A deadly stabbing at a Southgate Kroger on Oct. 7 resulted in the death of 23-year-old Ramon Vazquez after an altercation with 33-year-old Charles Hinton. Vazquez attacked Hinton, who then stabbed Vazquez twice in self-defense, according to prosecutors. Hinton will not be charged for the stabbing but faces charges for carrying a concealed weapon, as he illegally possessed the knife used in the incident. Hinton is set to be arraigned on Oct. 11.

Police said the Oct. 10 shooting at the Rock Hill Galleria was in self-defense and will not result in charges against the armed person.

Instead, the man police described as the aggressor, Martrell Telly Minter, 26, of Chester, was charged with assault and battery.

It was about 2 p.m. Friday when the two men became involved in an argument on the mall property, on the north side of Dave Lyle Boulevard, just east of Interstate 77. The other man shot Minter in the shoulder, police said.

For decades, the handgun stood as the undisputed standard for the armed civilian. Its concealability and simplicity made it the go-to tool. However, with the rise of threats requiring rifle-level engagement, the handgun has moved from being the standard for a civilian armed citizen to being viewed as the minimum effective tool for defense. Sheriff Jones himself demonstrated this shift by immediately equipping all his department’s cruisers with rifles and “go bags” in response to terror warnings. We, as armed defenders of freedom, must do the same.

MD: Second Amendment protects transgender gun owners

The Second Amendment does not carve exceptions for people whose existence makes others uncomfortable or those who bear physiological commonality with a select few who have committed inexcusable acts. Equal protection under the law, to be true, must stand as precisely that — equal. To suggest otherwise is to trample not only on the rights of transgender people, but on the constitutional fabric that protects all innocent Americans from arbitrary, prejudicial government overreach.

A major win for President Donald Trump — and for every American who values the Second Amendment — just unfolded in Washington. The U.S. Senate has officially confirmed Professor Jennifer Mascott to the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, marking another crucial step in Trump’s long-term effort to restore an originalist interpretation of the U.S. Constitution to the federal judiciary.

This development, highlighted by constitutional attorney and Second Amendment advocate Mark W. Smith of Four Boxes Diner, could have immediate consequences for pending gun rights cases in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Delaware.

Late last month, Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced that the U.S. Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division filed a lawsuit against the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, “due to their pattern or practice of infringing the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens seeking concealed carry weapons (CCW) permits.”

The lawsuit came about after a six-month federal investigation found “unreasonable delays” in how the LASD issues its CCW permits. LASD officials turned over documents that revealed only two CCW permits had been approved from more than 8,000 applications, and that Sheriff’s officials sometimes waited more than two years to interview applicants and start the process.

When Columbus police officers arrived, they found the victim, 74-year-old Feng Ynag, who was rushed to Grant Medical Center in critical condition. She died a short time later.

Investigators say a man identified himself as the person who shot her. Police are not yet naming him, but said he claimed self-defense and that Yang was threatening him.

"The preliminary investigation revealed domestic violence as a possible motive. The investigation continues and the adult male is cooperating with detectives," CPD said in a statement.

A shooting that resulted in the death of a man has been ruled justified as self-defense, according to a review by the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office.

Colerain police gave an update on the Aug. 16 shooting, saying, following an investigation, the shooting was ruled legally justified under Ohio law regarding self-defense.

Police said an argument led to the shooting, resulting in the death of 42-year-old Matthew McDaniel.

Two men however are facing felony charges for tampering with evidence after attempting to hide firearms.

If you want some Cold War vibes in a gun that’s affordable to own and shoot, the Chiappa RAK-9 is a 9mm AK clone that's worth a look.

This particular model comes ready to run Chiappa’s AK-like 9mm magazines, or you can swap in a toolless adapter and run extended Glock-pattern magazines for elongated pew sessions. The gun has a few interesting quirks, such as a chopped-down gas piston and a skeletonized synthetic stock, but it still has that classic AK feel on the range.

We grabbed one for some extended testing. Here’s how it went.

Among the seeming inconsistencies, the prosecutor argued that Martinez only invoked self-defense at trial and not beforehand.

However, wrote Judge Terry Fox in the Oct. 9 opinion, Martinez’s description of his actions throughout the case was consistent with self-defense. Therefore, the prosecutor went too far by suggesting Martinez’s failure to use the phrase “self-defense” immediately after the stabbing was a reason to find him guilty.

“Here, there was a significant likelihood that the jury assigned undue weight to the prosecutor’s repeated comments implying Martinez’s guilt from his failure to use the words ‘self-defense’ before trial,” Fox wrote.

In a Senate Judiciary Committee Oversight Hearing this week, U.S. Attorney General Pam Bondi faced questions regarding her leadership of the Justice Department.

But at the hearing, U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) used her time questioning the nation’s top law enforcement official to repeat her canned comment about her ‘Uncle Dick’s deer stand’ when reiterating her support for legislation that would infringe upon citizens’ Second Amendment rights by banning popularly-owned firearms.

“Once we read the judge’s order, we took quick and decisive action to ensure our member data will not be supplied to anyone, much less the government,” said SAF Executive Director Adam Kraut. “Thankfully the Department of Justice agreed with our position and has joined in this motion to amend the judgment. However, it should still be made extremely clear, SAF has never – and will never – provide the government a list of our members, and we won’t be strong-armed into turning over the private data of those who support SAF and the Second Amendment.”

FPC Statement on Trump Administration’s Latest Attack on the Second Amendment

Once again, the Trump Administration has chosen to defend federal gun control instead of the Constitution. In its latest filing, the administration urged the Supreme Court to reject review of a case raising a serious and valid Second Amendment challenge to the NFA’s short-barreled rifle provisions—laws with no historical justification and no place in a free society.

The administration’s position on the Second Amendment is now unmistakably clear: federal gun control is good and constitutional, but state gun control is bad and unconstitutional—unless, of course, it mirrors the federal controls they favor.

One of Florida's largest grocery store chains says it will allow open carry at Florida stores following an appeals court ruling last month.

Publix made the announcement on its website, saying, in part, "We follow federal, state and local laws. As is true for many issues which arise every day, Publix leaves it to the discretion of store managers to determine if a customer is creating a threatening, erratic or dangerous shopping experience—whether they are openly carrying a firearm or not—and engage local law enforcement to protect our customers and associates."

ME: Vote yes on Question 2 to protect our children

We have the right to bear arms but we do not have the right to turn our schools and places of worship into war zones. We do not have the right to have teachers feel they must bear arms in school. We do not have the right to kill innocent people in seconds with semi-automatic or automatic guns. We should not have the need to have parents buy bullet-proof backpacks and hoodies for their children

We do however have the right to act, and I believe a “yes” vote on Question 2 is a start, here in Maine. We voters need to step up and dedicate ourselves to protecting innocent people and our most precious investment, our children.

Ed.: Question 2 is a Red Flag law.

The California chapters of Moms Demand Action and Students Demand Action, both part of Everytown for Gun Safety’s grassroots network, issued the following statements after Governor Gavin Newsom signed AB 1127 into law. The legislation prohibits gun dealers from selling firearms that can be easily converted into fully automatic weapons through the simple installation of a switch, which enables pistols to fire at a rate of up to 1,200 rounds per minute. The legislation would not affect law enforcement nor force current owners of these weapons to relinquish their firearms.

hey’re untraceable, accessible, and involved in thousands of violent crimes. Unlike conventional guns, ghost guns — which are purchased as part of a kit — don’t come with serial numbers, making it impossible to know who owns them.

In Tarpon Springs, detectives were able to figure out how a convicted felon purchased and built his own ghost gun. And as our investigation shows, he’s not the only felon to purchase parts online after being banned from buying guns in stores.

Every few years, when a new James Bond film comes out, you can reliably count on one thing: Old Double-Oh-Seven himself will be on the poster with an attractive woman on his arm and a mean-looking firearm—usually a handgun. Unless the film is being shown by Amazon Prime Video, it seems. In an odd and unexpected move in early October, Amazon Prime decided to update its promo photos for the James Bond films by making new posters with firearms airbrushed out of the artwork—sometimes with amusing results.

Once connected to your smartphone or tablet via Daisy’s free app (iOS and Android), it instantly detects every shot, tracks your score and displays animated feedback on-screen. Hit a monster on the paper target, and it reacts in real time on your device. It’s as if your backyard came alive with gameplay, and all you did was pull the trigger.

Rifles, muskets, long-bows and hand-grenades are inherently democratic weapons. A complex weapon makes the strong stronger, while a simple weapon — so long as there is no answer to it — gives claws to the weak. — George Orwell
