"MURDERS like those of NYPD Det. Dillon Stewart and Det. Daniel Enchautegui remind us of the enormous sacrifice made by the brave men and women committed to protecting us and our communities. Whenever one of our courageous police officers is murdered, we are forced to reexamine whether we have done everything within our means to ensure the safety of those who risk their lives to protect us." ...

... "But the problem facing us goes well beyond the administration of George W. Bush. In truth, Bush is filling a void created by the way our modern system works. The imperial throne of the modern presidency will still be standing in the Executive Branch, waiting to utilized again, after Bush and his cronies have fallen from grace. The next tyrant to occupy the throne may be much worse. Perhaps the next president-elect will be a power mad fascist who decides to strike down the Second Amendment by Presidential Executive Order on his first week in office. ... If this happens, only one thing will be absolutely certain: The tyrant will receive near-unanimous applause from party loyalists--and will not be questioned by an obsequious news media ..." ...

"Anyone who knows anything about the custom/semi-custom 1911 pistol field knows how hugely competitive it is out there. That's one of the reasons why the Phoenix-like rise of Nighthawk Custom over approx. the last year and half is so intriguing. Considering the speed and surprise Nighthawk Custom has exhibited in establishing its presence in the market, it's only appropriate that the company's hawk-and-moon logo emulates the F-117A attack aircraft pilot's patch."

"In Part 1, we glimpsed what life would be like in a Bill of Rights Culture. It won't be Utopia; no one should expect it to be. But it will be better than the present by far. We'll have more freedom. More opportunity. Fewer taxes. Less stifling and silly and pointless bureaucratic regulation. More time to live and work and play the way Americans should."

"I say that we need a Bill of Rights Culture to achieve this kind of America. But how could a Bill of Rights Culture work such a transformation on society?"

"It’s actually pretty simple. A Bill of Rights Culture is one in which governments have strictly limited delegated authority while individual people have a vast realm of rights." ...

"Yesterday, Mr. Bloomberg said, 'I'm concerned about any weapon that kills people, whether it's a small caliber pistol or an assault rifle. The only reason when you live in the city - it may be different if you live in the country - but if you live in the city the only reason to carry a weapon is to kill somebody.'" ...

An Mpumalanga farmer, accused of killing a suspected car thief, may have acted in self-defence, according inspector Suzette Cason of the provincial police.

She said police were investigating if Jacobus Grindstad had acted in self-defence when he shot and killed Samanga Hlamba on New Year's Eve on Onderberg farm near Malelane.

Hlamba, 22, is said to have tried to steal a vehicle at the farm and also pulled a gun on the farmer.

"If the investigation proves that the farmer acted in self-defence, the murder charge will be changed to an inquest," said Cason.

Grindstad has not been arrested. The murder docket has been sent to the national prosecution authority for a decision.
