there is now no legal way out for anyone who has a malfunctioning semi-auto rifle. Can they legally take it to a gunsmith to have it fixed? ..." ...

"Secondly, and even more dangerously, if we can no longer count on a fair trial in a case of obvious ATF misconduct, then rationally, we have no reasonable expectation of a fair trial at all. In that case, we then are faced, when approached by any law enforcement officer attempting to enforce any gun law, with a Hobson's choice:"

"- Submit, and be railroaded unfairly into prison, or

- Resist, and endure not only the personal consequences of that defiance, but also the likely consequences of a regional or even national conflagration." ...

... "Well, there you have it—they trip right out of the starting gate. No 'high-powered automatic weapons' were involved in the Clinton gun ban. That people think they were is a calculated lie used to deceive them into supporting a ban on semiautomatic firearms."

"Gee, globalists spreading lies to enact gun bans. And the 'Authorized Journalist' establishment media is acting as their press agent."

"Imagine that." ...

"On the civil rights front as seen by gun owners, collectors of weapons, and assorted other practical folks, it always seems to be a matter of 'win a few, lose a few.' The past few days seem to indicate a 'lose a few' sequence."

"The Draconian ammunition law in California which we discussed here a few weeks back has, despite a blizzard of mail from honest people all over the country to the Governor's Office in Sacramento, has been signed into law ..."

"Elsewhere in the nation, a little six-year-old boy took a camping tool to school with him to eat his lunch. The innocuous device included a fork, a spoon, and – gasp! – a tiny knife blade. ... the tyke was banished to some sort of local 'reform school,' ..." ...

California AB 962: Much more than ammo?

"Must people who follow gun laws and gun rights issues are aware by now that over the weekend, California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger signed California AB 962. AB 962 requires registration (complete with thumbprint) of purchasers of handgun ammunition, requires retailers to keep the ammunition inaccessible ... etc."

"Although proponents of this legislation reassured hunters and others that the new law would only affect handgun ammo ... this ignores the fact that many calibers are chambered in both rifles and handguns. Given the state of California's politics and 'justice' system, I would certainly not want to bet on ... what is counted as potential handgun ammo, and what is not." ...

"The woman called a second time, telling deputies that there was another attempt to enter her home, upon which the woman exercised her Second Amendment rights and drew a pistol on the man."

"'She did the right thing,' [Sheriff Jim] Agnew told the board of supervisors on October 6. 'She said, 'Leave, or I'm gonna kill ya.'"

"Last year, our Second Amendment rights were challenged by the Supreme Court in the DC vs. Heller case. ... We won -- but we never should have had to have a court case on the Second Amendment, the language and intent of which could not be any clearer."

"Outgoing Seattle Mayor Greg Nickels yesterday (Oct. 14) made it official: He announced that city park properties will be posted off limits to firearms, even those guns that are legally carried by law-abiding citizens."

"Public reaction to the move has been overwhelmingly negative, much the same as it was during the public comment period that ended Oct. 4. KOMO's Ken Schram is not pleased with Nickels, either. I wrote about public reaction here, and was not surprised that Bob Scales, senior policy analyst for the city’s Office of Policy and Management, somewhat dismissed the huge negative reaction in a remark to SeattlePostGlobe.org because '65% of the comments were from outside Seattle.'" ...

"The callers accused Ward of trying to take away their guns."

But we are not going to just stand by and wait. CRPA and NRA have already started the legislative wheels turning to halt AB 962 before the 2011 implementation date."

"CRPA and NRA members want this bill reversed, and that is what we are going to do!"

"Assemblyman Curt Hagman (R- Diamond Bar) has stepped up and agreed to carry legislation on our members’ behalf. Earlier this year Assemblyman Hagman introduced AB 373 which proposed to streamline the sale of handguns. He has now agreed to amend AB 373 to call for the repeal of AB 962. ..." ...

"I just happen to believe that the U.S. Constitution isn't subject to the whimsical interpretations of politicians who want to parcel out freedom based on what they think is good for us."

"Greg Nickels won't even be around to lose the fight that he's started."

"His parting gift as the exiting mayor will be taxpayers footing the bill for what could be a host of lawsuits challenging his ill-advised and illegal gun ban." ...

"In May 2008, three innocent Philadelphia men were surrounded by armed strangers, dragged out of an automobile, and severely beaten. Each of them was surrounded by a scrum of at least four assailants and repeatedly beaten, kicked, and struck with clubs. One of the victims had his head slammed against the asphalt."

"This attack was recorded on video and broadcast to the world ..."

"... A grand jury empaneled by Pennsylvania’s First Judicial District Court of Common Pleas ruled that the assailants had a 'right' to beat the victims, and that 'the kicks and blows' were 'helpful rather than hurtful.'"

"The G-20 police response in Pittsburgh was a beta test. 'We spent months getting ready for this and it was a lot of preparation, but we’ll see the dividends of that for a long time to come,' Public Safety Director Michael Huss told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review."

"In other words, Pittsburgh is not going to stand-down now that the G-20 has departed. The 'dividend' is that it will remain a militarized police state."

... "The romanticizing of Old West ideals still runs deep in the Phoenix area. ... it's of a delicate balance of Wal-Marts and the American Dream combined with gimmicky old-timey saloons and Manifest Destiny. I can't help but think that those are conflicting ideals."

"But the two worlds collided on September 30. Now, licensed gun owners can legally take their shiny little friends, as long as they're concealed, into ... any alcohol-serving establishment they desire on the condition that they don't drink. ..."

"It will certainly be interesting to see how the new law changes things in the dining and bar scene. You don't have to pass a psychiatric evaluation to own a gun. And let's face it - you don't have to be drunk to be an idiot." ...
