"This year, Bracken released the second novel in the trilogy. Domestic Enemies held onto the background established in the first novel, but added to it the probable result of continued unfettered illegal immigration into the country. Once again, the reality is striking even as the story holds the reader's interest."

"After reading Domestic Enemies and finding myself genuinely fearful of some of the near future it outlines, I determined to speak with Matthew Bracken and discuss just how real his fiction might unfortunately prove to be. ... here is the result of our recent conversation." ...

FULL TEXT BELOW:

In the article " 'A horrendous crime scene,' " the crucial sentence was, "Police believe that he chose the school because it was an easy target." Schools are not "gun-free" zones; they are killing zones because we insist that no one inside is armed. Feel-good programs only encourage attacks. We've seen many times that police do not arrive in time (News, Tuesday).

The only way to stop these crimes is to properly train and arm the teachers and administrators so that they can respond from inside the school immediately with deadly force.

"Sheriff Mike Hails 109 in Mayor Posse" (Oct. 6) reports that Mayor Bloomberg led a group of like-minded mayors to Washington, D.C., to demand that Capitol Hill slash the Second Amendment and save us all from violent street thugs.

But one day prior, on Oct. 5, Bloomberg was pictured in The Post with the well-known "crime-fighter," Ice-T, who rose to fame in the '90s with his ode to law and order entitled "Cop Killer."

If Bloomberg truly wants to reduce violent crime, he should be pushing his friends in Albany for legislation to end parole now.
