago on steroids. They call it "The Peacemaker," and it may be a first in South Florida.
Mixing high tech with simplicity, the in-your-face strategy is straightforward: load an out-of-service armored truck with some of the latest surveillance equipment available and decorate it with police emblems. Then, simply leave it parked in front of trouble spots.

"Simply carrying a weapon out in the open wouldn’t be enough for a local municipality to charge a person with disorderly conduct, according to a bill that passed out of a House Committee Monday afternoon.

Rep. Paul Ray, R-Clearfield, sponsored HB49 and said it was a way to ensure a uniform approach to protect gun rights and avoid confusion among law enforcement and local governments that are unclear as to what could be charged as disorderly conduct.

“Just because I’m carrying the gun, they can’t give me a disorderly conduct [charge],” Ray said. “If I’m acting in a threatening way, they certainly can.”

The family of a California police officer shot and killed by fellow cops as they tried to arrest him on sexual misconduct charges are questioning the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Police in Santa Maria, California have yet to identify the officer, but his family told KCOY-TV that his name was Albert Covarrubias, Jr. Early Saturday morning officers arrived at the DUI checkpoint at which Covarrubias was working to arrest him on suspicion of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old girl. Police say Covarrubias would not go without a fight. "He chose to resist, he drew his weapon, a fight ensued, he fired his weapon," said Santa Maria Police Chief Danny Macagni.

It is hard to find a federal judge more friendly to “gun rights” than Judge Sam Cummings of Lubbock, Texas. Yet even Judge Cummings refuses to follow the NRA off the cliff of Second Amendment extremism. Judge Cummings achieved iconic status in the “gun rights” community in 1999 when, in U.S. v. Emerson, he became the first federal judge to rule that the Second Amendment confers an individual right to possess guns for private purposes. That ruling, literally, was unprecedented.

The Lincoln County sheriff and county clerk will plead guilty to felonies following a ballot box stuffing scheme in the 2010 Democratic primary, U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin's office announced Monday.

According to federal prosecutors, Sheriff Jerry Bowman admitted to falsifying more than 100 applications for absentee ballots for people who were not eligible to vote that way.

Democrat Bowman also arrived at voters' homes, told them who he was planning to vote for and, at last a half dozen times, marked the absentee ballots himself.

Sometimes, it pays not to baby-sit your legislation.

On Monday night, Del. Richard P. "Dickie" Bell's bill that states it is OK to use deadly force against an intruder sailed out of a key House of Delegates subcommittee — the same group that put a similar bill of Bell's on ice last week.

But it did so after Bell left the Criminal Law subcommittee hearing to hurry to another legislative meeting.

"I was joking with my wife, I've been doing this all wrong," Bell, R-Staunton, said. "I was at the subcommittee last week and my bill didn't go; I have to leave tonight, and it gets reported out."

Without a doubt, the candidate with the strongest record of defending the Second Amendment is Congressman Ron Paul. Paul is the only candidate to receive an A+ from the Gun Owners of America. The group says Paul has opposed all gun control legislation that has crossed his path since 1968, and even introduced legislation to repeal the Gun Free School Zone act. In a 2008 essay, Paul pointed out that "the worst shootings happen in gun free zones, like schools" and has urged Americans to be "ever vigilant against any attempts to disarm the people."

After a massive outcry from the Second Amendment community against A588 (backdoor ammo ban) and A1013 (defacing firearms – unintended consequences), the Assembly Law and Public Safety Committee “held” A588 and amended A1013 in response to gun owner concerns.

The effect of holding A588 is to send it back to the drawing board for further review and amendment, and this legislation that would have opened the door to a sweeping ammunition ban will not advance in its present form.

New Hampshire has fish and wildlife refuges. In them, it is illegal to carry firearms. Should it be?

The sponsors of House Bill 1555, which has a public hearing at 10:15 this morning, say no. That bill would replace the ban on carrying firearms in state fish and wildlife refuges with a ban on discharging firearms “for the purpose of taking wildlife.” The argument is that people have a right to bear arms, and they should be able to do so in wildlife refuges.

Chicago legislators once again are trying to rule over gun owners statewide.

The outrageous “Assault Weapons Ban” is back via State Rep. Eddie Acevedo who represents District 2 in Chicago. HB1294 is a repeat effort to ban just about every sporting and self-defense gun owned in Illinois, along with magazines holding more than 10 rounds, unless of course you still have the receipt from when you bought the gun or magazine some 15-20-30 years ago.

It's been two years since Lestina Rumph hugged her son Timothy.

Today a judge signed paperwork to release him, saying the murder he committed was justified. Our cameras were there for the emotional reunion.

It's been a long road for the Rumph family after Timothy killed Gee Gee Gary in December 2010.

"I'm sorry it happened the way it happened. I wish I could take back the hands of time," said Rumph.

Ed.: When it takes two years in jail before a stand your ground determination can be made, clearly the law needs to be tweaked.

Pierson claims in the lawsuit that Deputies Corry Bassett and Rob Andazola handcuffed him for 45 minutes while they repeatedly asked him if he had a gun. Pierson states he was released only after the deputies' supervisor arrived.
