"While anti-gun organizations are demanding that Congress quickly pass new legislation in response to the Virginia Tech massacre, the [CCRKBA] suggests another approach: Abolish the concept of 'gun free zones.'"

"'Every tragic school shooting, and attacks such as those at Salt Lake City's Trolley Square, Luby's Cafeteria in Killeen, Texas, and the Tacoma Mall had one common denominator,' said CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb. 'They all happened in so-called ‘gun-free zones'.'"

"Last spring's attack at Virginia Tech occurred months after the university proudly lobbied the Virginia Assembly to continue prohibiting legally-licensed students and faculty from carrying defensive handguns on campus. ..." ...

Submitter's Note: This recall petition drive, open to all NRA Life members and all Annual members of at least five consecutive years' standing, is aimed at removing Joaquin Jackson from the NRA Board of Directors, based upon his media statements in support of assault weapon and magazine capacity restrictions.

"The UConn chapter of Students for Concealed Carry on Campus wishes to hold a protest against the seemingly wise choice of not allowing any weapons on the UConn campus. It comes down to personal safety, they say. You never know when the next massacre may occur, and as such people need to be prepared to defend themselves. These gun nuts seem to believe that allowing more people to carry the instruments most responsible for violence can solve that problem. In other words, the solution to gun-toting lunatics would be more guns (and, presumably, more lunatics to carry them). ... getting rid of guns solves the problem of gun violence." ...

The City has estimated that the Zero Tolerance Initiative is costing about $52,000 a day. Moore said Mayor Robert Duffy has told him, "We'll continue this until we curb the violence."

Jurors ruled the city of Pasadena must pay $80,000 to a quadriplegic man who sued because police officers allegedly jerked him out of his wheelchair and hung him upside down to search him.

Cornell Greathouse sued the city and four police officers for assault, battery, false arrest, false imprisonment, excessive force, intentional infliction of emotional distress, invasion of privacy and negligence.

A Superior Court jury decided Wednesday the officers weren't culpable, but they ruled Pasadena must pay $78,939.12 for failing to train officers on how to deal with a quadriplegic.

Officers responding a 2005 disturbance call encountered Greathouse and, according to the suit, they pulled him out of wheelchair and hung him over a 4-foot concrete wall in order to search him.
